A very concise video..no fancy intro (which is waste of my time). You show tricks how to release fasteners(with screwdriver), what tabs look like and tips on reinstalling. Others don't show the little things that make it easier. Good job.
I absolutely love the lack of music and straightforward nature of this video. I don't like the trend towards trying to make repair videos entertaining. I don't mean this as disrespectful or anything, I really appreciate how you did this.
Thank you for the kind words. We believe in straight and to the point. You did not come here to join a rave. Purchase your next filter at: www.filterheads.com/
I did this and highly recommend that you remove the passenger side windshield wiper (easy to do) and the fourth cowling clip/screw holding the cowling cover. The small amount a time and effort required to remove/replace the wiper and fourth screw make the job 10X easier/faster/less painful than trying to squeeze parts and hands into the cowling. The instructions that come with the filter ass'y also instruct you to do it this way and it's good advice. Otherwise this video is very accurate. Thank you! (don't forget to reinstall the rubber seal!!)
Great video. Shows how it's not a difficult or unusually tricky task at all. This video slowly walks thru the process in a few short minutes. Wish all my repairs/replacements were this easy. Thanks for posting. It helped a lot.
Dagnabbit, I wish I saw this sooner. Im standing out here with an air filter and open it up, sure enough - no dadgum housing. Lol I just put my order in, so glad the price is fantastic too. I'm eager to get this installed because I've just purchased my '06 Jeep GC Ltd a couple months ago and am working my way through fixing some things. I just had to install a new blower motor and resistor. That motor was loaded with seedpods. I could see why, because there was never any cabin filter.
If your vehicle already has a housing then you just need to change the cabin filter. If your vehicle doesn't have a housing yet then you must purchase a housing to install in your vehicle. Once you purchase this housing and it install it into your vehicle you don't have to buy another.
How to back blow out the vents? I don't have a cabin filter and think my vents are clogged. I get a lot of dirt in my glove box and leaves under the cowling. Air is blowing but could be stronger. Fan switch is working in all positions.
If you have a shop vac you can use that to clean out some of the vents. If the vents are really bad you may have to goto your local dealer or to someone who details cars to see if they have a way of cleaning out the vents. We only have videos showing how to change filters and installing housings at this time.
11/2/18 installed the housing and filter. I only need an Allen key. The rest by hands fairly easy. For the record I don't know s. About mechanic. So if I did it, more likely you can!
I installed a cabin filter in mine without the kit. There is a shelf on the inside. Just pull back the plastic cover piece and slide it in along the shelf. Works fine.
I'm going to look into my used jeep to see if the housing is there. This seems like a very good idea and i'm glad I found this vid . We have a filter on our home ac why not our car. a few people on the jeep forums said a bunch of jeeps already have the housing . That at the factory they put it into some jeeps. If so i'll just buy the filter . I'm going to look today.
There is only one cabin air filter on the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Check to make sure your filter and housing is seated properly and hasn't come out of place. Because of the filter's placement under the hood, it may be helpful to occasionally check under your hood for debris and clean out any excess leaves.
We don't really understand why some vehicles have them straight out of the factory and some don't. Hopefully your vehicle has one so all you have to buy is the filter!
Great upload and thanks. Gonna replace mine soon on a 04. Blend door failure so positioned main door to recirculate, always better that way temperature and efficient wise and the black soot nasty in this city.
I`m very tired of breathing the exhaust of vehicles in front of me every time I run the defroster. It`s really bad. I`m worried about carbon monoxide poisoning. Will this fix my issue?

Does anyone have a source for the retaining plastic screws to hold the cowling on? Mine is missing a couple and it just flops in the wind going down the road.
I have a 1996 and terrible smells comes out when I have the heat on. AC not so much but it does not blow cold air. I know the reason for that but I read that my year does not have cabin air filters so where can I find the terrible smell. And how. I can not find videos on my year. Is it the same thing as this video?
The 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee did not come with the cabin air filter option. It would be best to goto your dealer and see if they have a way to clean out your ventilation system.
I bet the bad smell is due to the bad design of the air intake screen for the passenger hvac. They made the screen too large, so a lot of leaves and debris can find their way into the system, and to the bottom of the a/c evaporator. Over years, this breaks down, and also clogs the drain in the system. Just a bad design, which Jeep has updated the screen, but you have to buy it. You also need to clean inside the hvac compartment.

The cabin air filter helps filter dust and debris from entering the cabin of the vehicle. It is especially helpful during allergy season because it keeps pollen from entering the cabin of your vehicle through your air system.
The vehicle in this video is of a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The filter and housing installed is the AQ1097KIT Housing Kit: www.filterheads.com/i-630-aq1097kit-cabin-air-particulate-media-housing.html?ref=category:10
Amazing how jeep don't build cars with a pollen filter even though they have aircon fitted in the car.!!! I live in south Africa and own a 2001 4.7 grand Cherokee. No filter!!!!!. So I ordered a kit using the vin number. What came was a kit for a left hand drive car.!!!!! After research by my dealer it was found that jeep don't make a kit for the cars.!!!!! Can anyone tell me why.?????
In the early 2000s cabin air filters were still a new thing to come in a car and not all vehicle's had this option. The AQ1097 Kit we sell is something you install to give your car the cabin air filter option. The newer Grand Cherokees come with a cabin air filter housing installed.
I own a 95 jeep grand Cherokee limited and a 97 jeep Laredo. Love them both great cars. But the 95 has a really unpleasant odor coming from the vents every time I turn on the heater.I sprayed some special vent cleaner but are there filters in these models located in the same place as the 2000 model that was in the demonstration. If not can you make a demonstration for those models. Thank you.I love my jeeps! :)
