Every time I see one of these blackening videos they always use metal channellocks or needle nose pliers to pick up the piece being blackened. I'd use kitchen tongs with silicone ends/tips, with steel handles. Just a recommendation to prevent any scratches and achieve a better result. Hope this helps. Thanks.

With the gas and flame you used to boil the water, you could heat the metal and spray it with oil. Better result.

important to notewith this method is that the hardness properties might change, if it had any heating procedure done before

Отличный результат, интересно увидеть механическую стойкость каждого из способов. Ещё как-то крепким чёрным чаем тоже делают.

Won’t the vinegar make the metal flash rust? Or does it make it turn black when hot? Do you heat it until the water boils? Would it be different if you heat the vinegar directly and not in the water bath?
    Thanks in advance

It’ll work poorly or not at all. Every fingerprint and dirt will be marked on whatever you’re costing. This is true in any costing, even paint. Grease repels everything and don’t let it “stick” to the surface which is what we need.

Imagine HOW MUCH BETTER these videos would be if the author SPOKE (Talked) and explained what they are doing.
The caption overlays are almost useless.

No acid concentrations stated. Totally inconsistent time periods. Useless results!
    1:24 - checking after 10 minutes
2:05 - why are you showing us 10 minutes again?
2:34 - checking after 40 minutes? (We have to guess)
3:17 - one sample already taken out, now says "+60 min" - why?
3:41 - two samples out, now it says "+120 min" - why?
And finally, after 5 minutes of voiceless videos.... we find out that *NONE OF THE METHODS ACTUALLY WORKS* !!

what are you talking about? It is pretty straightforward and results are obvious

@@nasevikaadamko - we know know that this "experiment" basically failed. But we will never know what time periods he used (he contradicts himself numerous times) nor what concentration (amount) of acid he attempted to use... so we cannot learn anything at all from this.

      @endy7432 Рік тому +3

ill put it into simpler terms so you may understand too but it is rather obvious
after you plop your steel object:
wait 10 minutes and scrub it with a cotton pad (10 minutes elapsed in total)
wait another 10 minutes and scrub it with a cotton pad again (20 minutes elapsed in total)
      THEN:
IF VINEGAR: wait 40 minutes and then scrub it with sunflower oil and leave it be (60 minutes elapsed in total)
IF CITRIC ACID: wait 60 minutes and then scrub it with sunflower oil and leave it be (80 minutes elapsed in total)
IF COCA COLA: wait 120 minutes and then scrub it with sunflower oil and leave it be (140 minutes elapsed in total)
also not to mention you can just look up the brand of citric acid powder he uses and find out the concentration in that way, he uses a single tablespoon of the powder (so that equates to roughly 14ml) and so there you have it, not that hard
and finally, even if you dont manage to find the exact concentration of the pack of citric acid powder, the fact is that citric acid powders sold in general stores do not have concentrations of such dramatic variety that it would make any notable difference in your end result

@@endy7432 - Well, the video doesn't contain any of that information that you kindly shared. Seems that (based on this video) it doesn't really work.... It doesn't seem worth waiting hours for an unknown (and probably poor) result.
I am not interested in unknowns - I'd rather use something that "just works".
