I was 27 when my husband woke me up with a "Disney voice" because the grass in the field was frosted white...it was beautiful! You could see grass through the ice and it crunched as we walked to the car with the dining table salt shaker to "clear the windshield " we thought it would work. Lol. Greetings from Texas
Totally gonna try this here in Michigan, we get the same style winters here!! Our winters (Michigan/Minnesota) are worse than the north and south poles winters combined EVERY YEAR. Most people don’t know that our winters get down to “Arctic” temperatures! Pretty rough but also very special
I left Minnesota after 20+ years and now live in Southern California. I just found this channel and it's funny to me because I always tell people that it gets cold out here in the winter..."Not Minnesota cold but cold for So Cal."
My brother in law is the coolest dude from MN but he's legit depressed about this global warming. A Minnesotans identity is so entrenched on being able to brave the cold and he's spent more time in shorts this winter than in pants. Sorry Dave, could be worse.
Four years ago wow I’m just seeing this now. At first I thought it was a big waste of my time, but in the end it was worth it. I would definitely put a motor on it stronger motor.
Pretty neat, although I wouldn't be letting the kids put their fingers in the channel like that. If the ice bumps over to the side their fingers are on while they're in the water, they're getting ripped off
I completely misunderstood the size of this and assumed it would be a death trap, overloaded on one side, flipping over and drowning everyone under the ice.
Next time, add a bunch of salt to the water in the ring. The salt will prevent the water from freezing at normal “freezing” temps, and because saltwater floats on fresh water, it should stay relatively in place in the rim
Imagine leisurely going for a night drive in a heavy truck on your nice thick lake and then run over that thing a couple hours after you guys leave. Yikes.
If they could get the trucks on the ice, all it would have taken is one wheel on the carousel, and one wheel jacked up to get it spinning at insane speeds…
Because the ice is so thick, it floats on top and can support a lot of weight. You could even drive a car on this and you likely wouldn't even see the circle do down much because of how large the ice disc is.
Thank you for this informative how-to. I will be trying it out down here in South Africa as soon as weather permits.
"The first thing to do is test the thickness of the ice. We will do this by driving on it."
We had small natural ones - ice circles - form in Lake Michigan a few years ago during a long cold snap in Chicago. But this is a whole other level!

I didn't even relize that a dude living 2 miles away from my house had half a million subs.
I didn't realise he was 2 miles away from your house!
@@anzinger7818 ❤
one of the coolest things ive ever seen
4:51 woah this shot looks very cool , it looks like the ice is floating in the air

Cap
I was born in Michigan and currently reside in North Dakota. Let’s just say I now see Michigan as tropical.
@@seatripreports that’s what’s up lol!
Michigan just isn’t like Minnesota dawg
Who thought this up? Has it been done before? So creative and fun!
Wouldn’t it be great to have the time, inclination and ability to do this man it is brilliant
You tapped into your calling! Structural Ice Sculpture. Or as Minnesotans call it: having fun.
Sometimes, if you're lucky, you come across something brilliant ! .... and today I'm lucky ! 👍
Maximum effort on the ice carousel boys!! Excellent work! Cheers from northern MN!
Looks like a GREAT time! thanks for sharing

Spending all day with friends making something cool. Reminds me of the time spending all day making an igloo with friends.
Cool! Now add a canopy and some horses. Carved from ice of course.
how fast can you get it going?
I need to go 88 mph
Thanks dude this is awesome. Minnesota seems terrible. But maybe it isnt!
I didn't know chainsaws could tolerate water like that nevermind freezing water
I left Minnesota after 20+ years and now live in Southern California. I just found this channel and it's funny to me because I always tell people that it gets cold out here in the winter..."Not Minnesota cold but cold for So Cal."
Get out of Cali they gonna raise gas to 15dollars a gallon
Was it still around the next day? How long does it last?
Hey! I noticed that your getting a view spike right now, keep up the good work 😊
I love your adventurous spirit!

Did you the flow of the water keep the carousel spinning or did you have to regularly apply force to keep it spinning?
Only kids from Minnesota would be splashing their hands in that water lol
Well done! Good family fun.
Do you guys get “Northern Lights/Aurora Borealis” in Minnesota like we do here in Michigan?
Yeah we do!
yup
@@rawegg5591 that’s so awesome!
How far up are you in michgan that you see the northern lights? I'm by Ann arbor I have never seen them.
Such a beautiful project.
Awsome dudes 👍🏼 a lot of work 👊🏼
What a lovely idea. Well done. Thank you. 😁😁😁😁
Very unique. Love it 👍
Alot work, pretty darn cool though.
What happens if someone/ a kid falls in the crack? Ouch, would they be shredded, then drowned?
I’m from Minnesota but I’ve never thought to do this
That is amazing how, relatively speaking, little effort it takes to spin that
Will you do this again for the Luminary on Johanna next weekend??? :D
when they started poking the ice in the water it reminded me of that scene on frozen one
Iife time experience for kids 👍. Fantastic job
Having worked in Finland drilling on frozen lakes, EVERYBODY wears fleece-lined rubber boots.
Inspired ! It’s on my list . Never knew I wanted to do this so much , till I saw it. I’m choked up with enthusiasm 👌😂
Wow man I really love your channel
I had no idea that Minnesota is so cold! This paint was ecofriendly of course?!😊
Never loan your chainsaw to this guy !

should put sum fishing holes in it for trolling
Part 30 please
This video is just well satisfying

Oh look, it's a submersible chainsaw! 😅
this is just awesome
You a crazy man! ...The nice kind of crazy.
This looks great! I live in south-central coastal Florida. How can I recreate this effect here?
I feel like this was one of those projects that took an absurd amount of work and yielded almost minimal benefit XD
I think you City Boys forgot you could have just tied the string to the chainsaws start cutting right from the start!!!🤣🤦♂️
The first thing to do is to test the thickness of the ice...by driving your truck onto it.
Утром все замерзло - начинай с начала )))
love this. Hella job.
They are really cool in Minnesota
This reminds me of the movie frozen
"Beyond the press" did this!!
When you cut into the ice your going below the lakes water level during summer

Why no one is commenting.
That looks fun.
This is definitely something I’d do if I didn’t live on the California coast.
My cousins used to live there
Even tho I live in the middle of the desert…I’m watching this in case smth happens ☠️
I want to see it spin real fast!
Is that lake Minnetonka
Imagine leisurely going for a night drive in a heavy truck on your nice thick lake and then run over that thing a couple hours after you guys leave. Yikes.
Me and the boys after watching this:
this is awesome
Now if the rotation was pug powered, then you'd have a video. Carrot, stick, you get the idea. 30 or 40 of them should do.
This is so Minnesota. I would probably be doing the same thing if it froze here.
i want to live in minnesota now :(
It is really fun to live here
Saludos cordiales..desde Zacatecas, México.
Me encantaría traducción...Pues es muy interesante su video.Felicidades .
Abrazos amistosos
Bendiciones
How much time do you have on your hands?
Them: yes
Very good
Very cool
If they could get the trucks on the ice, all it would have taken is one wheel on the carousel, and one wheel jacked up to get it spinning at insane speeds…
They should have a safety Hall in case someone does fall through the ice
Do ot again but with a boat motor hooked up
If it is a dark sky location, you could watch the sky while the "earth" turns.
I’m not this Minnesotan do you need a permit for this?
Вот в таких прорубях, со слов деда, он зимой в молодости ловил рыбу.
I feel like this is missing the truck. Park truck across gap. Jack up one side. Spin wheel on carousel. No boat motor needed.
To those wondering why there are so few comments, the rest were deleted. I don't know if this was by the creator or by YT, but that is what happened
I thought comments were disabled for a period of time
I want to do this!
Why the paint though...?
What if the ice breaks and they fall inside the sea or is it not possible?
Because the ice is so thick, it floats on top and can support a lot of weight. You could even drive a car on this and you likely wouldn't even see the circle do down much because of how large the ice disc is.
And it’s a lake and if it started sinking it would not be immediate so they would have time to get off
YOU NEED TO GET A DOG SLED TEAM AND CHAIN THEM TO THE CAROUSEL AND MAKE THEM RUN AROUND IN CIRCLES ALL DAY!
Its amazing
So coooool
Are dudes feet not frozen when the lake water is spewing onto his shoes?
You should have waited until the ice had completely melted, then it would have been much easier to cut through...
Riley, I now understand you…
