Sweden always has Finland's back and Finland does the same for Estonia. Latvia and Lithuania are the only true Balts in a linguistic sense but they always roll with Estonia and all three have a strong security relationship with all of the Nordic countries. The Baltics might be tiny but they punch above their weight and they form a potent bloc along with Poland (plus the rest of the Intermarium) and the Nordics.

@thetimekillerx What are you trying to say? Do you mean that countries which does not speak English language are non civilized? This thought shows how imperialist and racist you are. In the following countries people don't speak English or only hotel staff and tourist guides speak basic English the list is China, Gambia, Saudi Arabia, Malawi, Uganda, Italy, Ukraine, Russia, Algeria, Argentina, Spain, France, Georgia, Yemen, Chile, Albania, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Swaziland, Colombia, Tanzania many places in Japan and India, many more to list. Do you say people in these countries are non civilized. The reason for spread of English is not because of civilization it's because of cruel colonization of British, who invaded other countries and killed, looted, plundered, raped, slaved but you call themselves as civilized and others as non civilized, shame on you.

NATO was created against Soviet Union - Communist Expansionism . Since SU and Communism do not exist anymore, there is no real role for NATO. But US is using NATO to submerge Russia ...NATO was a total failure in Afghanistan the last 10+ years . They could not defeat Taliban which ironically the USA created during 79-89 against the Soviet-baked Kabul!

You're so naive and brainwashed. All war departments are called defense departments. It doesn't mean it's for defense only. Lookup the wars NATO was involved in. These wars weren't defensive at all. How is Afghanistan a threat to NATO, yet NATO was in Afghanistan. And NATO was also in Iraq, where US lies about WMD bombed that place to the stone age and murdered millions. These actions aren't defensive.

@@amadeuz8161 You might have a look into International Law of Nations once You seem to have some respect for facts .... following that, Russia is the part rightfully supporting Syria's elected government. NATO are the terrorists there. You might have a look into any halfway decent list of 9/11 perpetrators .... no Afghans whatsoever, more Saudis than any other nationality - NATO and the US do support Saudis in destroying Yemen though for some reason .... And my country (Germany, NATO-vassall and U.S. outpost No. one in the world) was part of the NATO occupation of Afghanistan for 20 bloody years - while, following international Law of Nations, the Sovjet Red Army was, once more, invited/called for by the Afghan regime of 1978 which was about to build a laizist, socialist Nation while the US and NATO members fueled the civil war turning it into an international proxy war by supporting the very islamist terrorists with weaponry and intel they then started to oppress in the 20 years of occupation after the "vengeance bombing" of Afghanistan following the Saudi financed and organized attack of 9/11 in October 2001 ..... The facts aren't pretty, while they still are facts, and International Law of Nations _does_ have a factual paragraph for military support following an invitation/ask for said support from an elected government, while the same very international Law of Nations does not know "regime change" or supporting/weaponizing colorful terrorist groups and civil unrest like it happened in Ukraine in 2003/2004 and once more in 2013/2014, the latter widely known as "Euro-Maidan", which was a violent putsch then Vice President Joe B. orchestrated with the support of a lot of U.S. agencies and organizations like Soros' "open society foundation", an international terror-financing front office the U.S. services use in a lot of countries (also financing/organizing civil unrest against Lukaschenko in Belarus after his reelection in 2020 for example). We today even know (or could know, would we want to) _why_ then Vice President Joe B. organized the Oligarchs' putsch of 2014 once we look into his son Hunter's curriculum vitae and financial matters .... nothing whatsoever International Law of Nations would know of as legal or even legitimate acts, that mingling with local "interest groups" for an unfair share of the loot, to put it mildly ....

Some errors. The submarine in your animation comes from St Petersburg, not Kaliningrad. Your red coastal line goes across Kaliningrad which is part of Russia. Submarines can go from Kaliningrad to Denmark without going through NATO, so what you said isn't true.

The Baltic sea is pretty shallow but some salinity effects are making tracking submarines somewhat difficult. The Kola is where they have the big submarines and a lot of military installations so that may be more critical for Russia. Likely they will have no way to avoid secret rockets, cruise missiles, and drones launched from the rocks of Finland, Sweden, and Norway. NATO is for defense but in the Russian mindset, they will have to meet this challenge and pay the price which might be substantial.

@@bjrnhjortshjandersen1286 1) Serbia was terror bombed at least as much as the Russians have done (I would argue most Russian strikes have been pintpoint). A civilian train was hit. Bridges were destroyed, the Chinese embassy hit etc.
      2) 'Serbia atrocities' were grossly exaggerated, esp with regard to the 1999 NATO bombing (my main concern). In fact the KLA/UCK was in a war against Federal Republic of Yugoslavia forces and committed acts of terror on the internationally recognized territory of FRY. Yugoslavia responded with a conventional counter-insurgency campaign. Naturally people started moving out of the conflict zone, but this was spun as 'ethnic cleansing'.
      3) I had a front seat view to all of this, NATO not only acted as the KLA/UCK strategic bomber command, but as the KLA/UCK tactical air arm.

Russian bombing has been anything but 'pin point' - 30k civilians killed - or are you saying that Putin aimed specifically at them?
Serbia was doing exactly what Hitler did and Putin is doing - expanding territory and not giving a damn about civilian lives.

@@mitchyoung93 I seem to remember Sarajevo being shelled indiscriminately and children being killed by snipers. As well as the Srebrenica massacre. Also, supporting a civilian war against Croatians and Bosnians. I know some of the people involved in that war. Serbian nationalism was destructive and the military was used as a tool of oppression. Not that the Serbs were the only ones. NATO was very reluctant but the atrocities by supported militant groups became too much for the public opinion to accept.
The widespread "pinpoint" Russia shelling and bombing of civilian areas in Ukraine is also not acceptable. Actually, it is even worse when this is done deliberately. The support for Ukraine is overwhelming and for Serbia to be siding with Russia just gives a good reason to keep them out of the EU.

Russia's problem is that it occupied many countries in Eastern Europe after WWII and strangled freedom of speech, action and thought. When the Soviet Union collapsed these countries naturally wanted to ensure that Russia could never again invade and control them - so they joined the one organization that could ensure mutual protection against Russian aggression - NATO. So far from Russia being nervous, they are instead beligerant, aggressive and paranoid. They are also the aggressors in Ukraine and have fed their population a litany of lies and half-truths to explain away the unpalatable fact that they are acting like fascists, whilst simultaneously denying their own population access to the real truth. What do they mean by saying that a sterling submarine is "even" quieter than a nuclear sub? I've served on the former type mentioned in the segment, and it has always been known that nuclear subs are notoriously loud in comparison to even conventional diesel-electrical driven ones, well, because they are nuclear. To cool a fission reaction is not exactly easy, and while diesel engines can be turned off (i.e. switching to electrical propulsion), nuclear reactions can not, hence they keep on producing noise, something that was known to be a problem long before we adopted the Sterling technique. It's the propulsion that defines the type, not weather it carries nuclear armaments or not. I'm not entirely sure how much you can trust this channel on technical details, and/or if it uses similar phrasing just to make it seem more interesting and "fantastic" as news goes, but I'm not impressed.

Sweden and Finland should stand strong against Putin's bullying tactics and threats, and against Turkey's blackmailing attempts to force these very advanced, peace-loving, and competent nations to compromise on their principles and rights to regional security. It is commendable that the UK and the US are standing solidly with Finland and Sweden to dissuade Putin from 'jumping the gun'. The Finland-Russia boundary will double the NATO perimeter in one stroke with the addition of 830 miles. Also, between Sweden and Finland, they will limit Russian maritime access by encircling the Gulf of Bothnia, Gulf of Finland, and the Baltic Sea (together with the Baltic NATO countries: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland). Ireland, Ukraine, and Moldova should join NATO very soon to fill up critical geopolitical gaps in the overall NATO configuration.

Even with Finland not being a part of NATO, Estonia is. The Gulf of Finland is narrow. You really believe that neither Estonia or Finland would not monitor the water between the territorial waters of the two countries? The strait between Denmark and Sweden is nearly as restrictive as the Bosperous in Turkey. Do you really believe that Denmark as a NATO member doesn't monitor marine traffic on Swedens side of the strait. Of course it does, just like Sweden will monitor marine traffic on Denmarks side of the border. Don't git me wrong. The article would be insightful to many people. However, it was incomplete. Why? Time restraint on the length of the article?

The idea that the Baltic will no longer have free passage - is nonsense - the Danish Straits allow free passage of ALL vessels, it is an international water route. Only in case of a war between Denmark (NATO) will the straits be closed. During the cold war, we had lot’s of mine layers, these may come back - but not be used unless there is a clear war. Look up Route TANGO going from Skagerak to the Baltic

He maps and charts keep showing the Russian fleet travelling from St Petersburg which is on the other side of Estonia. Am I supposed to follow the words or the maps?

The Baltic was never Russia's to lose, most of it is an international waterway, and the US and its allies believe in freedom of navigation for all countries including China and Russia. Admittedly, in a war with NATO the Russians would find sailing through the Baltic a difficult proposition with NATO members on both shores. At present neither Finland or Sweden are members of NATO and not likely to be for a while. In any case, they are both sober and responsible countries and unlike some I could name are not likely to pick a quarrel with Russia. We dont need trouble makers in NATO.
