In a Zoom meeting in gallery view it’s quite easy to identify face shapes, including your own. I think seeing many faces at the same time for comparison helps. Looking at just one face is harder.
It’s normal. The mirror reflects exactly what other people would see - just flipped. The camera sees through a lens that is a little distorting, and makes forehead, nose and chin bigger. Plus, even the best camera is not as good as an eye, and will see the shadows darker than they really are, so in pictures you may see pimples, wrinkles or ugly shadows that are not so visible in real life.

love this channel! as a woman with a square shaped face, i'd recommend any hairstyle with layers, particularly shorter layers in the front, longer in the back. it adds more dimension to the face, plus places an emphasis on the jawline if that's what you desire
I suggest you add another "part" (pun not intented) about hair parting. Center/middle parting, off center parting, side parting, etc. These make a BIG difference in how your hair falls around your face and especially your forehead. They also can play up or play down asymmetry in your face, and they can also shorten or lengthen the appearance of your face.
I've found that shapes of noses and eyes also determine what hairstyle would suit someone, it's very varied, lots of combinations can be processed with these in mind
@@mariannek6735hey I agree with this person! But I’ve only personally observed one example, that I can think of. I think (for women at least) larger, rounded eyes are often less suited for straight across bangs, if the woman is going for a more mature look. I love straight across bangs, but I think they look best on a woman like Rihanna, who has long, upturned eyes, as opposed to someone like Emma Stone. I’ve never seen Emma with such a hairstyle, but I imagine she would look about 12 years old lol! I’m sure their face shapes and other features are also factors though.
I prefer style systems like Kibbe that focus on creating harmony of outfits, accessories and hairstyles with the body rather than this idea of correcting your shape so everyone fits into the same cookie mold. There is no one ideal of beauty and it is best to work with what you have and focus on your strengths and uniqueness.
I think it’s possible to use this advice with Kibbe though right? For instance as a TR, my recs are highly stylized and glamorous hair with volume and curl. But as a diamond shape, maybe I should add emphasis for my cheekbones to that rec, curved bangs for my forehead or something like that
i agree. I realized that the goal in these videos is to often eliminate/hide certain facial features that we have using these haircuts and while i do understand that some people would rather hide certain flaws, i wish we'd be more appreciative of our natural face shapes by exploring haircuts that would _compliment_ what's already there.
@@Angie-lp2hk I think people only have to lean into these rules the more their face greatly exhibits a "flaw". For example, it's possible to have a slightly rounded or slightly oblong face, and since it is only slight, you can get away with fudging the rules. However, if your face is really dominantly found or oblong, you might be better served by more strictly adhering to the guidelines. Sarah Jessica Parker is routinely brought up as an oblong face because it's one of her dominant characteristics. She can do whatever she wants but most people like to balance their face out a little bit if given the choice.
Have you all ever looked into David Kibbe's method? I wonder if the bones within the face would impact hairstyles/lengths in addition to the shape alone. Interested in your feedback. Again, a great video! Thank you for all your time and work.
Great video! I would suggest adding a feature which will ask the participant to select which facial features she/he want to highlight/'hide'. We should encourage diversity and embrace our own beauty, not push everyone to the beauty standard of oblong. For example: the participant has a squared face, but likes the hard edges. With this current adaptation you would indirectly tell the person this is not desired, instead of weighing personal preferences.
is your hairstyle recommendation aiming for complimenting your face shape or balancing it in reference to your hairstyle ? if only the latter than I think you should provide both recommendations in because that assumes people with a given face shape don't want to bring out the features that come with their face shape.

I would love to see something like this that goes into more detail about what length and style of bangs would be best. I notice a significant difference in my facial appearance when my bangs are above the eyebrow vs. when they're at eye level. Thickness of bangs can change how a face looks, too; it's currently a trend in East Asia to have thin straight bangs, because they have the youthful impression of blunt bangs without the effect of covering the forehead completely and making the face appear shorter.

I'm a male with a square face, I have always found myself to be better looking with hair that make my head a bit wider than taller. That's why I don't like very short hair
I recently relaxed my hair and can do the split part, surprisingly it suited way better than expected, my hair is still too short to slick it back (slickback is something i always wanted to try) (i got a decent jawline under my beard)
Me: watching a video about the best hairstyles for one's face shape. Also me: literally went Edwardian a year ago and doesn't plan to go back from it. However, I can also push for a more androgynous look thanks to my athletic build, so yeah. I can really go charmingly old school or casual androgynous. Now I need to get back to working with photographers, since the on-going Plague is abatting in my country 😂
Can you please make an analyzation on inverted picture? Why most people feel uncomfortable seeing their faces when it's inverted? Because lately I've seen TikToks about inverted filter and I saw people feeling ugly or uncomfortable seeing their selves in inverted way.
In honor of the Shadow and Bone Netflix series that came out, would you all analyze the main actors from that? Names that come to mind are Ben Barnes, with his youthful face, Jessie Mei Li, with her Eurasian features, and Freddy Carter, with his polarizing (and easily typecast) look.
I hope that you guys have looked a bit into decision theory for the labelling of the training set. The difference in human perception (i.e. which hairstyle fits best) is going to make the distribution of the input-output sets very noisy. The feature engineering part of your proposed conv. neural network is very interesting though, I hope that you guys try out different approaches. What dimensions do your images carry?
@@QOVESStudio Image dimensions. For the feature extraction I suppose that all images must carry the same dimensions (as seen in CIFAR10 etc). I ask this because once you start with the predictions using real photos they must be resized and scaled which might lead to not as promising results as you trained your CNN on a 'standardized' dataset (i.e. all photos are cropped the same way etc.).
@@wamxfl1p653 That's why we use GANs produced from real photos in the database. They all come out 1024x1024 resized and by changing the latent vector, they can be controlled for millions of different expression points. I really don't know what my face shape is. It's sorta similar to the heart, but with much wider cheeks especially when I smile. I also have very youthful features (big eyes, big cheeks, soft features, tall(ish) forehead). I've always hated the way my face is shaped, I think I look cartoonish. But anyway, I have found that I think sideswept bangs, medium to long layered hair, and making sure I have volume is the best cut for that kind of face. The volume offsets the giant lower facial features, the layers frame the face nicely, and the bangs cover my forehead enough to make it less obvious that the sides of my forehead are not as wide as my cheeks. The absolute worst thing I can do to my face seems to be letting my hair grow out so long that the layers disappear and the hair gets heavy and loses volume. This of course also means the bangs are no longer bangs. Pulling my hair all the way out of my face also seems to be a bad move for me. Sorry for the long comment, I don't think anyone's gonna read it anyway but basically I'm just trying to make sense of my weird face shape and maybe help someone who also looks like how I described lol. I'm no hair scientist so maybe I'm wrong but I feel like that's that hair that would look best on this outlier kind of face shape.
Wait, You said that Oval face shouldn't try to add Height to their head? But I thought I had oval face shape because of longer face and cheekbones being the widest part on my face. Jawline is a bit narrower than cheekbones and temples are the narrowest. I don't have strong jaw, but it's not rounded either. When I don't add Height to my face, it looks like my hair was cut too short, and can't cut my hair too tight on the sides either, makes my hair look like a mop. I'm confused now, what face shape do I have?
Reese seems like she has a diamond shaped face, not heart, because of her jawline. Ans Scarlett has a heart shaped face; her forhead is smaller than her cheek bones, she has a widow's peak, and with her chin that all makes a perfect heart.
You should add another line about hair thickness/straight or not because even if a haircut looks pretty on someone, it doesn't mean it's possible to do the exact same because of hair texture

@@raven-kn6lv I agree that type 4 hair on a white woman is rare, I've only seen it on one white woman in my life and it's not the same texture as black type 4 hair; it's much softer but it's more coarse than white type 2 or 3. It's hard to describe.
I would love to see something like this that goes into more detail about what length and style of bangs would be best. I notice a significant difference in my facial appearance when my bangs are above the eyebrow vs. when they're at eye level.
Thickness of bangs can change how a face looks, too; it's currently a trend in East Asia to have thin straight bangs, because they have the youthful impression of blunt bangs without the effect of covering the forehead completely and making the face appear shorter.
oh god icb i went on yt to get away from studying from my data science exam AND HERE YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT MACHINE LEARNING CLASSFICIATION which is exactly what i'm supposed to be studying for
I still find it strange hearing QOVES pronounced like "kooves". I've always read it like "coves".
Same
day 7 of asking qoves to analyze Ian Somerhalder, and Paul Wesley ( Damon and Stefan Salvatore )
I can’t wait for it! It is really hard to me classify my face shape. I’m either long or oblong or hear shape
After years of waffling I finally got hair that I feel suits my face.
Could you make a video on balds? What for facial traits are needed for a bald head.
I find it interesting that the AI told oval shapes to avoid pixed haircuts, while pixed hairstyles are one of the most popular in Japan and southkorea for both males and females who often have oval shapes
That doesn't mean that the haircuts fit their face shapes...
@@AnAdorableWombat well it might do
I'm a male with a square face, I have always found myself to be better looking with hair that make my head a bit wider than taller. That's why I don't like very short hair
Bro long hair would make your head look longer, shorts hairs I think are the best for you
I think long hair would look good, take for example Keanu Reeves
This channel is SO INTERESTING😭
We need this video but for males too qoves
I recently relaxed my hair and can do the split part, surprisingly it suited way better than expected, my hair is still too short to slick it back (slickback is something i always wanted to try)
(i got a decent jawline under my beard)
From what i can see, you don’t have a strong jawline
Try a side ways part too it looks great but if you can pull off mid part you must have symmetrical face or a heart shaped face
@@Ruchaaaaaa You know ahat imma do that for a vid, try multiple hairstyles
@@AA-ff8xg strong.. might be the wrong word.. compared to the naturel models.. i don't compare to surgey models cuz that ain't naturel :)
@@Waryfuls2 i have a naturally strong jawline, yours is pretty weak/average
I just realised your Channel is a walking advertisement of your product
I wish I had a heart-shaped face :( pointy chins are cool
Cher being out there, rocking long straight her with her oblong face shape. Science only gets you so far. ;)
Me: watching a video about the best hairstyles for one's face shape.
Also me: literally went Edwardian a year ago and doesn't plan to go back from it.
I have a heart/diamond face shape, with soft features, so pulling Edwardian hairstyles fit very much into highly feminine features. However, I can also push for a more androgynous look thanks to my athletic build, so yeah. I can really go charmingly old school or casual androgynous. Now I need to get back to working with photographers, since the on-going Plague is abatting in my country 😂
Style and ML? Damn, this is good.
no hairstyles makes me look good😵
No
Have u tried EVERYTHING? Babe don't hate coz one or two doesn't look nice ,everyone has their own good side n bad side.
never thought that my machine learning & ai courses will come in handy for understanding youtube vid ahaha
I think you guys forget the profile and the length between the hairline and the top of the head. Both really matter for layering, bangs and length
Please make a video about glowups/looksmax success
I feel you should include curl type as as that drastically changes the look of the wave and the face
Black Male Recommendation: Temple skin fade...
Can you please make an analyzation on inverted picture? Why most people feel uncomfortable seeing their faces when it's inverted? Because lately I've seen TikToks about inverted filter and I saw people feeling ugly or uncomfortable seeing their selves in inverted way.
We've already made a video on the mirror effect, aka mere exposure, that will answer your question!
@@QOVESStudio Thanks!
So do you have the tool to assess the face shape we may have? Is it accurate? Would love to try. x
Please make a video on Hrithik Roshan Facial Aesthetic 🙏
Love your channel! From Brazil
I would def try this
I hope that you guys have looked a bit into decision theory for the labelling of the training set. The difference in human perception (i.e. which hairstyle fits best) is going to make the distribution of the input-output sets very noisy. The feature engineering part of your proposed conv. neural network is very interesting though, I hope that you guys try out different approaches. What dimensions do your images carry?
Dimensions as in image dimensions or vector array?
@@QOVESStudio Image dimensions. For the feature extraction I suppose that all images must carry the same dimensions (as seen in CIFAR10 etc). I ask this because once you start with the predictions using real photos they must be resized and scaled which might lead to not as promising results as you trained your CNN on a 'standardized' dataset (i.e. all photos are cropped the same way etc.).
@@wamxfl1p653 That's why we use GANs produced from real photos in the database. They all come out 1024x1024 resized and by changing the latent vector, they can be controlled for millions of different expression points. Input images will almost always be higher res than 1024 with how modern cameras are so the result will be quite accurate but perhaps not the 99% you would need for clinical diagnosis. More like a 80-90% theoretical limit
@@QOVESStudio I love that you are answering questions, requests and just comments. It surely shows that you are serious about your work and Willing to interact with the audience on certain matters. Really I appreciate this.
Can you make a video about what taked a face from average to beautiful by analysing/photoshopping an average fave maybe?
Have you thought about lens distortion and camera angles for the part where the face shape is determined?
If you did come up with the algorithm, I would love to evaluate it. As a Machine Learning researcher it would be interesting to understand what it does and I think it would be a good draw for you guys as well
Interesting to see I've done some things "right". The Jennifer Lawrence example helps.
It's all about harmony in face
I have an oblong face, straight black and very long hair work best for me.
Face analysing video on BTS V
Highly interesting work.
So do you have a rough timeline for the release? And also this is super cool will it cost money like the other ones on your website
3 months typically
I have a similar face to Gigi Hadid and Gabrielle Union. Any hairstyle recs?
Gigi Hadid's face shape is square
Reese seems like she has a diamond shaped face, not heart, because of her jawline. Ans Scarlett has a heart shaped face; her forhead is smaller than her cheek bones, she has a widow's peak, and with her chin that all makes a perfect heart.
That Sounds great. Would love If you can suggest haircolor with this Programm too
Estaba esperando este video con ansias :D
La neta, al fin determine la figura de mi cara porque si explica bien...

@qoves studio will this tool work on male hairstyles too?
Yeah, the paper was just outlining the process but we have a system in place for male hair recommendations too.
Me absolutely having no idea what my face shape is
genius content, i needed this video , I need to find my ideal hairstyle :)
This is so cool! I might just take advantage of it!
Commenting for this underrated channel
Nice jawline
3:57 not me having neither a jawline, nor cheekbones
could you do another for male hairstyles? :D
I think one really important feature for determining the hair style should be length of the neck...
Any updates on the hair algorithm mentioned at the beginning of the video?
It's fake. Two years and no news.
Can you make a video about mewing ?
I'm here to figure out if I need to change my hairstyle.
Next up: HAIR COLOR BASED ON SKINTONE PLZ 🙏🙏
what is the name of the app/site to check the best hair ?
What do I do with the diamond shaped face?
Can you do a video on black beauty standards
