I know that this is and old-ass comment, but I hope by now you've discovered Jason's rock band called newsted. If not, you should stop what you're doing and listen to king of the underdogs
It's great to see Metallica now with Robert playing bass, but every once in a while it's reall awesome to watch Jason rocking the bass guitar and singing a menacing backup vox with the boys...
To everyone complaining about Metallica covering punk songs, this is what inspired Cliff. They still play it because its fun and it brings back good memories
12 Year old comment but I also remember Cliff being asked about how Motorhead influenced his style. He pretty basically said all his shit was Motorhead 😳
@@barbaratodd1288I agree.. Lars, James, And Jason, and Cliff all, understandably loved Motörhead.. Slash, Duff, Slayer, Most of Anthrax, etc all loved and revered Lemmy and Motörhead for good reason
Metallica does very very good covers of the Misfits classics, but honestly, James Hetfield's vocals aren't suited to The Misfits and don't do The Misfits classics any justice.
winstonS Its a good cover but pales in comparison to Glenn Danzig singing it. It’s just such a great song it still sounds good even when it’s butchered
Dude they it was Rock . I like the Load Re-Load albums. All their albums are good. After having a bassist die your music might change a little bit of the years bro... At least they're still alive and Rocking and doing what they love and making people happy.
Whatever ppl say, nobody can denie; this band is the best metal band ever. They played trash, heavy, garage, punk, emo, whatever you want. And still they rock. If James ever tried to sound guttural, they would have killed all the death metal scene also. Pay respect to the lords. This band is legendary.
Metallica's punk covers are awesome, I love em. Im glad theyre not closedminded metalheads, they listened to their share of Ramones, DRI, Misfits and Black Flag. Without hardcore punk there would be no thrash after all.
i personally find it pretty cool...i mean im not a die hard metallica fan, but i do like them...but i think its pretty fucken cool that they show their appreciation for what other bands have done by playing their songs live...and while some are better than others, i still think they sound good
Hetfield and Newsted's voices can actually harmonize, unlike Rob's or Kirk's. Jason was definitely the best (living) bassist in Tallica. Rob is a better bass player than Jason, but he doesnt elevate their live performances like Jason did with his amazing stage presence and backing vocals. I mean hear Jason on creeping death, its brilliant.
misfits could kill metallica in a battle of bands, and in a real fight, i only came her to see all the bands that needed the misfits to make good songs.
Don't be mad, I'm a huge Guns and Roses fan, and I understand they needed the misfits to become big also. The media should give more credit to the misfits and play their songs on the radio.
***** your right about the media not having to play a band to validate a band, but it would be nice to listen to the radio and hear good music. The relevance of Guns N Roses the covered "Attitude"
Are you crazy the misfits were big before metallica, and it was danzig going single that made them big, not metallica. And I didn't even know metallica covered the misfits until last year.
Paleeeez!! They were unheard of back then, just grew bigger when Metallica covered them. unfortunately Metallica surpassed them and any other band they did covers of.
I saw this show at Texas Stadium, except James hurt his arm jet skiing on Lake Dallas. The guitar players from the other bands filled in during Metallica's set but it was one train wreck after another. Awesome once in a lifetime thing to see!
When I put myself in their shoes, I can't consider Metallica cry babies. I can only consider them A great part of music history. Get over it, people. They still rock, no matter what we think of them.
Punk and Metal. Never a bad combination.
Always a bad combination.
Grunge
Solo Rock !!!!!
@Umut I was hoping this would be good, but I just don't like metal.
Joshua Stephens That’s what Thrash is
1:50 Jason just nodding his head thinking "no James that's not the right note".
Not the right *lyric*
It cant be denied that Jason is great back up vocalist
and kirk
I know that this is and old-ass comment, but I hope by now you've discovered Jason's rock band called newsted. If not, you should stop what you're doing and listen to king of the underdogs
New bassist SUCKS on backup tone deaf as fuck
Not only good but hes actually harmonizing not just singing octaves or the same notes
Only heavy band that pulls off harmonies!¡
I LOVE Jason Newstead in METTALLICA & WANT HIM BACK IN THE BAND!!!
Man, Jason totally makes Last Caress with his amazing backing vocals.
Sweet VHS stripes though
rth095 its。s o。a t h e t i c
I love Last Caress and So What... And then they played both of them live, just AWESOME!
and this is why i love metallica! they can do every genre, punk, heavy metal, thrash, all what they want. \m/
It's great to see Metallica now with Robert playing bass, but every once in a while it's reall awesome to watch Jason rocking the bass guitar and singing a menacing backup vox with the boys...

metallica killed last caress...just like die die die. They really love the misfits and do their songs justice!
Metallica does very very good covers of the Misfits classics, but honestly, James Hetfield's vocals aren't suited to The Misfits and don't do The Misfits classics any justice.
@winstonS well that's just your opinion, but originals are always better :)
winstonS Its a good cover but pales in comparison to Glenn Danzig singing it. It’s just such a great song it still sounds good even when it’s butchered
very good version of last caress
you can't hate them for paying tribute to their musical forefathers
I know what you all did last summer
The 3 best cover songs in history!
So What, Last Caress, and Die, Die my darling
blitzkrieg ?
I still understand that Metallica wouldn't be around without them. I'm pretty versed in their history. I respect them as artists.
It’s sounded strange to hear James say “punk ass motherfuckas” 😂
james+jason = metal greatness!!! bring 'sted-man back!!!
Por fin se oye el bajo de Jason.
cliff iria amar ter tocado essas musicas ;/
Armando Yodi Tanji principalmente as do Misfits
Concordo
Dude they it was Rock . I like the Load Re-Load albums. All their albums are good. After having a bassist die your music might change a little bit of the years bro... At least they're still alive and Rocking and doing what they love and making people happy.
great live show
love metallica for letting me find the misfits ;)
Those frosted tips tho.
Hey! They were era appropriate! (Unfortunately)
The Everchosen I had them I'll admit. To be fair, they were red and my hair is black. It was the style of the time.
Whatever ppl say, nobody can denie; this band is the best metal band ever.
They played trash, heavy, garage, punk, emo, whatever you want. And still they rock.

This band is legendary.
Best. Best Band.
El sonido del bajo es brutal, ni hablar de sus coros
3 great songs
Awesome
Great videoo!!! THIS IS PUNKTALLICA
Thumbs up if you think that Jason's bass is just AMAZING !
Uno de los mejores casa que lindo!!!
Metallica's punk covers are awesome, I love em. Im glad theyre not closedminded metalheads, they listened to their share of Ramones, DRI, Misfits and Black Flag. Without hardcore punk there would be no thrash after all.
awesome vocales by jason
i personally find it pretty cool...i mean im not a die hard metallica fan, but i do like them...but i think its pretty fucken cool that they show their appreciation for what other bands have done by playing their songs live...and while some are better than others, i still think they sound good
amen to that!
I like the look on Jasons face when James screws up the last line.

Funny...he looks way younger than in 1996.
YES!
totally agree on that!

LARS RULES
misfits could kill metallica in a battle of bands, and in a real fight, i only came her to see all the bands that needed the misfits to make good songs.

***** your right about the media not having to play a band to validate a band, but it would be nice to listen to the radio and hear good music. The relevance of Guns N Roses the covered "Attitude"
without Metallica covering the misfits, they wouldn't be well known, so in essence Metallica did them a favour.
Misfits, Ramones, GBH, English Dogs, Pistols and others had a tone of influence on all these thrash bands.
THANK YOU METALLICA!!!!!
Misfits is better.
Srauls Gaming Channel too slow
Mr. Pickles true the misfits version will always be the best
Mr. Pickles imo too much base and they don't go crazy like the misfits they just stand there playing.
