PLANES, I SAID PLANES. NOT GENERALLY I KNOW THEY ARE REALLY GOOD JUST NOT IN PLANES. I don't wanna see no comments saying nothing about no gyros in anything except planes.
And for the ones that likes to make reasistic planes ( which sometimes don’t have canards), you can hide some tailfins on the nose for less aerodynamic stability, which means less turn time.
> Realistic > Hide blocks inside blocks You people need to finally try and understand Physics and the game's features. "Yeah, let's cram 100 power cores into this lovecraftian mesh of pipes and hinges and call it SU-57 or whatever!" Try building something with 30 power cores, fully modeled cockpit with instruments, ACTUAL aerodynamics. You'll be surprized how satisfying can it become once you master intended in-game physics and not rely on "alien tech" and glitches.
I usually just use Gyros in a mix with control surfaces, just because firstly: The stabilization effects of the gyros makes the plane fly so nice, secondly, i always kinda dislike to make the control surfaces move so much. And in my "defense" I usually put the gyros to a low level so for example my latest F15 turns actually pretty slow, makijg it feel pretty realistic. Anyways, these were just my humble 2 cents and this is actually not the content I want algorithm, I need more submarine videos!
Well I agree using bare gyros for turning suck, But when you use gyros and logic together you can actually make them just as good as natural control surfaces if you know how to do it right, I use gyros mainly not for turning but for stability. Just adding a gyro with like 10 strength and no controls it can make anything just in general more stable which is super useful for making realistic planes.
Finally someone that understand me, I remember once, I was having a dogfight in my p-51 against a plane that was like: 10 dragon thruster, 5 miniguns, full gyro turning, one wing on each side to seem less wierd, no tail, no control surfaces, no aero but drag glitch, not nice looking,… Bro’s turn speed was like 0.01 sec and the 5 minigun’s recoil was making him go backward after like 0.5 sec of fire. In theory it was good, nice top speed, nice turn rate, and nice firepower. He was like :this is the best plane ever made, its so good,… I challenged him to a dogfight with my p-51 and the only thing I had to do was to stay close to the water and let him drop like a rock whenever he shot or turned, we had 10 rounds and I never had to even shoot once 😂
I use gyros a lot because I don't like how the control surfaces make my planes look. And the planes I make are always big. I always try to make them look realistic but the bumps and looks if the control surfaces just don't cut it for me.
the thing with leading edge (and anything asthetic that uses hinges tbh) is how hard it is to line it up, and when you do, hide the space left behind, aand then, respawn 20 times until the hinges fix themselves, which sometimes they don't
i think the reason the dev put a flat edge on the wings is because they wanted the plane to be simpler, when i put gyros in my build they're always on one and the rest are control surfaces except for the roll gyro that's on 2-4, but most of the time its for damping so my turns aren't so violent
one thing you might want to consider is having the gyros higher up (10 if the build is big and heavy) then remove the contols on the gyro. then you can use a XOR logic block for the controls, and adjust the output to what you need to make the turns not so violent, like 0.1 or even less if needed that way you gan get the most out of the damping, while not having uncontrolable ammounts of turning
I never use gyros in planes, but I do make strange planes. A lot of stupid things that the 'forces' UI insist won't work. Last night was one using the racing seat with two diagonal arms sticking out forward with a single wing between them connected by loose hinges. I have pitch and roll both controlled by the wing all the way up front, with six small propellers tucked inside the arms. Because the lift is at the front with all the weight in the back and thrust in the middle, thr forces thing gives me three different errors all amounting to "this thing is going to fall out of the sky" but it flies beautifully. Not a single gyro, just steering hinges.
Watching this video with all the cool plane controls made me want to buy the game, plus its 80% off today so its even cheaper for me whereas full price its 549 philippine pesos and 80% off is 109 philippine pesos
General rule of thumb: You can use gyros to help with turning. But I emphasize that, to help with turning. You should always be at least slightly controllable without gyros.
I use gyros however I found a way to make them stronger the faster you go. I just don't really like the look of canards and it handles similar to real control surfaces!
I don’t usually use leading edge and avoid gyros as much as possible. If I am required to because unity weight and no extra vortex lift I will put a single assist gyro not a frickin rocket compatible gyro. Anyway totally agree!
I only use gyro dampening for abit more realism, but I use control surfaces for pitch roll etc. probably don’t get so mad at most likely a new player just still figuring out the game.
Looks like the devs dont care about the balance of the game, they keep puting OP things on the game like the blasters, pems, shields, gyros and etc, and that ruined the fun and discourage the players to build better, like why the player whould do a cool flap/ canard system when he can just put a gyro on the plane
because gyro is instant, continous force and wings are a more or less smoother and more energy-retaining force. Try to turn with a gyro, it will suck. Try to turn with a wing, it will have its energy retained and will feel way better
Balance? Bro everyone has them. 😂 It doesn’t discourage anything. You can just make a private sever. 😐 Do know how many uses there are for the gyro? It’s not just for planes, it’s used for mechs, cars, rockets, and missiles. You don’t hate the gyro because it “unfair” you hate it because your bad. 😑
i might make some people angry, but imma go a step further. I dont like the aero parts from the airborne update. The flap wings i get, but srsly guys, just learn to use hinges. I've played trailmakers since the only dlcs were cosmetic, and I learned to use hinges and servos. I understand that it makes building a simple plane easier, but I dont think people should rely on them once they get good at making planes. the one thing i like tho is the small modular flaps because they are good to use as connecting pillars that are aerodynamic. they are great as wing struts for biplanes.
My favorite plane i made has pitch control due to fins and small rockets attached to angled servos. even without guns it can hold its own in a dogfight
What i hate about gyros is that you dont need to build a plane if u use them, the whole plane is aesthetic, the build just feels like it has no purpose. Why build this amazingly awesome jet if its just going to be out maneuvered and slower than some missile thing with guns?
What's with the hate on the on people who use gyros? Sorry that some of us don't want to deal with control surfaces, I used to use control surfaces until gyros came around and it was just easier

You can never balance a sandbox game it's meant to be fun chaos. Not that I like people who use 500laser blasters....
Fun fact normal smart canons do more damage per second than blasters but the bullets of the smart canon are slower than the lazers from blasters
You have no idea what your talking about. If guns are on target, the target will die. Energy fighting has been phased out.
Balance? Bro everyone has them. 😂

I don’t like using a gyro on a car. I hate the idea of when going in reverse, the wheels turn one way, the gyro turning the car the other.
Would you rather have a plane that turns too sharply or doesn't turn at all
The control surfaces like elevators don't work.
I don’t use them in planes but what about mechs
i might make some people angry, but imma go a step further. I dont like the aero parts from the airborne update. The flap wings i get, but srsly guys, just learn to use hinges. i guess, but you have got to agree that they do help builds look cleaner.
I don't really like hinges and rotating servos as from my experience they bug out more than the new aileron pieces.

Ppl that use gyro planes are some of the most toxic ppl tbh
Like few are chill but most are just shoot on sight pos that can’t be creative
Bro..
@ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Think before you talk
@ taking it personally? Lmfao
I agree when I join server people put the gyros to 10 a pull 20ges i only yous for stability
yeah I only use them cos i will make a plane that is decently manouverable, and then i get lasered by a stall turn plane
The Phisiks are bad so sometimes you need gyros
how to make a dogfighter
a ton of lift
high thrust to weight 10 + power per kg
leading edge
canards
deltawing
all moving tail
thrust vectoring
No no no 699 gyros and 1 seat
Get the hell out Phil
pitch gyros suck they bleed too much speed i only use gyros for roll cause its not that easy to roll an unstable plane that weighs 1500kg+
yaw is the one i keep in almost everything.
Eh it works for me but to be fair ive been useing em longer
What's with the hate on the on people who use gyros? Sorry that some of us don't want to deal with control surfaces, I used to use control surfaces until gyros came around and it was just easier
not hate, just minor disagreement.
Not hate from you, I mean't hate from the playerbase, sorry
Imagine your trying to dogfight someone and they just turn in place (no turning circle) with 20 blasters
Imagine I don't use 20 blasters
Also imagine that I don't crank my gyros up to 10 so I have realistic dogfights
