When discussing the concept of "visual weight" concerning people's faces, a significant question arises: which society's scale is the observer using to determine what constitutes "heavy" visual weight? It's apparent that an observer's perception of an element of someone else's face is heavily influenced by the uniformity of faces in their surroundings and the prevalent features there. For instance, in a remote African village, every aspect of an Anglo person's face will stand out significantly. Conversely, in China, features of an indigenous African face will carry noticeable visual weight to just about every native Chinese observer. These examples illustrate the arbitrary nature of "visual weight" when applied to human phenotypes, revealing its inherent flaws. For instance, fuller lips may appear "heavy" in a community or in a media landscape where most lips we are collectively exposed to are thin, thus carrying substantial visual weight. However, among individuals with similar genetics, full lips might not stand out at all for their size because everyone's lips are full there. Perhaps it's more appropriate to confine the concept of visual weight to discussions of art and composition, where it belongs. Otherwise, it risks uncomfortably veering into discussions about eugenics and other misguided notions about genetics that should be consigned to the annals of history.

2:37 editing this, It would really help if you slow down not only the pace of your speech, but the motion that starts right when the text appears.
For instance, I had to rewind and pause to catch what the text said there. Please don't be in such a hurry. Moving the pictures as soon as the text appears makes it impossible to read, especially in the beginning stage of your video where you're explaining the foundations of the concept. Speed is not the same as engagement with your audience.
Is there any way you can change this after having posted it? Thanks for the overall lesson
My nose has a loot of visual weight thats all i can say
This is so confusing bc I have a baby face but angular / model features like high cheekbones too
Lmao same it kinda makes me look like a guy it makes me feel ugly but it’s better than having no jawline
"because everyone lives off their parents and spend too much time looking themselves at the mirror"
Monica Bellucci has a low visual weight
At this point, I don’t know what I am. Am I even average ???!!
Can you please do a video on what makes Jang Wonyoung attractive/beautiful?
ideal face is such a sad concept
There is an ideal for everything
@@adrianboamba Still meaningless in the eyes of our Creator.
@@luckyyyinloveyeah, meaningless since there's no creator
@@johnswagger7971 meaningful because there is a creator
@@johnswagger7971 wow youre so bitter
Ambika Mod on thumbnail ! 😍
She is gorgeous, i like her eyes so much !❤
This video is incredibly frustrating to watch. The narrator can’t enunciate, examples are shown and taken away far too quickly, and there is no conclusion whatsoever. What a disaster! 👎🏼
Ending these kids from saying “First” “Second” and “Third”.
The hero we all needed.
You are a Saviour 🙏
@@gXdhwarMine is the 4th comment.
Although there are a few male examples, the concept seems to be very much centered around women faces
Why would you put a picture of Ambika Mod in the thumbnail and then NOT show her AT ALL in the video...????
2:43 are the dots/circles moving for anyone else? i cant tell if im seeing things
they are moving
how high are you lol
9:55 This is why women wear makeups while men don't. If it worked for men, they would all be rushing to get mascaras and eyeliners.
I would argue that culture also plays some role
Men in the west used to wear makeup, male actors still wear makeup so it’s definitely cultural. Also facial hair works as man makeup it definitely changes the visual weight.
Bro makeup enhances femininity not masculinity. It's called sexual dimorphism.
@@DoraWinifred Exactly, makeup works on men, you just have to do the makeup *for a man* not a woman. IMO men don't wear makeup as a show of honor/confidence. Most men see makeup as lying but tolerate it from women because it makes women more attractive, whereas if another man "lies" to make himself more attractive it's seen as "cheating" and people would probably think he is insecure.
Are you dumb? It's not biological.
Ok so low means like basic face nothing new.
High is OH MY GA
no. High visual weight is western beauty standards think angelina jolie (big jaw big eyes big lips) and Low visual weight is eastern beauty standard ( Han So Hee)
I think it's about the contrast
Amazing.. no wonder facial piercings can make such a difference to a face
This is basically the same concept as this channel’s other video of what makes a face “classically attractive” or not.
On back camera I look like I have low weight, but on selfie camera I like have high weight🤔it's so confusing, I always think which version is closer to life
Could you talk about lycopene and astaxanthin as opposed to beta carotene, I've heard online that lycopene and astaxanthin give a better colour of the skin.
I like this vid but I have a comment relating to beauty standards and cosmetic procedures: ts seems so dystopian to me.. like it's normal in our society now to have surgeries done on your face in effort (which is often successful, sometimes not) to be more attractive.. it's just kind of giving like hunger games capitol citizens vibes lol
Tbh, low visual weight just means being plain looking. Having high visual weight could also mean having an unattractive feature that attracts attention.
Btw what is this clanging sound you play throughout the video? For a moment i thought my colleague was annoyingly playing with her spoon in her coffee mug, until i took my earbuds off
not necessarily. low visual weight just means your features are well-balanced so nothing is overpowering
@@cutiepiebbno that is actually moderate visual weight 😭 low visual weight Examples all had makeup here, low visual weight changes drastically with makeup
@@divinelyblessed.soul05but he’s still talking about bone structure and this you can see through make up
@@piccolaradge8333 not really!!! Bone structure can be altered with makeup as well, at one glance it works. However if u stare long enough u will see the difference
@@divinelyblessed.soul05 The high visual weight faces also had makeup. Also in regards to above comment, since low visual weight faces' strength is harmony, it makes sense to say they have well balanced features
Can you do an analysis on Bella Hadid's natural vs post plastic surgery face?
Can you make more Instagram vs reality videos?
lmao i used this to learn art thank qoves
It's just "the most noticeable element". I hate the trend of coming up with new terms to describe things that have already been well described.
9:01 if somebody actually couldn't tell Halle Berry and Rosario Dawson iust because their eyes were covered, they need help... 😂
Gotta admit though I was staring at the brick and not the feather in all the size examples
please do jennifer connelly facial analysis
brootal visualweightpill
Literally noone is talking about this😂
Me beardless: low visual weight, and pathetic baby.
Bearded: high visual weight and epic Assyrian warrior.
Got that backwards.
