Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
First time I had Smelt was a dive bar in Michigan.
Damn why didn't u tell me u were in town 😅 I can't wait for fish opener. Good fishing in the twin ports. Gotta go up to fish lake, or try the brule river. Lots of trout .🤙
Try breading them with crushed Cool Ranch Doritos.......
Love smelt!!! We catch em on jigs ice fishing!
Aw man I LOVE smelts. In honor of you and your channel I’m going to run them as a special where I work. Super tasty and lots of great nutritional value. Rock on! PS- I need to know the song “about the older lady” 😂 Seriously tho. My wife lerves her some country
Does Brody have his own UA-cam channel?
Murda why did you look like you were confused in the into. I still ain’t drowned worms this year but hopefully this weekend I’ll do some pond hopping
Nothing better than fresh smelts
Other than freshly cleaned beaver 😆
🤤
Murda we used to net them where the rivers went into georgan bay back in the day up here in Ontario Canada used to be lots
Nothing better then smelting. Brings me back to my younger years. Grandma in the kitchen cooking pan fulls of them in flour and oil! So crunchy and delicious!
So good
He who Smelt it dealt it..
RandomBrandon69 needs to make a comeback!
Cool video. Smelting is a lost art. Smelt fry are hard to find.
Glad you enjoyed
brody is right flour salt pepper fry
Smelt are a saltwater fish that escaped from a small lake in MI which was close to Lake Michigan around the 1900s I believe. There's a video on here with a old man doing a power point presentation on the history of smelt in the great lakes. It's very interesting, even to someone like me who doesn't fish. I ended up coming across it looking at Lake Michigan shipwreck history and it was a suggested video that I just clicked on. I would highly recommend watching it if you come across it
My dad and uncle used to feed the family doing this in Wisconsin as kids. awesome video.
Very cool!
Back in the day, we left the heads on them. Thanks for stirring up old memories Murf !
Glad you enjoyed it
Smelt aren't minnows. right? Am I crazy?
Many many years ago my father & his parents would fill a 5gallon bucket with smelts and feast on them. My grandfather’s favorite snack was sardines, he ate them everyday. He would eat 2-3 cans while deer hunting.
What about the bones?
Superior to duluth:)
😎
Super cool video.
Teflon pan? 😂 antique cast iron cookware for the win, junior
😂
🍿 and Sprite ready!!!! Love Sundays!!!❤❤
🤜🤛
Great job y'all
Our goof course we want to book a charter this year. We can make a deal so you guys can get on the course anytime for it or something lmk im a manager mechanic at The Wilderness golf course at Fortune Bay
Like number 954. We use to dip net the smelt in Michigan they were so thick. You could fill a 5 gallon bucket in 3 or for dips. We would dip them in beer batter and eat them like French fries. I love them dipped in ketchup or tartar sauce👍🏻💛🙏🏻
Holy!!!
@@FishNMoreYes😂
Really!!!!! 2 times SUPER FISHY to me lemon too.if there decent and Brother Brodi Cleaned em.COOL!!
Nothing better to end the day with fishnmore video
🤜🤛
We were on Park point a week ago brought home 33 gallons of the tasty smelt . Cleaned them all day on Sunday. Ate alot of them too . I save some of the heads I sprinkle garlic salt on them and put in the freezer. They make excellent bait
I used to go smelting back in the 60s when we lived in esko, we would get nets full of them and buckets full, i was only 8 9 or 10 back then and there was a lot more smelt
I made salt and pepper smelt (like the Chinese buffet shrimp) it was so good. Have to give it a try
Love that this is my hometown
Smelting is big here in Vermont too especially through the ice on a jig pole if you know where the schools are you can set up lines with 2 or 3 hooks and jig up multiple at once pretty fun
ngl i love the opening of hearing the music you’re listening too 🙃
Good times! Haven't missed a year in the last 24.. did about 35 gallons in 2 hours 2 guys this year. Nice job! Dont forget to scrape them bloodlines!
Smelts are the best great video
Glad you like them!
Delicious, that's what smelt are..
Yes they are!
I love Lake Superior ❤❤❤
What is up MURDA ! love smelting, haven't done it in a while, tight lines
Hey never heard of this, thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching! It was a good time
Another fine episode! Keep em comin! Gun
Thanks for watching
I read the title and ‘lmfao’d’ and said to myself, why wouldn’t you use the bait to catch the bigger fish. 😂😂. I almost killed myself but everybody does what they do. 😂
Word Murda on a Sunday is the best!! Got my food ready as well Time to relax and enjoy this awesomeness bro!!! 🤘🏿🔥
🙌
Old tradition is ur supposed to bite the head off a smelt for ur first time
Brody dealt it and you smelt it. You should try to catch a fish with a chunk of chicken as bait, test the universal nature of the "tastes like chicken" hypothesis. Excellent video, thanks for sharing.
Haha😂
If you grab the tail after cooking, you can pull the backbone out like a zipper rather than eating it........much tastier.......
Couldn’t even tell it was there!
Whoever smelt it dealt it
Growing up grandpa Jim would make us clean hundreds of these and then have a smelt fry! They were so darn good!
That’s sweet
Growing up we ate deep fried smelt on Christmas Eve. So good.
Bussin!🤤
You are right I used to catch smelts for bait for Laketrout
Good bait!
Smelting is fun and they're so delicious breaded and deep fried!!
🤤
I love your videos bro....Keep it up❤❤❤❤!!!!
this song is about an older lady.............lol
We dip in a large river so while we're dipping I keep some alive and use them for bait even the 7 or 8" ones and they crush on a tight line.
You can't do it that way in Maine, but smelting is huge up here!
love your channel!
in Alaska, we call these
hooligan. we use a 30 foot long pole w/netting, wade into out going or in coming tide. only 20/30 miles outside Anchorage.
good times!
Very cool!
🔥 as always
😄
Very nice your view my friend
Thanks for visiting
Me and a buddy had a blast and caught like 100 a piece in under a hour ice fishing. Surprisingly good eating. I thought it would taste a million time fishier than it did.
Keep the videos coming! I look forward to them. Lol send me a hat or shirt with your logo fishnmor.
Can we organized a kitchen utensils fund raiser for Brody.
That's Batchelor life
Yes, absolutely
Love Smelts
Pulled nets there in 3 foot white caps one time, had to jump at the top of every wave to keep it out of the waders, it was so scary and loud haha
Fish sticks lol
Exactly
When I was a kid, the owner of the camp we went to used to do a smelt fry over the fire on Thursday night. They were so good. Camp was kn parry sound bay off of Georgian Bay. People here catch em on the niagara river. Im scared off of them because of the reports of the chemicals they have in them.
Cajun beer batter is best way I’ve found
W vid as always
Greetings from Redondo Beach 🇺🇸 Nice fishing video. 🌷
Thanks for coming
Just retired, my dad would come home in the 70s with coolers of smelt. Grab the toothbrush for the inside and beer batter for frying
Good idea!
I'm from Michigan but I live in Kentucky now my favorite every time I come back home is to buy a few bags of fresh Alaskan smelt and fry them up
🤤🤤🤤
You guys seems late or early. They are tons on park point when u get there st the right time. Compared to yesrs like 10 years ago to now its amazing to smelt now to than
I remember my grandpa had a bathtub full of these once like 10,000 fish I'm sure
Haha that’s awesome!
Good video
Glad you enjoyed
You can always put a little cayenne in batters if all else fails. Tbh until this video I can't recall hearing about smelt. They really do look like large minnows😅. Tyfs God bless you
Question can you eat the frozen ones from where you buy bait?
Fun times❤️💯🌈🙏🏻🕊
Ol Smelting on park point!!
Good times
A way better recipe for smelt. Put it on a hook and catch a sturgeon.
Great idea😂
I go to school in duluth, you should’ve said hi
Save the smelt heads, fish love them on slip bobbers
I bet!
Good evening prime time content bout to rock the internet keep going be cool 😎
How many people here pronounce it "Shmelt?"
Annual smelt fry Beaver Bay mn coming up soon at the Beaver Bay Green Door a Big Event.
Love watching your videos Murda!!
Can’t wait till I can get out this summer and start fishing. Don’t know if there are Walleyes here in Massachusetts? I’ve watched almost every video you’ve put out and I’m real curious to what they taste like.
My favorite fish to eat from a lake is Bass and from the ocean I love Bluefish my Mom used to make a chowder with my Dad. It’s bomb.
Hope you have a great rest of your day, and hit this like if you’re another girl who loves watching his channel--->
Murrrrr little late to the party!!!!!!! LETS GO!!!!!!!!🎣🍳
Better than never 🤜🤛
You have to try them smoked, eat them like potato chips. So good.
Next time!
Let’s Goo! 🎉🎉
🙌
Cleaning a 5 gal pail of them is a nightmare🤣😬 when it comes to that many it turns into everyone cleaning them🤣
Why did you use air quotes when you said smelting??
No clue😂 making vids is hard
LOL, I grew up smelting under the Hoan Bridge in Milwaukee. You guys did it way different then we used to. There was more drinking involved when we did it! Your way looked like to much work for those little ass things!@@FishNMore
Eating bait, eating minnows, when you said that, made ne laugh.🎣
😂
Back on the grind homie getting back to it waiting for walleye opener.
Same! Can’t wait
Now I'm hungry for a smelt dinner from the Doo Drop in Muskegon MI!! Too bad it's not there any longer LOL
Me and my brother used to go fishing when we were younger and catch glass minnows and stuff in the bait net and try to catch stuff out from under bridges using them if we didn't catch nothing that sucker would bring them home and eat the bait
That’s dope🤟
Smelt used to be popular, I hear their populations are coming back
Back around 1970 my Dad used to bring home trash cans full, it would take the entire family (10 kids) hours to clean them. I loved those smelt. be nice to see harvest like that again.
Good to hear!
I guess they are in the salmon family
“Taste like minnows” 😂😂😂😂😂
❤😂👍 minna..
Yuck.... we use 20ft plus dip nets in Washington state... never would eat them. Use them for sturgeon bait lol. Got my 10lbs in about 5 min this year but they only give us like 6 hrs to do it and its daylight. Wasnt to bad this year other than the run lasted 4 months and we only got 2 days to dip.
Don’t hate em tell you try em!!
@@FishNMore lol not happening
I haven't had deep fried smelt in 50 years.
Not bad!!!!
