I unknowingly found my way to use ADHD as my strength because I wasn’t diagnosed until much later when much of what I did (exercise, moving to a city alone, traveling alone,
hyper focusing on getting a master’s degree, working in an ER, for example) was no longer an option.
I was diagnosed at 56. I am a female and had no idea that menopause could exacerbate ADHD symptoms. It was like having the rug pulled out from under me. I spent several years where I wouldn’t get out of bed unless I had to and it was hell. My daughters were the only thing that kept me from checking out. As you age running and strenuous exercise is not an option unless you’re looking to destroy at least one part of your body. Working in an ER as a social worker when you have little ones at home didn’t work for me. If I had known that I had ADHD I could have been better prepared to adjust my dopamine fix. Thanks for all the advice, I just have to adjust for age and gender.

True. I've also found that the more I set my brain free rather than bounding it to limits, the more it turned out to be incredible at many things. I always used to bound my brain to avoid wandering and to focus for an extended amount of time. Also ADHD brains have god-like intuition and foresight, its like 99% risks you'll take will give you immense benefits and it'll leave normal people wondering how the heck did you do that.

Recently diagnosed in mid-30s, marriage and career struggling, this channel has given me so much hope and allowed me to lower my "mask" for the first time ever, I am really excited at the future and leveraging my new power. Currently changing career to something more aligned with my skills and passions instead of slogging in the mud to nowhere in my current job. Marriage is an open question, wife is questioning whether I can be a reliable partner long term now that the mask is down and I don't blame her for feeling that way, but all I can do is focus on myself. Starting to question myself whether I am better off alone rather than constantly letting her down. We don't have kids and I am kind of thankful for that as idk if I can be responsible for another human.

Love the editting in this video! Great points mentioned here :) One of the most important thing is to accept our ADHD brains and the fact that we will never think the same way as Neurotypical, so there's no point in trying to fit into that box. Instead, we learn to embrace and work with our brains and use it to our advantage!

Normal people were thinking I was " indigo child", super creative, talented, genius when I want to, but to bad that I'm so lazy... or if I'm not so lazy, who knows what would I become.
unfortunately no one, not even psychiatrist back then, was thinking I have ADHD. It was mentioned that I have problems with focus, and solution was supplements and more discipline.
The ADHD diagnoses came in my twenties.
I have noticed that stress increases all of the symptoms.
My favourite advantage is hyper focus (when is useful), exercise, art, a sort of photographic memory (I am interested about other people's experience with this) and probably the most important - perfectly reading people

A daily routine of yoga , tai chi or meditation helps over time even 10 minutes a day. For home organization The Secret Slob (21 day baby steps; using the checklists and timer 7:50 for that dopamine hit), Minimal Mom were helpful and give it a good 6 months to a year to establish small but powerful habits. It is good to start with that because it is difficult to focus on your strengths when knee deep in laundry, dirty dishes and miscellaneous paper 😂😂.
For work I found that Lofi music (low fidelity) works the best but other people like white, brown or pink noise. Lofi music has tiny errors in it and it keeps parts of my brain busy looking for them, or being mildly curious while I do the “boring” stuff. Be patient with yourself. I have told people I have adhd and told them to stop harassing me while I am trying to get it together better.bThe best I ever felt working is when I had a secretary who loved keeping me organized! It was heavenly. For relationships I have ended up (or picked?) people who were pretty structured but then of course complained bitterly they were not spontaneous enough. I have stayed with the current one for 18 years, tough but I at 67 starting to value the value of having habits and routines and not too many changes. Keep working at it to create a good life for yourself😊

I also think, some folk are busy, people have families, so unless the awareness is ramped up to TV and phones, most people will not know unless someone in their family or friends has it.

PRO TIP: do NOT run first thing in the morning if you love your knees. I've ran a business for a decade. Had kids, pets, illnesses, successes... No wish to be the life of the party.

At 7 min 40 sec. This man mentions an invisible link in the top right corner. Why isn’t it there?

let me adress this for you
tip 1: just be a robot and do whatever comes to mind without having time for your fast thinking brain to think about what you are about to do (hopefully not driving)
tip 2: be sure to use your creativity in your job, just dont work in homogenous jobs such as factories I guess
tip 3: find your passion, use hyperfocus, depending on the person you might get addicted, but oh well...
tip 4: remember those places with a TON of stimuli? you are so random and quirky, go lighten up someone's party! (side effects may include mental exaustion and "beep boop" for a few days)
tip 5: imagine, you constantly make careless mistakes, cant read the room and are too impulsive, surely nothing could go wrong with taking risks
I swear, every single "adhd superpower" argument was taken from some guy who looked at adhd symptoms and said "hey, this one looks like a good thing" but forgot that adhd is not a single symptom but rather a root cause for many symptoms
you want actual advice? go find a adhd specialist psychiatrist who can give you cbt (and wont leave you in crippling debt), depending on your case, they will teach you stuff like, spotting your adhd symptoms, living around you adhd symptoms, not being so hard on yourself and help treat any eventual depression and trauma caused by adhd. And you may think "doesnt sound like what I need" and simply ask yourself, as someone with adhd that has trouble finding youself a place in society and being fine with your place, what's easier to change, you? or society? and if you still really think that with willpower you can overcome adhd, please only tell youself that after you stop procrastinating :)

So I love some of this content but the profanity is a turn off. I think it is normalized in so many of these platforms, it really is a shame.
