Just found your channel. Beautiful work you do. As a 70 year old disabled hippie I used to hike and find unusual places. Now thanks to people like you I can sit back and enjoy watching from the sidelines, so to speak.
This place is incredible. I am an American History nut particularly ancient desert sites, Wild West . I went to college to be an archaeologist concentrating on those aspects. But life happened so my degree went to waste, so to speak. At 62 I can’t do this kind of exploring anymore. Thanks for taking me along. Be careful and I can’t wait for the next adventure. Respect from South Carolina
Nah. You can do it. Just get in shape. I'm 60 and can bike and run and walk unbelievable distances. Use a weighted vest and slope on a treadmill. Your body will adapt. No limits brother.

The quality of your videos & the incredible places you take us is epic and so soothing for the soul. Thank you so much, please stay safe you & your furry companion.
Your country has some impressive landscape too. I once saw a multi part documentary on a guy who wrote and illustrated a series of guidebooks on the Lake Country and I've wanted to visit ever since.
🙂 Here's to adventure dogs! 🙂 Back in the 1990s, I spent lots of time hiking the very mountains in this video with a labrador retriever who accompanied me on lots of adventures! Years later, I had another canine hiking buddy who just passed away last summer. I've been missing him. Hiking alone just isn't the same!
I had an adventure dog, best dog ever. My current dog is great but he'll never be able to be both independent enough to roam on his own and attached enough to not run off and get lost. He's also not good around livestock so have to be careful on trails with pack animals. Mostly not worth taking him with me places.
@@tedpreston4155 Dogs just worm their way into our lives and our hearts. It's hard when we loose them. Sometimes I still have dreams about a collie I had when I was a kid and I'm almost 67 years old. I miss him and all the dogs I've had.

I've been hiking that area for thirty years, and your comment brought back a memory of the only other human I've ever seen in that whole mountain range: a rancher down in the valley, feeding his cows! That wind you hear in Nolan's microphone keeps people away! In all these years, I've only seen a few days there when the wind wasn't blowing all afternoon.
That's just how cows act if your passing through on foot. Any group of cows will push you around that way if your walking through their pasture. Prey animals protecting the herd. City cows. Country cows. Either way. It's not all about snacks!
Actually I can tell from the breed, these are genetically modified cows. Their genome has been rewritten in such a way that their prey instincts have been replaced with the desire to be eaten. The reason they were following him around is because they wanted him and his dog to make hamburgers and brisket out of them.
Your drone footage is the best I've ever seen. You put yourself in them that gives us the correct dimensions of how massive these structures are. Many don't look natural....
I enjoy so much seeing you young explorers taking the rest of us out into so many wild and scenic places. The drones add so much. Spectacular! Mr/Ms Dog was whining when his/her human was in the deep crevice. I totally agree with the dog. Not a place for a human. Cattle are very curious creatures. The sheer size of things makes this look unreal ..... amazing landscape and you say it is all natural which makes it so fascinating. I was worried your dog might fall too (what a great climber) not ignoring the risks you yrself took. Thanks so much for sharing this. Amazing!
Really glad you left the sound of the wind in your video! I have been in this area several times and have only experienced a calm day once. Looking forward to watching more of your content!!
Like SCUBA diving, you shouldn't be doing this alone. You should have a companion in case something happens out of which you cannot extricate yourself.
Exactly what I was thinking. The unthinkable has already happened to other hikers. Hopefully you are carrying an emergency call system! Your dog could have a mishap in one of the cracks, especially with the high winds. Otherwise I would love to do exactly what you are doing!
That's a fairly sturdy drone you got there for withstanding those wind. Great shot and sounds! The cows at the end... wondered if they thought you're about to feed them : )
Hi, I really enjoyed your video! Awesome and well done! Indeed a great adventure to just investigate something you saw on G. Earth. And such huge geological structures we don't have in the tiny Netherlands 😅
Exfoliation Weathering: a process that occurs when large sheets of rock fracture and detach from an outcrop due to the removal of overlying rock, or overburden. A type of physical weathering that occurs when the outer layers of a rock flake off, revealing the layers beneath. This process is most common in igneous rocks, such as granite or basalt, and in upland areas.
Looks like a giant granite batholith surrounded by the desert expanse of Arizona. Morning sunlight makes a haunting but beautiful calendar like landscape view. Your personage with shadow shows how huge the rocks really are in perspective. Never seen a photo of this area before. Amazing drone footage, the best yet Nolan! Cows were getting lonely.
Amazing video. Great choice to not add any music, and instead let the viewer listen to the sound of nature. Thanks for sharing, awesome footage, awesome experience!
O.....M.....G!!!!! There were so many moments in this one where I stopped the vid, and the image on my 43" TV made what could be either the perfect photographic print, or a painting of the shot! I am so happy for you that your surgeries evidently were successful!!!! I am just so in love with your Pup!!!! He is the very definition of "intrepid explorer".......and so are you! The two of you were meant for each other!!!! Also - although I am one of the many who enjoy that you don't use music, I cannot deny that I was impressed with the snippet of Zeppelin on your car stereo, when you were about to open the gate! I literally said OUT LOUD....."Awesome! Led Zeppelin!!" You are a young man after my own old heart!!!!❣
This is amazing and beautiful! You did a very good job. So many stunning views. I wish a movie had been filmed there. Never seen anything like that didn't know it existed. Please take a tent next time with a stargazer lol. Also I don't know how you kept from feeling very small and vulnerable I'm sure you did to some degree. Please go back there and do more research that's got to be one of the biggest geological formations on earth and it does make you feel like you're on the moon or another planet like you said. Again thank you what a wonderful job you have done be safe! And doggie 2.
Youre not kidding about the landscape looking like an abstract painting. It looks quite unreal but it's real. Amazing video beginning to end. Thank you and a big thanks to your faithful friend.
Your comment brings back memories of a chocolate labrador that hiked those same granite slabs with me back in the 1990s. She carried a backpack too. She carried her own food and water up the mountain, and she carried jade down the mountain on the trip back to camp each day!
@@spencereagle1118 I kept thinking what a sketchy terrain for a dog. The dog does not have the privilege of wearing shoes on abrasive, hot rock. One simple injury, or worse yet a slip, and they're both in a bad predicament.
Very good video. Most enjoyable without music. I was worried about that crack and so was your dog. What amazing geological stuff. The universe is a very old place
Sunrise was amazing. And on that day, your drone work improved dramatically. Maybe you were tired or felt rushed as the day was ending the day before, but you're 2nd day drone work was better. Especially when you showed the sunrise with the zoom lens and then flew the drone to and away from the sun. You were using the drone to tell stories, and that was a far better use of that camera in the sky. I like your videos. You're getting better and I enjoy what you're doing. Subscribed! :)
This is the most amazing place. Where are you? I am truly amazed at your sense of adventure. Do it while you are young, you will never regret this! Thank you for sharing.
Very Immersive, that's really an amazing style you have of making these videos. I think anyone that sees one of these will watch everything on your channel, its really awesome.
I was so afraid you were going to fall into that crevice, or get stuck in it, or slide off the side of that mountain - but instead you were nearly stampeded by cattle!! LOL. I absolutely LOVE your channel. The footage you share is absolutely amazing and breath-takingly stunning. PS: What's your dog's name? S/he was kinda freaking when you were in that crevice!!
with all the places in the world to be, and increeping age, i will probably never get here in person, so i am grateful for the tour. i would have stopped an appreciated all the same things, so thanks for the exploratory ramble! the drone footage is such a beautiful addition. that standing stone at 16 min blew my mind! and the giant slab, the sunset and rise and and and… also really appreciate the wind only soundtrack. the utter peace of these wild places and how us little humans can get in touch with the immensity of our universe is what i most treasure about being in places like this in person. thanks again. ps the cows thought you were bringing food. out on the range its pretty much the only time they see humans so its a big connection for them. they are also just curious animals in general, i loved hanging with my cows back when i had them, but the first few times it definetely is freaky to see a herd of large animals running at you with no barricade in place. lone bulls on the other had can be another matter, be cautious around them!
About the sun. It is actually the same size at the horizon as it is at the peak. If you roll up a paper into a tube the size of the sun at horizon level... It will be the same size at noon. I recommend doing this test with the moon to protect your eyes.
@@dnomyarnostaw it certainly does not change its size but we we see is not 100% subjective to human relationship to objects there is refraction going on through the atmosphere as it is being seen through a thicker layer ... this acts as a lens for the sun rays and can make it look larger, or smaller
With that out of the way, I LOVED this content! The split rock had me messed up and I was like TOOEY (I always spell it wrong) going up it like a champ
I'm sure I didn't! I'm just excited, because I got the notification on my phone and it's a location that really intrigued me. So I just got ahead of myself, edited
I just came across your channel. What an adventure you took us on! Thank you so much. Since as a child, I’ve always been intrigued with our planet’s formation. Going on drives on a highway and all of the sudden one finds themselves driving through some man made canyon where one can see the ‘flow’ of rocks, sometimes different colors, that move in a wave formation and your brain says, how in the hell did that happen. Those were some of my childhood memories that made me love the science of geology! Your video work is amazing and your insights on how all of these earthly structures were created and destroyed were well done Thanks Nolan. I envy your dedication and quest for adventure. I’m old but I still have it in me to get out there and enjoy this Holyland we call Mother Earth! Thank you so much! 😊🏔️🥾❤️👍
❤ Thank you for the amazing footage! It is rare to meet a person who is familiar with the geological features of the area and is able to tell about it. Everything I saw was amazing!!
wow! incredible! Man, you are very fit. All that climbing. geez! how cool for you. thanx for the vid. I'm glad this showed up on my random searches. I'm gonna have to get more info about geologic processes that made those holes and perfect looking cracks. I've not hear that explanation before but I like it better than 'ancient aliens or lost civilizations'
Of course and as usual, the video is mesmerizing and informative and the aerial trip is cool..! Thanks for the intermission at 18:00, gave me a chance to take a leak... I was riveted to the video and my back teeth were starting to float.
The drone footage of you standing on that "pebble" alongside the wall makes that look very small, although it probably weighs more than an automobile. Great content as always, thank you. At 26:40 there appears to be a building, is that possibly something involving those cows?
This is an amazing, mesmerising and beautiful content. Love it!. I appreciate and feeling grateful to see this magnificent landscape through your eyes/video. Danke Schön. Be safe and stay safe.
that is some beautiful and bizarre nature! also i'm honestly surprised (and glad) nothing bad seems to happen to you seeing all the places you crawl into/over and considering the wildlife like rattlesnakes... even with your experience its seems like you are taunting your luck sometimes
Wow! Fantastic pro video of a surreal place. Can you tell me what this area is called? The dome you were on? I'm no way going to go there as I am 65 and in no shape to do it. Is it in Wyoming? My parents lived in Rock Springs and Casper back in the mid-1950s. You said it was near the Wind River range. Thanks, and I will check out your other videos. Stay safe out there.
Tremendous video. I would love to see it in person. You were flying your drone while standing on a rock in front of that large fracture. I was trying to piece where the rock you were standing on came from and how it ended up in that location. Anyway Kool video.

AMAZING ADVENTURE. Totally "Wow" effect. Thank for taking us there with you!
Perhaps he has a satellite communicator
Perhaps that’s the point of it. The thrill and danger.
A satellite phone, although expensive, solves the problem.
@@whatgoesaroundcomesaround920 Only if you are able to use it.
Amazing video 📹. You scare 😱 me when you said you were stuck. 😮😢
The granite of Enchanted Rock in the Texas Hill country is another example.
@@billhollinshead Yep! Yosemite is perhaps the most well known example.
Ya. He says pretty much that in the video. ;)
This is what he talked about in the video 😂
Wowza!! Your dog didn't like that you were down in the crevasse. I was whimpering along with him
I didn't like him going in there at all. 😆
Dog can sense danger more than its owner apparently.
Looks like a giant granite batholith surrounded by the desert expanse of Arizona. Morning sunlight makes a haunting but
beautiful calendar like landscape view.
Led Zeppelin!!"
You are a young man after my own old heart!!!!❣
Drone work is big screen worthy. Great video artistry & editing.
What a fabulous find...you must have a very keen eye while on Google Earth to find these places.Truly thank you for sharing!
Incredibly amazing scenery! Thanks for including the geology information about how they formed and how they are eroding.
Considering the wind your drone is quite STABLE. What brand & model were you using ?
That's incredible. So many places to die out there. Watching you step over crevices by yourself is giving me anxiety.
Once again I'm amazed. Thank you for sharing. You extremely brave and I love your dog. I think you two are great! 😊
I studied geology at The University of Melbourne Australia and was delighted to find your video. What a fantastic place. Thanks so much for sharing.
There is nothing to do with so called geology in this video, dear man
@@EvaLapinska lol what, this was a treasure of geological formations, dear eva.
@@EvaLapinska Huh???? Rocks are geology. The processes that form these rocks isn't geology? What do you think geology is?
UNREAL!!! that is I think one of your best masterpieces . I am in awe of your skills with the drone shots .
Happy trails to you bro .
At 15:05 what was that structure bottom off center left that your drone flew over dis you explore down there at all just being currious
Youre not kidding about the landscape looking like an abstract painting. It looks quite unreal but it's real. Amazing video beginning to end. Thank you and a big thanks to your faithful friend.
I kept thinking the rocks were much smaller until be zoomed out and was tiny in the frame.
One of my favorites of yours so far. What a cool place. So many of those stones look carved, so beautiful ❤
I'm for the DOG you know he loves the adventures 😊 stay safe love these videos ❤
Really cool steam engine powered dog 🐕 my favorite 😍
Your comment brings back memories of a chocolate labrador that hiked those same granite slabs with me back in the 1990s. She carried a backpack too. She carried her own food and water up the mountain, and she carried jade down the mountain on the trip back to camp each day!
Does he have a limp? 5:56 . The trouble with dogs is they'll stick with no matter what pain they are in.
Subscribed! :)
Your pup worries about you. Fantastic place. Thanks.
This is the most amazing place. Where are you? I am truly amazed at your sense of adventure. Do it while you are young, you will never regret this! Thank you for sharing.
aye... and if you're lucky you'll be doing more limited versions of this into your 70s (me) and perhaps beyond (RIP Bill Denneen)
Looks like Wyoming to me. Not sure exactly where
Granite mountains of Wyoming south east of Yellowstone and grand Teton. He's on moonstones south side.
@@wobblye thank you, I just asked this in the comments. Totally amazing.
Led Zeppelin? My respect for you has only risen.

Right.
What?
@@ookie4179 Zeppelin is great, it's Primus that sucks.
It was a blessing stumbling upon your channel. Absolutely mesmerizing.
Please keep up your hard work!
Very Immersive, that's really an amazing style you have of making these videos. I think anyone that sees one of these will watch everything on your channel, its really awesome.
... upon my first wake up with a few snakes coiled next to me for warmth - was my last without a tent/shelter of some kind lol ... safe travels ...
Ive seen lots of rattlesnakes while hiking the mountains in this video, but thankfully none ever crawled into bed with me!
I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this amazing place. Such beauty. So many questions. Thanks for taking me with you.
I've been hiking that mountain range for thirty years, and it's still hard to wrap my head around it! Lots of it feels simply otherworldly!
@@tedpreston4155where is it?
What range is it???@@tedpreston4155
I was so afraid you were going to fall into that crevice, or get stuck in it, or slide off the side of that mountain - but instead you were nearly stampeded by cattle!! LOL. I absolutely LOVE your channel. The footage you share is absolutely amazing and breath-takingly stunning.
PS: What's your dog's name? S/he was kinda freaking when you were in that crevice!!
What an awesome place, incredible puzzle! Thanks for sharing it. Watching it from my couch, in sunny Brazil. Haha!
with all the places in the world to be, and increeping age, i will probably never get here in person, so i am grateful for the tour. i would have stopped an appreciated all the same things, so thanks for the exploratory ramble! the drone footage is such a beautiful addition. that standing stone at 16 min blew my mind! and the giant slab, the sunset and rise and and and… also really appreciate the wind only soundtrack. the utter peace of these wild places and how us little humans can get in touch with the immensity of our universe is what i most treasure about being in places like this in person. thanks again. ps the cows thought you were bringing food. out on the range its pretty much the only time they see humans so its a big connection for them. they are also just curious animals in general, i loved hanging with my cows back when i had them, but the first few times it definetely is freaky to see a herd of large animals running at you with no barricade in place. lone bulls on the other had can be another matter, be cautious around them!
Visually stunning. Thank you!
About the sun. It is actually the same size at the horizon as it is at the peak. If you roll up a paper into a tube the size of the sun at horizon level... It will be the same size at noon. I recommend doing this test with the moon to protect your eyes.
Beat me to it. Purely subjective response when celestial objects are close to the horizon.
@@dnomyarnostaw it certainly does not change its size but we we see is not 100% subjective to human relationship to objects
there is refraction going on through the atmosphere as it is being seen through a thicker layer ... this acts as a lens for the sun rays and can make it look larger, or smaller
With that out of the way, I LOVED this content! The split rock had me messed up and I was like TOOEY (I always spell it wrong) going up it like a champ
First view? the video has been out 10 minutes and is 26 minutes long.Did you watch it on 3x?
You are brave soul as is your dog friend! Amazing footage!! Thanks for letting me live vicariously through your adventures!! I love your channel! ❤❤❤
Another great video. Thanks!
What a cool dog.
What an amazing place! Thanks for posting😊😊
The pause button can also come in very useful
To the POVchannel >>>>>> Whose house is that at 15:04? There's even a road leading up to it. WOW !!!
Good catch! It's just waiting for one of those rock slabs to come crashing down through it.
I saw that too. The road looked well used too. Would love to live there.
@@Simonjose7258whats red(utube premium?) & how will it make it so clear to you? 4k?
i think its for cows you can see them when you see the building
Seems like a great spot and also a not so great spot all at the same time. A huge rock slide would not be so fun
The drone footage of you standing on that "pebble" alongside the wall makes that look very small, although it probably weighs more than an automobile. Great content as always, thank you. At 26:40 there appears to be a building, is that possibly something involving those cows?
So beautiful. I love being in places like this alone, the sense of peace and joy is beyond anything else. Thank you for sharing.

also i'm honestly surprised (and glad) nothing bad seems to happen to you seeing all the places you crawl into/over and considering the wildlife like rattlesnakes... even with your experience its seems like you are taunting your luck sometimes
