When ever I am looking for help with a project I look for your tutorials first because I know I won’t be wasting my time. This awesome video is no exception. Thank you so much for your time and expertise. I teach knitting and crochet at our local community center and I always recommend your videos for times when I am not available or don’t have the skill set needed.
Compelling to watch. I didn't think I needed to see it because I do have all the crochet hooks, but watched it anyway. It pays to learn variations on a theme. Thanks Staci!
Awesome tutorial! I always wondered why I had so much trouble with it... I was missing a thread in the cast-on! Thank you so much for going so beautifully in-depth. Also, a huge shout-out to whomever captioned this video...he/she is amazing and did an excellent job.
I use an outside company called Speechpad to do the captions on my videos. I have been using them for a few years now, and they are getting better and better at knowing how to spell knitting terms (ie, purl vs pearl). Thank you for the comment!
I usually don’t care for the slow motion tutorials. But now I’m a convert to slow motion tutorials! It being in slow motion makes it easier to understand what you’re doing in this technique. I can see now why some people prefer these to the regular speed tutorials. I like the slow motion tutorials better when you talk us during the video. Thank you so much for everything you do Staci! I would have never learned to knit or crochet without you. It’s a long story as to why it took so long. But I’d tried to learn to knit for 20 years without success before I found your channel.
Essentially as magic loop or circle in a start of Crochet- Great Technique for Knitting as well! Thanks so much for demonstrated it! XX Marie-Wisconsin
Has anyone told you that you are a very pretty little lady who looks a lot like actress Kate Winslet! I have learnt so much through following your wonderful tutorials! Thank you so much!
I like this so much easier. The idea of putting 4 on the first needle is so helpful. Before I could not figure which was the first needle and gave up on dpns.
Thank you so much for this video, I tried watching someone else's tutorial first and I could not get it. I need this cast on for the Musselburgh hat and I'm so thrilled I finally got it!
Wow that would be a great way to do top down hats. Thank you for the tutorial! BTW recently discovered your podcast and have been enjoying that as well.
Thank you, Staci...I’m an old Newbie at knitting and really appreciate your patterns and videos. Just completed your two at a time toe up on magic loop, with the wraps. Your step by step instructions are fantastic and appreciated. I love your slo mo’s... I’m nervous about this pinwheel canton though... will have to practice.... thank you again...
The slow motion action really helps! I just knit two little piggies, beginning with a 9 stitch cast-on. This technique would have worked better than what I did. Thanks for the demo! :)
I'm a new subscriber and love your podcast. A friend and I planned a trip to Canada to visit the Knitting Loft next week and they're going to be closed! Oh well, maybe another time. We'll be hitting all the other yarn shops in lower Ontario 😊
Amazing tutorial. I was recommended your tutorial by Kay Litton aka crazy sock lady for the Musselberg hat and this did not disappoint. Thank you so much.
Hello Stacie! I would like to see a video demonstration of a pattern with the condo stitch. Not many out there and even though it is simple I feel like it would make for a lovely video and introduce something new for some knitters. I haven't seen many patterns with condo stitch knitting but it can make a garment very delicate and open. Take care, Charissa
Staci's videos are amazing as always! However, I'm getting stuck and I'm not sure how to proceed. I am not sure how to know which needle holds the stitches that I need to knit next. I try to guess and then I end up with a big jumbled mess (at least it looks that way to me). It looks like my stitches are crossing over one another and are not laying in a neat circle. Anyone have any hints?
Staci, I'm using sock yarn and following the video fir thIs cast on everything is good till I get to the point of tightening the yarn with the yarn tail and it's just not working. Is there another cast on I can use instead of this one? Thank you
In your instructions, I bought the pattern, you said: entire length is 2.5” (6.5cm) shorter than desired foot length, that means, the total finish of the length ig the foot, including the heel? This is what I understand….plz. And thank you.
Yes, in the sock pattern you're knitting, you want to start the heel instructions when you are 2.5" shy of the full length of the sole of the foot, tip of toe to back of heel. If you don't know the length, you can also find the length by shoe size on this chart. www.zappos.com/c/shoe-size-conversion
This is THE best explanation and demonstration of how to do this cast on that I could find. Thank you for your excellent instructional videos, Staci!

Learning a cast-on like this, brings me back to my childhood days playing Cat's Cradle! Thanks for the video tutorial; it was very helpful.
Awesome! Finally someone teached me to make a magic circle for knitting 💪🏻
THANK YOU! After watching several videos, finally you saved the day!

You have just smashed it out of the park! Thank you so much :-)

Another excellent slow mo tutorial.

Great ! Another way to start the ATX tote. Thank you 😊

Love this version so much! Thanks!! You're a life saver :)
took me about 10 times to get it but I got there in the end
Very nice and slow. ☺
This looks just like the Emily Ocker cast on I learned from Elizabeth Zimmermann.
I agree with Claudia this was a great video. Thanks
So helpful, thank you.
Amazing tutorial. I was recommended your tutorial by Kay Litton aka crazy sock lady for the Musselberg hat and this did not disappoint. Thank you so much.

Do you have a video for knitting a skirt
Wow it looks awesome I love it. But it was too confused to me 😥😓 I’m Mary B from Deer Park, Texas
Can this be done in magic loop??
I think I did it!!
I would like to use this cast on for two at a time toe up socks. Do you have any suggestions to how I could do that. Thanks
I always recommend knitting two AAT toe-up socks individually until you get past the toe, then start two AAT.
Staci, I am knitting the skeino scarf in a scarf that I won from you a few years ago and I need help with the buttonhole
Please contact Skeino directly for help - you can reach them via their website, or Facebook message.

I recommend practicing this cast-on with larger needles and thicker yarn until you get it, you can do it!
Can this be done Magic Loop. Dumb question I’m sure, but I’m a newbie sock knitter?
It can be done with magic loop, but I think it is actually easier with DPNs.
Hi! Can I paste the link of this video in a public Ravelry note?
Yes- that's fine. It's always find to share my videos, thank you for asking.
Excellent tutorial! Looking forward to the sock tutorial! I have a question: Do you prefer wood or metal DPNs?
I prefer wood DPN’s. When I’ve tried using metal DPN’s. They’ve fallen out of my stitches repeatedly.
@@raelynarnold2319 Ditto! I recently started using wood circular knitting needles and will try wood DPN's.
I feel so stupid by fail this ....
I did it ....🎉

😮
Such pretty needless. The wood looks like it came from an olive tree.
Fantastic video! Question - does this have to be done in multiples of 2 stitches?
I think you talk a lot. It's boring. I'm so sorry for the sincerity.
I talk AS MUCH AS NECESSARY to both visually and conceptually teach the technique, and no more than that. No one is forcing you to watch my videos.
@@verypinkknits you're right.
Yes, I'm right, thank you.
