Oh! Absolutely they should 🔥 "the man's too big, the man's too strong" ... the best single chord drop ever.. fantastic drama!!
Such tender fingertips 🙏 Mark Knopfler brought back guitar solos after a long hiatus. And he did it all himself - what a humble and predigious talent .. a guitarist's guitarists.

Love you guys ❤️Where Have All The Flowers Gone? by Joan Baez. Some in the world think Americans love war because we seem to be in it....constantly. Our brothers, sons and fathers have died on foreign soils in war after God forsaken war. Russia is a dick. Not the people, the government. Anyway, I am so sorry you had to experience that. Love to you both.😢☮️❤️❤️❤️

I think the song is written in the first person. A soldier who is dying in these mist covered mountains, his home now and forever. His thoughts are so poignant and powerful. He seems at peace with his ending while thinking of his brothers in arms and the world he is leaving behind. Sung so softly with that crying guitar, it is beyond heartbreaking. Impossible for me to listen to without tearing up.

Oh I can't stop it. My dad fought in the Pacific in WWII and my brother fought in Vietnam. I saw how it affected them but they were both proud. My dad was buried at age 92 with full military honors and and a letter to us from President Obama. They stayed in touch with their brothers-in-arms forever, my dad into his 90s. My brother went up the river like in Apocalypse Now. It transformed him. He saw his friend blown up right beside him. We stayed in touch during the entire time he was in the service by letters. We are best friends today. I love them both so much!

The vast majority of Americans now living have no personal experience with war, but I know that you and your countrymen do. I cried along with you.....I so much wish that humanity could move past hate and violence .....our inheritance from our past that will prove our undoing if we cannot rise above it.
The biggest compliment that I can pay Knopfler and his guitar work here is that he grabbed a good chunk of Gilmore’s mastery of his instrument, and made his guitar speak to us of sadness and regret and yearning for a better world.

This song makes me emotional because I served in the USMC in the late 70's. All my Staff NCO's were Korean and Vietnam combat veterans. I saw the pain in their eyes , they were treated the worst of any veterans in history. Back then no one thanked them for their service to the USA. I didn't stay in the USMC because of the way we were treated by our government and citizens of this country. Know a days everyone wants to thank me for my service. And I tell them to thank the veterans who trained me for combat. They deserve it way more than me, I didn't have to experience the horror of war because of them. I joined the USMC in 1978 when no one was thanking any of us for our service. I went to 6 other countries and felt more respect from those people than I did in my own country. The Australians treated us the best out of all of them. Because there citizens respect their veterans more than America. I'm sorry if my words insult you but that's how it was for my brothers in arms.

I don't think any one can truly appreciate the emotion of this song unless they have struggled and felt the hardship of a violent war it creates a bond between your brothers and sisters that never breaks, all those people that riot and demonstrate over every thing and nothing these days have no idea of what these brave young men and women went through to preserve there rights to demonstrate and speak freely

Mark Knopfler (like David Gilmour) makes his guitar speak - this is what emotions sound like. If you don't get moist eyes listening to this, you have no soul. Thanks for bringing this incredible piece of music back into the light, in spite of the obvious pain it brought you. Be well - and keep doing what you do (and never, ever apologize for your feelings).

I'm 26 and Gilmour and Knopfler are my top 2 favourite musicians of all time. I don't have a lot of friends with the same taste in music and seeing this comment made me very happy. Cheers to you, good sir.

Beautiful reaction guys. Beautiful. And the track was cut short by whoever posted that video. The guitar plays on for longer on the original, at least by a minute. It’s impossible to listen to that track and not *feel* every note. It’s a masterclass in subtlety.

That was the official Dire Straits video ua-cam.com/video/jhdFe3evXpk/v-deo.html
I'm not sure if the original album track was longer, I have a feeling it might have been. Of course Dire Straits did many versions of the song (like all their songs) in the course of their live performances, and some of them were much longer. One of the better long ones (IMO) was their 'On the Night' recording: ua-cam.com/video/q2rx3IAEISA/v-deo.html
[Edit:] You're right. The official music video is 5 minutes, the album track is 7 minutes, here:

Mark is such a lyrical & emotional guitarist. This was a great piece of music relating to anti-war & how crazy it is but at the same time supporting all brothers in arms no matter who or where they are. When will man or world leaders realise WAR IS INSANE!!!!! But I appreciate & love to see your reaction to this music from so long ago x

Never apologize for showing your emotions. It's one thing humans have the ability to do but try not to. The wonderful part of music is it frees us from holding our emotions back. Peace!

Wow,, very few people can appreciate the devastation of war as can George and Frederick. They saw what war does to a country and it's people first hand even though they were young, they remember the suffering. I joined George and cried because I too felt in my soul what Mark wants to say in the words, in his masterfully constructed cords and in the way he played them.

You guys are the best reactors on you tube, not gonna lie came upon you're channel by accident, so glad I did! You guys are so genuine, realistic and down to earth, other reactors should watch you're channel to learn how to react properly, I'm an old 65 yr old music man, and I'm sick of watching so called reactors on here who just like to blow their own trumpets! You guys are refreshing and I will subscribe and look forward to a lot more of you're reactions. I was at the Alchemy tour of Dire Straits back in the day. They became my favourite band from that day to this. There is no other band on this planet I would rather see/hear. Mark Knopfler is the man, so glad he can reduce other people to tears with his unique guitar work. Genuine guys genuine! Thanks a lot guys greetings from the UK!

Years ago I listened to this song before going to bed. I was warm, my wife and babies were cozy in their rooms..while brave soldiers were losing limbs and life defending our home. God bless them..they made less than minimum wages and had families at home they wrote to and cherished a stamp-sized photo of the one they loved. Unchained Melody is one of those letters sung by the Righteous Brothers you have to hear.

Ive been listening to this song for 35 years. I used to sing it to my baby's to help them to sleep and even still it chokes me up. Watching your reaction video brung me to tears again as the song always has but for the first time ever i felt that someone else was affected in the the same way i have always been by this song. Mark Knofler is a once in a lifetime genious and captured everything profound about war destructiin and brotherhood in one song. Peace be with you both. Hope uou stay safe.
