Figured that junk was spam. Congrats Chris. Farm doubling in size is a great achievement. You ought to be very proud. Gonna be super. Best of luck with your new dream.
We got the same opportunity to close on our neighboring property just a couple weeks ago. After waiting 5 years - I can relate - the feeling is fantastic to finally aquire it!
Congratulations! There once was a farmer who won the lottery and not a little lottery but THE lottery. The local news sent a reporter to interview him and he was asked "what was he going to do now?". He thought for a while and said that he was going to continue farming until the money ran out.
So you could deduce from that answer that maybe he wasn't such a good farmer. These days farming is not really a lifestyle as it may have been, rather it requires considerable business acumen.
And with all the business knowledge in the world you could still wake up one morning broke as a joke. A farmer is the only business that doesn’t have a set price on what they produce. Way too many other folks taking profit between the farmer and consumer.
Yes I know that. Need to be a broker to play the Board. An ex boss was waiting for cattle to go up one more penny and just before closing they dropped a dollar. Millions of dollars were lost that day and they ended up selling a lot of property to get back on stable ground. Either way the broker made their money with no worries You can still lose big.
Chris and I have watched you for years I have never made the first comment just enjoyed your content and your wonderful work. However with the purchase of this Farm I don't believe I've ever heard you so excited. Your head is so full of excitement and Visions I am very happy for you.
Congratz on the new property! It's nice to have a new clean canvas on which to paint another portrait! As for the oak - we call them Black Jack Oaks here in Texas. I have a few on my property and I've done everything I can to clear around them and clean them up to promote more growth. Enjoy and I look forward to seeing how you turn your ideas into reality.
Congrats Chris! Love the idea of saving the big oaks, having pastures and cabins. Great vision and can't wait to see the videos of it all coming together. 😊.
I imagine, unless Chris is in some kind of hurry, that you will not see the end of this project until a few years down the road. I'm sorry if I missed this, but are you planning to sell the cabins to pay for the land, or rent them to tourists
Very cool project. Maybe talk with Kapper Outdoors? His channel is all about fixing up farmland and hunting grounds. ua-cam.com/video/W-O8qQZdshw/v-deo.html
Congrats on being able to expand your farm. The cattle will be happy with the extra pasture. The cabin idea is a neat idea. Looking forward to future videos of you transforming the new property.
Wonderful! How exciting to have finally gotten your dream farm! I know you've been doing UA-cam for a long time, and it's nice to see how some of that income can be converted into long-term income via rental units, etc. You're young right now, but before you know it, you'll be old like me! If you set everything up right, you can have a comfortable work life and retirement without having to work 80 hours each week. You're smart and a hard worker -- I can't think of anyone who deserves this more than you!
Congrats on your new property. Those two raised areas that you mentioned appear to be the ground work for railroad tracks running through the woods. I had the same configuration at a property I lived on twenty years ago. With some research, found out that they actual had planned on running auxiliary tracks to a final destination to save time for commuters, although they abandoned the project. Again, congrats on your new acquisition! Also, really like your vision for what the areas will become!
What a gorgeous piece of land. Thank you for sharing your dreams. I love to hear people have dreams and then they start to become reality through sheer hard work, passion and patience. I am so happy for you and your family. Don't forget to enjoy it. ❤❤❤
Congratulations Chris! Seldom does the opportunity to buy land like that beside your existing farm. A wedding venue could be another idea. The cabin thing is working well on farm land here near Charlotte. Can’t wait to see and hear updates on your new property.
Congrats on getting that land! Great investment and plans. That is indeed a Water Oak (a red oak species with spoon-shaped leaves) that is good for lumber but southern oak grows fast so the grains are wider than most red oak.
Congratulations Chris! Good news is the Water Oak likes wet areas like the edges of ponds, streams or swamps. Bad news is the have a shorter life span compared to other oaks of only 60 to 80 years. In my neighborhood and others around us in Tampa, FL many of them are having to be cut down because they are EOL and starting to rot from the inside out. That makes them a danger if we were to be hit by a hurricane and given the home insurance situation in Florida the last thing you need is a claim denied because they claim you knew the tree was a hazard and should have been removed. Probably good idea have them checked out when you start clearing.
It is wonderful to hear the excitement in your voice when you talk about your future plans for your new property, piggies will go to 'freezer camp'.. the ponds, pastures and cabins sound awesome, can't wait to watch future videos of your work on your farms and the contract work by yourself and with Uncle John, always interesting and love your narration, stay safe and well, big love from Australia
Chris, congrats on the nextdoor addition. Definitely going to keep you busy. Look into putting some RV campsites in. We are always looking for a quiet place to bring our travel trailer.
I really like that you see that land as a piece of local history Chris. You took an interest on the pond, how deep it was and where and why it leaked. The fact that this is part of a dream scenario, is superb. Could not happen to a nicer bloke.
Mr. Kennedy put it nicely. Your cabins & ponds, in the future, are a lovely idea. You work hard & have earned your dreams. Enjoy making them a reality. Oh boy, more videos!
21:00 We have ditches like that all these parts… in our instance they were from the civil war. Not sure if that might be the case there? I have no idea what part of the country you live in. Lol
Cool deal ! Venue would be a huge money maker. The numerous venues in our area stay booked. Most 2 years in advance. 💵 💴 💰 Rental cabins also 👍🏼 Can’t wait to see that pond when you make time for the project. Congratulations!
I’m so happy for you! I struggle to get a mental map of how this lays with your property but I’m sure eventually it will become clear. Such extensive plans that may or may not change as your vision becomes reality give all of us something to think about too! Thanks for sharing with us.
Chris when I saw the title I thought - what? you have only recently finished the house. Then you revealed that it was alongside your property. Wow, that is amazing, congratulations. I really look forward to seeing how it develops.
That roadbed is possibly a tram rail put in by one of the original timber companies logging the virgin timber. These tram rail systems were installed in the lower or lowest areas when mules were used to skid the logs downhill. After the timber was hauled out, the rails were then taken up and moved to another site. I live in Louisiana and have even found some of the old rails buried nearby. You may find some yourself as the area is cleaned up. Love your videos.
Well: it's productive land. So you can either farm it yourself or rent it out to somebody else who wants to cultivate it. The key is that it's PRODUCTIVE land.
You want to fence of the cabin site and get in some Boer and Goats in, they not only between them clear the area at lower levels but also clear the smaller trees and flatten of some of the smaller mounds. Best thing is that you won't need to feed them, free land management and doing the work whilst your getting ready for the bigger stuff. No fuel costs!
What a purchase and definitely nice,I’m happy for you! It’s great to have something of your own to invest your skills and time into and at the end of the day it’s your own!
A thought for the venue bar. Contact Mark Bow at Barn Wood Builders in Kentucky and see if he could hook you up with an original log barn with bents and everything. The lady he works with for interior and exterior design does a phenomenal job. People would flock their to have parties or get married. Congratulations on finally scoring this property and good luck with your new adventure!!!
Those ridge and furrows you showed us, if they don't go anywhere possible they were used for a drought proof vegetable garden, ridged up enough to prevent crops drowning in winter and wet enough to wick up water in summer. We have many such gardens in east anglia where server summer droughts are common dating back to 1815 to 1880 and built on spring lines and wet ground.
I’m no expert but that oak looks like a Pin Oak. I love hearing you say you want to save the trees. The area I live in In Texas is growing by leaps and bounds. Clear cutting trees is an everyday occurrence. Breaks my heart. Congratulations on getting the average you wanted. It’s beautiful.
I am rapt that you have the new land and really look forward to seeing it all unfold. It is so exciting ! Land and trees (and tree growth) in the US is so different to Australia - I am always amazed. I start my day watching your video - so cannot wait to watch this project.
Congratulations on your new purchase, very nice that you were finally able to purchase what you’ve been wanting! Your plans sound wonderful, it’ll be interesting and fun to watch as you start implementing your plans for the property! Biggest challenge I see for you is finding time, what with all the work that everyone else wants to hire you to do. Best wishes that you’ll be able to complete your own dreams for the property in the very near future!
Always fun visiting a property the first time after you close; even if you have seen it extensively before you purchase it. Like now you are free to fully imagine the possibilities.
Sounds like a good plan. The weird looking road is probably an old dummy line. Timber companies built them back in the day to haul logs. When you dig there you'll probably find old railroad spikes.
That road may be an old railroad spur from a long time ago I have something similar to that on my property and was told that's what it was! Congratulations on the new property!
We have some of those strange ditches and roads also. As best as I can figure, some are access roads for old slave houses back when this country was all cotton. When I was a young kid, we had a friend who’s grand dad was a slave, he use to tell us about all the small houses that were scattered throughout these bottoms and fields. Some may also of been old rail lines for transporting cotton and timber short distances. Good luck with your farm, it’s a never ending adventure
First time I’ve seen one, but I looked at the native oaks for NC and I think you’re right about it being a water oak. Those leaves are pretty distinctive.
Congrats Chris, you earned that. Nice farm addition you picked up. Those ditches and "road" might have actually been irrigation ditches for whatever crop they were planting on the raised flat "road" parts. Looked like they were evenly spaced and about the same length.
Sounds like a great plan, these days you have to diversify as my mum says “ never put all your eggs in one basket” looking forward to see your plans take shape. Farm holiday let’s are big here in southern Germany.
Well that's going to be a good little extension to your property and of course there's pawn work. And best of all you can have one hell of a fire. Good stuff! Looking forward to seeing it happen. 👍👍🙂🇨🇦🌲🌳🔥
Chris, I am no dendrologist, but having to identify trees while working in the surveying field, I have seen this tree over most of the lower ground (damp to wet) around the southwest area of the Tenn. River bottoms where I live. We identify your trees as Water Oaks, which are identified as such in most "tree books" I have or have seen.
That little road crossing the through the branch is called a dummy line. They use to use steam trains to log with and they called them dummies. If you dig on top you will probably find pieces of the old rails. They are a few sizes smaller than modern day rails
With the future pond plans .just think maybe you and Chris Jr can go fishing in pond near the cabins along the large Oaks. Now that would be something to see. Make you want to start up Barney and Betty and start moving dirt.
That road with ditches was for a narrow gauge railroad track. Logger used them to pull logs out , sometimes pulled with animals or small steam engines The rails were pulled up and move to the next job
Congratulations!! It's nice to see that hard work does pay off. You'll have a beautiful piece of property when you're done. Hope all your goals come to be. Good luck not like you need it. Seems like when you set your mind on something you make it happen.
Very beautiful addition to your Farm!...And your vision will become a reality before you know it...After I am done here and bored , I'll come give you a hand 🙂
Congrats on your purchase, sounds like you have it all mapped out what you want to do. I've got 100 acres & 3 "Glamping" tents in Northern NSW Australia, They're great once you have them all set up... Can't wait to see the projects get under way :) Keep up the good work.
So pleased to see that your enthusiasm for your new property, has inspired you to show us your future projects, I look forward to seeing the videos, well done Chris, a fantastic beautiful 31 acres of land for you.
Congratulations on the new farm purchase. A lot to look forward to. I love trees, especially oaks, but you may want to have your local logger take a look at logging some of those before you see die off! Best wishes.
Ignore the spam comments saying you have won a prize. There are no prizes..
Figured that junk was spam. Congrats Chris. Farm doubling in size is a great achievement. You ought to be very proud. Gonna be super. Best of luck with your new dream.
Thanks for the notification LetsDig18.
Shit I thought I had won some land 😕
Cant u delete them
Copy that
Wow!! Congratulations! Very nice purchase there. Can’t wait to see the different improvements you end up making. Lots of cool videos to come.
It's beautiful land Chris, congrats on your purchase! Now we've got another 20 years of video to watch!!!

Between the pasture, pond, trees, and underbrush- some excellent deer and wild turkey habitat.
I’m happy for you Chris! Can’t wait to see the future vids.

Very cool project. Maybe talk with Kapper Outdoors? His channel is all about fixing up farmland and hunting grounds.

You are still a young man Chris, you will have plenty of time to realise your ambitions, well done to you, love from the UK.
Congrats on being able to expand your farm. The cattle will be happy with the extra pasture. The cabin idea is a neat idea. Looking forward to future videos of you transforming the new property.
Post oak but my dad called them native oak

I second your statement about old railroad bed @ 20:30 in the video that’s what it looks like to me
rail track bed was the first thought i had too tbh
I agree Railroad road bed. The RR loves to have a ditch on both sides
Well luckily you know a guy that is really good with heavy equipment and knows stuff about how to see your dream come true.
What a gorgeous piece of land. Thank you for sharing your dreams. I love to hear people have dreams and then they start to become reality through sheer hard work, passion and patience. I am so happy for you and your family. Don't forget to enjoy it. ❤❤❤
Landlord Chris - hope you'll fight against famine now. 💪
Congratulations Chris! Seldom does the opportunity to buy land like that beside your existing farm. A wedding venue could be another idea. The cabin thing is working well on farm land here near Charlotte. Can’t wait to see and hear updates on your new property.

You work hard and put in long hours and deserve every success. Thanks for sharing it with us. You have earned it the old fashioned way. Carry On.
That "weird road" looks like the old railroad beds we have all over the place here in PA. There were probably track on them at some point in the past.
That's an understatement...
Never seen so many abandoned RR track beads...
I was thinking the very same thing.
Old tram I'd say. A lot in SW Arkansas.

Looking forward to seeing your thoughts come to life! Congrats on the land purchase. Land and cattle are a great investment anytime!
Love your plans, looking forward to videos of progress.
That road with ditches was for a narrow gauge railroad track. Logger used them to pull logs out , sometimes pulled with animals or small steam engines The rails were pulled up and move to the next job
That paddock and the barn idea would be great for a earth moving and tractor show.
Congratulations!!! You've worked hard to get where you are. Blessings to you and yours.

Congratulations on the new farm purchase. A lot to look forward to. I love trees, especially oaks, but you may want to have your local logger take a look at logging some of those before you see die off! Best wishes.
