Once you set your wheels and weight it proper, The Super C will really plow well. It did really good as it is. That's also why I say that a 300 will handle a 3 bottom plow.

I grew up on a dairy farm south of Rockfalls, illinois, we had a International gas 400, an M , & a Super C, which my dad bought new in 1954, all great tractors, we used that little SuperC for several things, like pulling in wagons of oats , hat, straw , big Rex chopper wagon full of haylage, & cornlage, i agree with you, these little Super C's are surprisingly powerful & bullet proof, you cant hurt um, that being said these tractors were built in the 50's is another thing that makes them very impressive, my dad is going to be 96 July 23, 2024, my brother took over the farm & farms 4500 acres but he still has that little Super C, you could go out there today and will start right up like always, when i was like 15 yrs old i painted that C with a paint brush using International Red & got all of the original stickers for it, that paint job actually turned out pretty good lol still looks good , you have a good video 👍

That's awesome you were happy with the way it plowed because you seemed a little disappointed with the Cub when you used it . I have been hearing a lot of people starting to plant this week across the country . I was thinking I was going to be able to plow tomorrow but my wet area better dry a lot over night . I got until Friday for it to dry out because it's going to start raining Saturday . Thanks for sharing and have a great evening !

Excellent video Gino :) remember my dad also brother used we plow feilds like butter on toast doing right Lol and remember one year on spring season was wet because rain more sunshine to dry up in 1993 we glad new back tires bought put on 1968 International 624 A 60 hp Desiel , 1978 724 B loader 72 hp Desiel because need Differential lock for back wheels we spinning wheels on mud like crazy also on plowing with 4 plows ! Even when had disking to yes both tractor got tossed around to plus with implements agree 👍 to that ! Was not fun for to and was worse year my dad plus myself seen plus my uncle was old 1950 Gas motor Cockshutt COOP 40 pull on draw a 6 plow board and old Farm Hand tires did job ! International had Good Year Dyna Torque 2 Angle tooth treads of 🔺️ for grip plus McCormick International B414 Loader tractor Desiel motor had Good Year Dyna Torque 2 same tread on back wheels to other 2 tractor and plus 1968 McCormick International 105C combine gas motor to ! Why International got new tires bead blew out them on rims plus lose air like crap plus tread worn down wouldn't and grip no way ! New tires did ! Gino you must remember Good Year talking about did have them ever and plus Farm Hand back year's ago! Only other year was wet in my farm days was 2009 was worse year's of stroms central in Ontario Canada from April when winter over with no way did and I helped friends of family farm we had 6 months of Winter then whole usual 4 only my way ! When had hurricane season we had torando her just as bad ! Was help get crops and got hit with baseball hail on face when put square bales straw bales up on wagons plus wear steal toes boots for grip not joking! Plus rake straw rows on 1945 Farmall H basic gas motor row crop with 4 beater slips and slide on corners too ! But challenging too plus mud ponds in feilds too!

I've said it before and I say it again. Don't ever underestimate the ability of the smaller Farmalls to get the job done. I've been pulling 2 14 inch plows behind my 140 for years and it will pull them all day long in 2nd gear in all but the hardest land. I remember once I was plowing in a field with another fellow on a Ford 2000 with 2 14s and I plowed circles around him literally surprising us both.

I sure miss the Super C I had. Gave it to my brother with a 2 disk turner , 2 point 2 disk turner. At first I used an Allis pull behind turner. It did okay, but the Farmall plow was awesome. Like I could never get over just how little fuel it burned while doing it's work.
Now have a 140 Farmall. I love it , but it doesn't pull a turning plow nearly as well as the Super C.
All my relatives uses M's and H's. They looked down on that Super C. But it was just big enough to do hard work, and nimble enough to work around the sawmill.

I take it you moved the wheel in to put the tire in furrow. Uncle used to put a single strand of wire in the axle groove and turn the wheel so the weight was on that skinny wire instead of on the axle and groove so you could push it in easier. He would do both wheels even though you didn't need to. Guess he didn't want to explain to the people. I did notice steering with the brakes. I found this at BF Goodrich in the late 70's they called it 'Tire Fill'. It was about 20 pounds a gallon and would semi harden to give you a ride like air but as long as the tire carcass stayed together it kept rolling no matter what poked a hole in the tire. It was for equipment in scrap yards. I put new skins on the front and if kept the front end down just enough. Northern Ohio we never saw front wheel weights until the compact tractors from Japan came out. Old timers said the tractors were nothing but cast iron. We only had calcium for tires. Now you have windshield washer fluid or beet juice.

Just brought a Super C and a bunch of implements with it, one of them the same plow as yours! I'm stoked, but I already have done my plowing, so will have to wait til the fall.
Side note: Been playing around with the 2-point fast hitch, wow, I don't have to get off the tractor seat to hook and unhook implements, wonder why the fast hitch didn't become more popular, it's so dang slick.

    • @FarmallFanatic

Nice! Sounds healthy under load. I had a C with the mounted 2 bottom, not the fast hitch model. I moved only one wheel in to match the furrow, and it pulled sideways something fierce. I moved the other wheel in and it plowed like a dream. Have you ever tried planting buckwheat for the deer? Plant in June, harvest in October. It’s a fun crop to watch grow. It also pulls out some of the phosphorus that is tied up in the soil. Then when the roots rot, it comes available through mineralization. Works like a charm and no weeds to worry about. I’ve harvested it and made pancakes.

The mounted plow sure makes the difference on the light weight Super C. The down draft "suck" of the plow equals traction. Put a trail plow behind it and the heavier H would prevail. Should be awesome once you get the wheels set correctly and a bit of weight on it. Plus the Super C should do better on fuel economy.
