Anyone else obsessed with the process of learning a system and coming up with plans, and then just not following through? Like, I've learned a ton hyperfocusing this way, but I fail to implement it into my own life. It's insane, I keep beating my head against the wall with plans and outlines and such.
I think the problem is, when I think what interests me and puts me in hyperfocus mode, it's this, but this is also what I am trying to get out of, because either I am unfocused or hyperfocused on thoughts, plans and ideas.
Normally, if you make a good plan, AKA that matches a goal, to a set of behaviors, then you should experience a rush of dopamine, because a plan just increases the likelihood that you will reach your goals if you do those actions. If you do not feel compelled to act, then may be your plan wasn't good. Aka: Do you feel like if you do the actions step by step, you will actually succeed to the goal, or do you just feel overwhelmed?
My problem is, I want to do 80 different things... and shortly after, I see too many cons in them, and then I don't want to any longer.. next day, completely different long term goal, repeat the process.. endless loop, its been 2 years now. I need help, something is wrong with my brain.. then I find this channel :) Hope! - Eric
Bro I’m the same. Have you found a solution? It’s like I can do anything and I believe for a week then I don’t want that anymore and want something else. Then a week later I’m back to the other thing. People around me are progressing and I’m still where I was ten years ago 😢
Try praying. Pray to God to clear your mind. Read the Bible everyday and you will have peace of mind and will cope easely with everyday tasks. Surrender your life to Jesus Christ and He will help you. Amen. God bless you!
Man I have always been an extremely deep thinker. Some people would call it overthinking. I am realizing all of us ADHDers are that. Great work brother 👍🏻. You’re channel is amazing👌
Why are people surprised? There is nothing more obvious than goggins is one of us😄 yes we get easily distracted but we have a lot of advantage to reach goals regular people won‘t. We can get very enthusiastic, don‘t fear to try new things, used to stand up and try again, widely interested, great at connecting things, hyper focus, very determined if we see a sense in it, fast and out of the box thinkers, etc. therefore all innovators have/had adhd. With innovators i don‘t mean only people like steve jobs, elon musk, etc. but also people like MJ who wasn‘t just one of the greatest basketball players but totally disrupted his industry.
It's really interesting to watch this video three years on from when you made it. I note that you've clearly changed your mindset about the "eat that frog" advice as here you're saying to do it because you have the energy, whereas one of your most recent videos you suggest avoiding that process and go for smaller, easier tasks which are quick wins to get the dopamine going in the brain. I think you're completely right with your newer advice and the older advice is less correct. It was just funny to see this after your most recent video. Great to watch though and I appreciate seeing how you've grown and evolved over the last three years, as well as how you've matured as a person. You're definitely more confident in yourself now when compared to this video, and I feel you've definitely found your forte in life with this content.
Also, Goggins' Grandpa "Seargant Jack" - I silently salute to him when I bit myself through some harder tasks. I wish I had a family member like him that took care of my lazy ass when I was a kid.
I have analyzed with zodiac signs that people with air and fire elements are more prone to ADHD: 1 . Sensitive to judgment 2 . Waking up to a small sound, curious like a cat 3 . Impulsive in telling dark jokes, even if they hurt 4 . Remember and forget instantly, regretting it and repeating the cycle 5 . Making notes and forgetting them 6 . Shaking hands, picking beard, biting lips 7 . Predicting human behavior (detective-like) 8 . Attracted to lucrative objects, music, and senses that reduce thinking 9 . Fear of rejection 10 . Picking up complex topics, science fiction movies, hyperstimulation, etc.
The author literally lists the things that most people with ADHD have big problems with. When we set ourselves even the most specific and simple goals with deadlines, we almost always pull to the last, when we have almost no time left, and then we do everything super-fast under stress, hating ourselves for having to endure another hellish load due to procrastination. Or this is "eat the frog first." People with ADHD, is this really the first time you've heard about this? Have you really never tried to use it? Who had a positive result after such experiments? And who has another disappointment, frustration and feeling worthless? Many of us have already tried 100,500 times to use ALL the tips from this video. And we didn't get anything good from it, except bad, namely failure, demotivation, despondency and new proof that nothing helps us, and all attempts to fix something turn out to be a waste of energy.
Just consistenly watching this video without being distracted is actually not easy for me. My brain is always flying about different things while hearing the audio of this video.
Was diagnosed about 1.5 years ago. I’ve only recently accepted it. I’m 38 years old now. I feel like I’ve been cheated out so much time and opportunities not being diagnosed earlier. I feel guilty complaining. I’m thankful for being diagnosed. I just assumed I was just a bit different compared to the people in my life. So many emotions come with actually knowing I’m not just “weird”. Just venting my dudes
Today dropping out of top grad school in my field and terminating my own scholarship without realising that I have had ADHD all my life! :') Going back home is painful
these videos really help with my adhd like its so bad, and these videos helps a lot. so much so I sent your videos to my friend who also has adhd and it helped him too. do you have or if do you don't you should make a video about becoming not dependent on medication, its something that I've been struggling with for so long and I feel like you would really cover this topic well.
So, after watching this and getting to the David Goggins part, I went online and bought his book (as an e-book). After paying, I realised I'd bought the "clean" version DU'H!! I wanted the 'authentic' version, so I bought the e-book again, with the cursing :D Just another example of ADHD impulse, I should have noticed :D
There's no way my ADHD ass could ever retain anything from this video without making notes, thought I'd share them with you: 1. Realizing that even though self discipline is very hard for us, it can be done 2. Sketch out long term plans that contain achievable short term goals (e.g. if you want to make 100K dollars you could start out with saving a specific amount of money every week or month-- achieving these small goals releases dopamine in your brain and keeps you motivated) 3. "Eat the frog": complete the thing you are dreading to do most right at the beginning of your day 4. Switch up your goal achieving activities (like switching up your workout routine etc) 5. Identify the "Why" behind your long term goals. It needs to be something that inherently interests us. If you don't know what interests you, try to identify what topics you tend to hyperfocus most on 6. Take deserved rest days and credit yourself for your work @ADHD Vision: thanks for the content man. Subscribed.
While self-discipline totally works for me, eating the frog is what my brain kinda runs away from. Like remembering these tasks on the worst possible time (like urgent paperwork while falling asleep at night...)
I always wake up with anxiety in the morning, beating myself up for not to be an early riser. All the plan, expectations, motivation of yesterday are disappeared in my brain fog
Andrew Hubermann told David Goggins about a part in the brain that grows if you do things you don't like, you can grow your will power, since I heard this it helped me a lot knowing something in my brain becomes stronger
Interesting, but the hacks that work for neurotypicals simply don’t work for the neurodiverse. Jowin B’s notes (below) about identifying the “why” behind everything that we do a,es more sense to me.
"What's your definition of success?" -NF Personally, I find Yeshua more inspiring and compelling than either of the two materially wealthy (and greedy) men pictured.
I don't understand why they are not talking about it.. In all his videos David Goggins never mentions DHD. We can t bring awareness if we are afraid of a label
He actually mentions that he was diagnosed with it in his book "Can't hurt me" very briefly but didn't like the medication because it made him feel like a zombie.
You know I am your biggest fan. Thank you for another great video. BUT. Please consider changing the thumbnail for this video. I was disappointed to learn you weren’t actually talking about “The Secret”, the logo of which logo you used. By the way you should check that movie / book / philosophy out. Best wishes and love as always from Berlin.
Is ADHD a lack of discipline ? Isnt ADHD just based ones neuroticism? Honestly, the content creator takes entirely too long to convince folks that they should keep watching. This is experience on another of his videos. The “eating pizza and sitting down like nothing ever happened” seems so minor and irrelevant that I sensed it may not be worth watching the full video. But this is just one opinion; I’m sure he’s an incredible educator for others.
MJ has ADHD? Isn't he known for being present in the moment? My ADHD mind just wanders off when things get boring and in my case, everything is boring.
But that athlete had a imposed time limit from outside him so he can use adrenelin to get it done. So that example doesn't help. Most of your examples are for normal people like eat the frog. Not sure you really have anything new. The only helpful stuff I have seen is cold showers and excercise. Your videos are validating but I feel like you are earlier in your journey than you think.
I am so fucking tired of people praising Goggins and holding him up as some kind of role model. He just hates himself enough that he gets off on torturing himself. There's nothing inspiring about that. But all the "motivational" bros drag him on their podcasts, and all us "losers" are told that we have to be just like him if we want to be worth anything as a human being. It's sickening and it's sadistic. And I will NEVER believe that he is neurdivergent. He has to be lying for the attention.
I'd like you to complete even a third of what the man has done. He acknowledges that he hates himself. He acknowledged his adhd was just him being lazy and he didn't want to learn. I do believe he is neruodivergent to an extent. The absolute discipline he instilled after years of failure can only be learned from failing. He's widely known. You're not.
@sararatliff7707 That's not at all what he preaches. He literally says this message is not for everybody. Try to look at both perspectives before you make a judgment, as that can stick with you for life. Get out of the one-sided habit. You'll be so much happier
ADHD is mental and spiritual problem which can be solved by the help of God. Some say it can be blessing or curse. What to do? Read the Bible everyday. Pray in the morning, during day, before bed. Surrender your life to Jesus Christ. Through Christ we have spiritual connection with God. Christ Jesus is our mediator. He will help you so that your ADHD becomes a blessing for you and people around you. God bless you! Glory to God!
God made us all the way we are. We don't need to be cured. We just need to accept the love of I AM as Christ Yeshua did. We accept God's Unconditional Love and learn to accept ourselves as is. Just different, not wrong! 🧡💜
My AdHD out of the box thinking made me an atheist...no praying will not help me. it only helps you because its some kind of selfthothing in combination with mindfullness
I don't understand this "we are the people who can't stick to long-term goals" thing. Having to use tools to help you stick with something is not the same as not being able to stick at all. In my experience (and I'm 69), if you love the activity/skill/work you can stick with it for decades -- and the only reason I'm still not doing certain things is entirely because they required a level of physical ability I no longer have (due to having been run over by a car that jumped a curb and got me as I walked down the sidewalk) NOT because I don't have the desire. The desire just kills me sometimes, because I want to do the thing so bad, but just can't physically do it anymore. ALSO, having discipline does not mean doing things the way you are 'supposed to' or defining your goal according to a particular approved "career path." Just because it worked for someone else (not you) doesn't mean it's the way you should do it.
All of those advices are useless to people with adhd, they do work for neurotypicals though. You should also advice us to breathe and walk, since all the things you talk about are so obvious ))))
Anyone else obsessed with the process of learning a system and coming up with plans, and then just not following through? Like, I've learned a ton hyperfocusing this way, but I fail to implement it into my own life. It's insane, I keep beating my head against the wall with plans and outlines and such.

Exactly the same. But I remember myself that as you said " I've learned a ton" and I know someday things will connect, they do since decades for me.
My problem is, I want to do 80 different things... and shortly after, I see too many cons in them, and then I don't want to any longer.. next day, completely different long term goal, repeat the process.. endless loop, its been 2 years now. Nothing wrong with your brain❤ it's a work in progress
Bro I’m the same. Have you found a solution? It’s like I can do anything and I believe for a week then I don’t want that anymore and want something else. Then a week later I’m back to the other thing. People around me are progressing and I’m still where I was ten years ago 😢
Mine too. I've been trying to decide 5 different career paths the last few years.
Try praying. Pray to God to clear your mind. Read the Bible everyday and you will have peace of mind and will cope easely with everyday tasks. Surrender your life to Jesus Christ and He will help you. Amen. God bless you!
For me, as someone mentioned, I lose interest when things start getting difficult. I think maybe visualizing reaching a goal might help. I’m not sure.
Man I have always been an extremely deep thinker. Some people would call it overthinking. I am realizing all of us ADHDers are that. Great work brother 👍🏻. You’re channel is amazing👌

Yes! Can't hurt me by David Goggins is such an inspiring book! Glad you mentioned it :) Great tips by the way! Definitely helpful to us with ADHD.
Thanks :). Yea David Goggins is definitely the man
Also, Goggins' Grandpa "Seargant Jack" - I silently salute to him when I bit myself through some harder tasks. I wish I had a family member like him that took care of my lazy ass when I was a kid.
Good tip, but it is difficult when I take 365 days or more to finish a book
Your videos are Amazing, you are the hero every ADHD person needed, thank you so much. Your Chanel is so cool!
I do not have the most energy when I wake up
Who has the most energy in the morning? It takes me hours to get the ball rolling and am fully active way later in the day.
I've never felt this good in a long time, hope is a powerful thing❤.

And this is why I just got prescribed modafinil. No matter what, nothing works. I can say all day ima do it..and don't. I feel I have no choice
While "the secret" is some neo-esoteric self-soothing garbage, Goggins is an absolute MUST READ on self-discipline and explaining it.
Nah theres some truth to itm

amazing idea with the journal. I will buy it :D
Great, our problem is consistency, which is what you are telling us in different terms.
I have adhd and i feel like discipline doesnt work for me, like yeah i can force myself to do shit every day but it never gets easier
I have the same problem.. how to solve it?? I am desesperated..

Couldn't have said it better myself ;)
Thank you for your comments. I think that identifying the “why” is the key to this.
Can I please trade ADHD 🧠 with you?

"Eating the frog" first, stops me from doing anything at all. I have to build up to it. Start with dessert!
💯
Remarkable channel, waiting for more videos 🎉
When I start working you getting Patreoned! Love the content
Thanks Mohammed! ;)
Keep it up mate!
Well done dude! This blog going to be amazing! Thanks for sharing help!
No problem and thank u!
Loved the video man... Needed this the most
Total agree, I am special and do different other, we have new vision for the whole world!
the last thing I need with adhd is the notification bell! lol
Your videos rock!
Thanks man! Love ur vida too ;)

thank you for this! I'm almost 45 and just got diagnosed
Thanks man brilliant content
Good video- I didnt know Goggins had it but it makes sense. I have a channel too that gives adhd funny/hopefully informative content.
But what can i do if my brain doesn't give a f about any time limits?
You are AMAZING!!!
What does the medication for ADHD actually do to you? Does it make you more focused? calmer?
Great video 👏👏👏
Lasted until 5:09 before I wanted a new topic/video. Great content though!

Personally, I find Yeshua more inspiring and compelling than either of the two materially wealthy (and greedy) men pictured.
The cinematics in between were feeding my adhd.

i want to be an accountant im taking basic book keeper courses, i been in the resturant industry majority of my work life, a physical job

Will Smith and Justin Timberlake as well
Thank you so much I’m trying to leave my meds because they make me feel as though I were another person
My brain is forcing me to move to another video.

im sure to be successful

I told all of my symptoms to 4 different therapists and no one even told me that I have ADHD -_- I needed to research myself....I don't get it
Hey bro how do i know if i have adhd or not ?
I feel like as someone with ADHD and a UA-camr who’s audience has ADHD your videos shouldn’t be this long. It should be short and straight to the point cause I already stopped paying attention

No wonder Goggins works out so hard. He’s a tweaker to.
😂
What does tweker mean?
In this video you say to tackle the hardest thing on your to do list first but in another video you say that is bad advice. In that video you say to do easier to acomplish tasks to get a small dopamine hit to kind of prime the dopamine pump. Which is it?
👏👏👏
@5:53 That's so unfair. Princesses only have to kiss the frog and we need to eat it?
Outgrowing ADHD can make u more disciplined that’s just a fact
You don’t outgrow adhd though, your neurodevelopment doesn’t suddenly change!
Keşke türkçe alt yazı da olsa
Lol I almost closed UA-cam to go do another random thing and I remembered the adhd topic lol 😅I lost attention while watching the video
The detective music is distracting me ughhjggrnfrhfvv 😬
Would have liked to show this video to my kid w/adhd. Love Goggins but could have done without a five second clip dropping f-bombs.
Nice

tl:dw He says the solution is 'discipline' and grifts multiple times. Generic advice. Doesn't apply to ADHD.

ADHD has nothing to do with Spirituality, Christ and Science can go hand in hand, surely people know this by now!!
