OTTOCAST U2 Air Wireless Apple Carplay Adapter | Fastest AND Best Option?!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 тра 2022
- In this video I look at the Ottocast U2 Air 2022 Wireless Apple Carplay adapter dongle for Apple Carplay. Is this the fastest connecting Wireless Apple Carplay option out there? I am not sure but given that it only takes 18 seconds to connect, I am very impressed. It is also very small and easy to hide which is a plus given the tight cabins of some cars.

Apple really needs to release its own wireless adapter, that way you know it will work. All these reviews online are mixed some say it works others say it’s trash and it really makes me weary of spending 100 dollars on something that won’t work.
It's because they're so many car models out there that with different internals. Unless the car manufacturer regression tested these 3rd party accessories, there's no guarantee it will work or work perfectly.
Then again if they are going ahead to spend the time to test it, they might as well just invest in implementing wireless natively
The regular one works great, but the max is a mess.
if apple make one it will cost you 300$ or more
I’ve spoken to some engineers that have told me Apple CarPlay and android auto is actually very very difficult to put in vehicles. It’s not as simple as people think. To mirror apps to your phone screen and have the steering wheel buttons work with it is very intensive.
Get an ipad bro
Thanks for the review.
For the steering wheel controls- "skip and back", volume, etc. thanks again
Amazing review
BTW folks, he's not an Apple person - just so we know :) Helpful review, I may be giving this a shot.
😂😂😂was thinking the same thing 🤦🏻♂️
Thanks dude
Crazy at 3:07 mine had the same TV Samsung Q8 services on the list of other Bluetooth devices.
Does it play UA-cam videos in full screen?
Hey, I was just curious how it works when using Siri? Like if you’re in CarPlay and you ask Siri to make a call or respond to a text message does it automatically go back into the last source you were in such as FM radio or Spotify and such?
The reason I ask is because the current Carlinkit 5.0 is having issues with that on CarPlay in my 2022 Tacoma
I just got one today . And it doesn’t work , volume is not working.
Does it have audio lag when playing movies or video
For some reason mine won’t automatically connect when I turn my car on
Thanks
Sorry, I have a dumb question. I have a 2013 RAV4. It has a screen but doesn’t come with Apple Car Play. If I purchase this device and plug in with my car, it is not going to work right?
Did a car already had a apple car play, or i can use it for a Mazda mx-5 2016?
Did you connect the the iPhone device wired or via BT ?
I have a 2019 mercedes b class w247. I can't access carplay because I have to buy this option from mercedes to be enable.. if I use this ottocast u2-air pro will carplay work?
I recently bought a generic CarPlay Box and tried to install that on my Defender car seems not working or may be I didn’t know how to install. The Manuel wasn’t clear enough.
Will this work with 2017 Lexus rx350? Thanks
Will this product work if kept in the center console or does it have to be out to get a connection? My plugs are in the console and I like the clean look.
It should work fine hidden away.
Great review. I also bought the same product for my 2018 Kia stonic. It’s works perfectly.
Just one question: when you turn off the car, turn off the car stereo and close the car (or simply open the door) does the dongle stay on in your Hunday? on my kia the blue led on the dongle never turns off unless I unplug the usb port. thank you
That would more depend on the car rather than the dongle itself. It depends if the USB you are using is running off a switching 12v or if it's always on. If the USB socket is always on, then yes as you say the only way to turn off the box is to unplug it. Most cars switch the USB sockets off when the ignition is fully switched off. But it's nothing to do with the box but entirely on the car.
@@TheJVCManthis, in my ram 2500 the USB is always on, when the 12v plug isnt
Hey will this CarPlay adapter works with the Lincoln MKZ 2014 ?
So is the audio delayed?
Ram has a setting in the car system settings that allows changing how long USB devices stay powered on. Might be worth a look.
Great review. Does this let you pair multiple phones, and switch them as needed ?
Was expecting if you could answer my question. Does it support multiple phones ?
@@lightsection I mean If it’s Bluetooth it should 😂
This product is only connected to one mobile phone, if you want to connect this product with another mobile phones, you need to manually disconnect and ignore the Bluetooth and WIFI of the connected mobile phone.
Does it work for dodge & uconnect
those one will not automatic connect your call if you was in middle of the phone call, black and freeze your screen sometime. I had to return this unit eventually
Will this work with a 2014 Chevy Camaro?
can I connect all the time ?.
t
Anyone know if this works on lexus 2017 Is300h?
When you’re running navi via the Apple car play, can you co-pilot play music via a separate phone?
Yes please . I’m looking to do just that . Can you please demonstrate ? Thanks so much . Apple car play nav from my phone then music from my daughter’s phone. Thanks v much
@@mele2259 it depends on your car. it should work because u can just connect the bluetooth to co pilot phone and play music there then just have carplay nav on
I can use carllay on my car and connect to another phone playing music.. I've done it before. I had carplay connected for the maps while my friend connected via Bluetooth so he can play music
Hi I have one of these and it’s great so far. It seems to connect via wifi and Bluetooth? Does Bluetooth always have to be on or can it connect via wifi/4g?
Bluetooth initiates the connection between the two devices. If you turn it off, I believe it will not connect.
Is it a android unit? I have Toyota C-HR 2021. My unit is not android. How do i conect wireless to mi Toyota.
Does it play movies or UA-cam
But man, how about call quality?
does it play netflix/youtube/disney plus at the rear monitor/screen?? thanks
it doesnt i just got mine
Does it play Netflix or Hulu
It’s biggest appeal to me is it says it plays Netflix. Any way to test this out? There wasn’t a Netflix icon, but you said it’s a work phone so you might not of downloaded that.
This adapter does not do that. They make other models that do
how can i play netlfix or youtube in my lexus using ottocast. or do u know any other devices that allows to watch netlfix in the car?
U actually need a unit jailbroken. Netflix and stuff isn’t allowed for safety reason
YES YOU CAN BUY ONE THAT DOES VIDEOS AND PHOTOS
Take a shot every time he says dongle! 😅😂
Mine disconnects in between
Would this work on a 2017 Prius Prime Advanced?
Yes if it has Apple CarPlay already
I wasted like two hours trying to connect my aftermarket radio in my Honda Odyssey 2007 and doesn’t work
Have you had any issues with songs skipping I tried four dongles already and they all had the same issues even after updates. For me that's a deal breaker
I don't use CarPlay regularly so unfortunately I cannot speak on that aspect.
All this wireless caraway have same issue, Audio Delay phone call or listen to music on Yt
If a car already has CarPlay capability, what benefit does this device bring? I’m here to find how to get my iPhone controls onto my 2012 Honda Civic factory 6.5” screen head unit. Thanks, I hope someone can help me figure this out.
It makes it wireless. You don't have to plug it in. Some people don't seem to understand that keeping it in your pocket on the way to work is just a nice benefit. 🤷
Hello I have a 2018 Toyota Kluger or Toyota highlander, will it work with it because I am not sure that it has wireless apple car play capability
@@Parmindersingh-pt3vcREAD YOUR MANUAL
I bought this and it paired. Connected my contacts. But never gave me the option for CarPlay nor did it ever pop up on my screen. Can someone tell me what I’m doing wrong???? 😅
in the setup up process you need to click SYNC on your phone after connecting to bluetooth.WATCH THE VIDEO AGAIN.
I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max. The connection is Apple lightning. And the car has a usb regular port. I already ordered this thing. Will it work?? The video shows usb C type connection. Does it have a regular usb connect between the dongle to the car???
duh..... USE YOUR APPLE CABLE or any cable with a lightening plug
@@ozflyer1fkkku 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂
Can you mirror your iPhone with this device?
Not that I am aware of
So here’s a question. I plug my phone into the car to charge it anyways, what is the benefit of this device? It doesn’t charge your phone and it doesn’t provide CarPlay for vehicles that don’t have it. I don’t get it
Why do you plug your phone in to charge? Do you have an extra long commute? Does your phone have poor battery life? This device converts vehicles to wireless with wired connections so most of us can get in our vehicle and go. Nothing more annoying that taking your phone out of your pocket, plugging it in, and then making sure you have a spot to put your phone.
I’d like to add that you can always use the 12v sockets throughout the car to charge. I know it’s pretty early 2000s, but it’s still a viable option for charging
Think the point of it is Netflix and UA-cam on your car stereo you can’t do that with regular plug in CarPlay. Because otherwise I’m not paying a hundred buck or more because I’m to lazy to plug my damn phone in
If you want a MagSafe charger for car then you will be interested for this.
Can you make phone calls? The phone's BT is connected to the dongle, not to the car.
Yes, you can still make phone calls.
Did you check that the phone buttons on the steering wheel work?
@@IlanAmity The voice button on the wheel will activate Siri instead of the built in voice system. I cannot recall what happens when you push the button when on the cars regular software with the dongle plugged in. I would assume it would activate the built in voice assistant but can't say for sure.
@@JustinKelly YOU NEED TO SETUP UP THAT WHEEL BUTTON TO DO WHAT YOU WANT IT TO DO.... LIKE MAKE A CALL INSTEAD.
Did he say he is not familiar with iPhone and Apple Carplay?
How do you get it to play Video on the CarPlay screen? Did I miss something on that?
You need a different adapter
@@JustinKelly I honestly thought that is wha this was. The dam commercials i keep seeing made it seem like this was it. Which one do i need then? That will do this wireless CarPlay and play vids?
@@Thomasjcolbert82 you’d need to find a different adapter that gives you apple carplay functionality. these units mostly work by relaying a signal from the adapter to ur phone. these are just suppose to give you “wireless” functionality
Will it work on my 2015 lexus RX350?
Do you know one that will charge phone also
no such thing.... to charge your phone it needs to be plugged into the car
Dongle :)))😂
Does it works on car that didn’t have wire CarPlay?
No
If you have an aftermarket radio with Apple CarPlay, it does work for that.
I have a 2016 Ford Fusion. How do I know if it is "wired" for Car Play?
Plug an IPhone into the USB and see if it pops up.
@@JustinKelly I had already plugged in the iphone and car play does not come on, it does in my 2017 Explorer.
Hi this work for radio factory on 2016 Nissan Altima thanks
Yes if it has wired Carplay
The have usb for music
@@JustinKelly how do you know if you have CarPlay?
Does your car build in CarPlay ? It’s look so easy to see you install !
Yes!
i have an android, does that work with a galazy?
No, Apple only. They have other ones that will.
It is irrelevant whether you’re a ios/andos user. If you have Apple CarPlay you can also use Android Auto.
The problem with carplay are;
- audio lag include phone call
- disconnect
- phone throttle
You can’t really review something just out of the box. You have to use it for a month to find issues with these dumb box.
However, the issues with CarPlay are CarPlay issues, not due to the wireless adapter. So... I'll take what I can get lol
I can get this work on the 1 USB port by my radio, but not the 2 USB port in my console. Any ideas?
You would need to make sure the console one has data transfer. If not, then it won't work.
Most off the usb are for charging usually only one for data transfer
Doesn’t your car already have CarPlay tho?
This work with mazda 2017?
If it has wired Carplay, yes.
As usual ordinary instructions about where this Phoenix software is or how to get it to fix the Android version. Mine wont automatically connect and all the instructions in the packaging is for Car Play even though Amazon supplied the A2Air Android unit
Would it work on a 2015 Chevy
If it has wired Car play.
How can I connect it in my aftermarket radio
The radio needs to support wired Carplay.
Yes it does
It Drains your battery really quick
Does this get you UA-cam and/or Netflix?
No
@@JustinKelly I appreciate the detailed response.
does this play netflix and youtube on screen?
No
To bad it doesn’t work on all models listed on their website! Terrible customer service. Great video though!
Layer
Does it work for a Chevy Malibu?
As long as your car has built in CarPlay
Great thanks for replying back great video by the way
OTTOCAST U2 Air o OTTOCAST U2-X Pro?
Air I believe
Does it have android auto
No, this is only a CarPlay adapter
I have one of these but I don't know what the hell it does, I've never hooked it up. I have an android. What is it?
The delay is normal, you’re not going to find one that has no delay, because it’s wireless it’s normal for their to be a delay
Android Auto doesn't have the same delay issues as CarPlay.
Doesn’t the car already have apple car play? And connects automatically via blue tooth. I thought the point of these things were more apps. Like Netflix on your car screen.
Some add more features such as that. This one simply converts wired into wireless.
Dude, the thing never connected. All it showed is Apple CarPlay not the adapter projecting what is on your phone. If you had not even plugged in the adapter, you would have had Apple CarPlay display that you showed.
Clearly you don't know how Apple CarPlay works. There is no CarPlay without a phone connected 🤣.
Just tried it with their P3 model and it was terrible. It would not automatically do navigation from my phone and just tried UA-cam and the video quality was really poor. I immediately requested a refund
The delay makes these adapters absolutely horrible. Especially during phone calls.
This was the only one I have seen this delay with.
@@JustinKelly i have car2play and it had a delay with the loading. Sometimes the Apple CarPlay will load as soon as I turn my car on but most of the time it’s a delay.
@@JustinKelly have you used the carlinkit?
Drink every time you hear “dongle”
Just spent 5 buck on an aux cord!😂😂😂😂
Soooo, when you converting to iPhone ?? lol
Never! 😄
Switching to iphone 😆
I dont get how/why these things are so expensive. I looked it up expecting it to be around 15-20 bucks lol
Can u watch Netflix with it and you tube videos
No
Yeah while your driving up the highway lol
The screen in the car is not a TV or monitor so watching TV would not be an option.
It's not an option with this device.
I bought one and received it today. I bought it because the ad claimed this device can play videos on the car screen as well but that’s not true. So this is a scam
Which ad? Are you sure this is the model they were advertising?
@@JustinKelly it was shown on Instagram. I clicked on the link and it took me directly to the device order page. I ordered exactly what was shown in the ad on Instagram.
@@Jiggz9oh so you DIDNT go to the manufacturers page and read??? more fool you. Other dongles do video not this one.
How do we know if you really were using it wirelessly? The phone was hidden the whole time , You could of connect ur phone on the usb and we don’t know that !
Seriously? 🙄
We get it.
You don’t use Apple.
Better to say it couple more times
I really don’t see the point. I just plug my phone in and it doesn’t bother me. First world problems
and after a while youll be getting a new phone port..... enjoy that wont you.
My charge port did die but I am in and out of my car several times per day and I make lots of short trips and I love my wireless dongle, I have a carlinkit 3.0 mini and I am looking to upgrade to a better and faster one
Not to be that guy, you need to relearn reading a tape measure
Sorry, I measured after creating the video.
This is FAKE. This guy was paid to do this, he’s featured on the website with his picture. It went from Ottocast and now it’s Pairr. Same device, same scam
I was not paid in any way to do this video. I was not aware this video was linked via the website.
I think YOU are fake. This item actually sells under a few names.....ALL OF THEM THE SAME. The dearest one branded differently but the same is actually $155. ALL work as in the video.
Bro who cares if u dont like apple this is not a debate if u gonna make a video😂 just show the info
If it can’t cast its useless don’t buy it
Wrong.
@@JustinKelly stop pushing useless Amazon products lmfao
Brokie doesn’t have an iPhone
Actually, I have both.
Why not just plug the iPhone in it’s quicker
I rarely take my phone out of my pocket before driving
Because after time it destroys the port on an iphone. Trust me, every iphone I've ever had eventually the port goes bad from plugging it in every time you get in the car. Also, visually some people don't like loose wires hanging around in their car or having to stuff their phone into the center console.
Low level review
I can watch an android fan. Sorry for you android users. lol
BTW… this crap is junk cuz on phone calls!!! The audio is super DELAY!! So it’s really junk!!💩💩💩💩💩🧐🧐🧐😳😳🥺🥺💩💩
Well I don’t mind the wire but I though I was gonna be able to watch UA-cam 😂 I guess not
