  • In this tutorial I'll show you how to create a simple yet beautiful poppy flower cane. It's a great start for beginners and is really easy to create. It's striking and will work well with Fall projects. We'll do a project on it in a few days.

Thank you, Samantha! This is very helpful and I love the poppy design! I see how these techniques can also be used to then improvise further with other colors, more petals, etc., to make some really great canes in other ways. The step-by-step instruction from you really gets the creative juices flowing!

I have been working on it today but not quiet satisfied of my work because I run short of clay , so i had to do thinner layers and did not look good when I was lengthening my cane. I will try again when my sock of Kato came back from 2wards

I really liked this tutorial but when you decided that the plug was too big and I already had completed it before wrapping it in black I tried to removed the added clay but got worst, so I just continued wrapping the black. I had a difficult reducing but once reduced there was hardly any pomegranate showing. After cutting into 4 when I was pinching the 1st one I again messed that up. The rest of the petals were ok. Final result was ok with one very small petal. I will send you a photo to Patreon. I will try to do the cane again.

I am very new to working with PC. I must be the worst clay worker! I managed to complete the center with very little difficulty, but the rest of the flower was a complete and utter failure. I am going to have to practice this piece for a long time, I think. I may never be able to create it. What a disappointment!

I’m curious about quantities. Premo comes in 2 oz, 8 oz and a pound (US) I have had the most success finding it in 2 0z portions. For cane making how much polymer do you use? I’m a beginner so I’m trying to learn.
