If both parents have the same spelling mistake in the gene then child will have that genetic error. We have two copies of each gene one from each parent. If a person who is carrier of the genetic disease marries with non consanguineous partner this will lead to population with large number of carriers of the disease in the society and finally leading to population with overt disease as the time passes by.
