South Indian marriages happen between athe's children or mama's children only when Gotra is different. Its not compulsory that every family had this kind of arrangements.
No gotra is considered only in Brahmins...in our community (vokkaliga) there's no concept of gotra and marriages take place only by family consent between brother and sister's children...not between sister's or brother's children who are considered as cousin brothers and sisters
सदियों से गोत्र को ध्यान में रख कर वैज्ञानिक तरीके से हमारे पूर्वज बताते आये इसका पालन करना हम सभी का कर्तव्य है और अपने गोत्र को जानना भी|

In Kerala cross cousin marriages are only allowed.
It is called marriage between cross sister"murappennu" and cross-brother "muracherukkan"
It is common in South India among all religions. I have been staying in Chennai for last 6 years.

Same caste marriage is also as dangerous as consanguineous marriage. Both should be stopped. This is the missing part of this video. In both same caste marriage and consanguineous marriage, you have limited people to marry with making the genetic pool less diverse.

Coisins are different from siblings. Siblings marriage can cause harm to the baby they make. But not the cousin marriage. In different countries cousin marriages can be seen. In Europe, in some states of India nd even in Africa. There is no point to judge them. It's their ritual.
The gotra thing is wrong because even is south that exists the way they got around it is that only cross cousin marraiges are allowed because the sisters gotra changes after she gets married. Old age practices mostly ghatak hoti hain if they do not evolve with time.
