Holy shit never knew this car existed, it's gorgeous. They kept the design so true to original crown, I was able to realise the resemblance within seconds.
Didn’t realize this was your channel James. Just saw the car and clicked. After about 10 seconds of that smooth Jimports voice washing over me it clicked. Subbed, keep the car vids coming
My family used to own a Toyota Progres, the front looked like if a CTS and a W210 had a good time. That aside, it did have a 2JZ (mated to the slowest shifting automatic) and I recall it's still running to this day. That origin heavily reminds me of it, glad to see people still maintaining these more obscure models Toyota JP had to offer.
I love Toyotas. My Tundra was my first love with cars from Japan…now I drive an Avalon and it is the best car I have ever driven. My boss, has always said that the Japanese know exactly how Americans want their cars to be. I believe him. Toyotas just make sense.
This video was informative, entertaining, unique, and fun. Jimports is a quality UA-cam channel for those who want to have fun learning about automotive excellence! 10/10 would watch again.
Never forget my Dad test driving a '70 Crown here in Kansas City, Kansas. He bought a '71 Corona Mk II and man that thing was a smog-tuned DOG. It held up OK - but the Crown felt like AN ABSOLUTE UNIT. Most solid and tightest car I ever rode in.
Watching TFB mailroom finally paid off, wouldn't known this channel existed if not for episode 63😅. Cool Toyota, worked and run body shops all my life and never heard of it
Guess Ill be the first to say it -- thats a pretty cool looking car. Ive never heard of it before. But I like the retro styling. Reminds me of all the cars Mitsuoka has built. That kind of style is not for everyone, but I like it.
This car looks like an average 1990s Corolla but way more luxurious, has the runner up to the legendary 2JZ GTE engine and rarer than all of the Holy Trinity hypercars combined
How about the Toyota Classic- only 100 sold, just about, and a tribute to the Toyota AA, which itself was designed to appear like the Chrysler Airflow.
It's not for me - looks like Mitsuoka tried to do a Tatra at the back and a Vauxhall Cresta at the front. It's cool that they're out there though. 3 for sale at the moment on carsfromjapan
Meanwhile less than 400 Jaguar X-Type wagons in the US. Oddly enough I remember seeing them fairly often, not so much now. Although given Jags build quality in the X platform probably few are still roadworthy.
Even rarer would be the Toyota AA. Other than modern reproductions, the only known surviving example was a heavily modified and derelict unit from Siberia of all places. Like with the Origin, Toyota went on to produce the Toyota Classic (YN86), which shared underpinnings with the N80 Hilux. The resulting tribute looked more like a hearse tho lmao 💀
Correct me if I’m wrong, but Toyota had made a car with just 100 examples built. I’ll look it up and update this comment if I find it Edit: 1996 Toyota Classic (YN86), with 100 units produced
Great looking vehicle. Typical side profile of the 80s. More English looking, Humber as said by an enthusiast. Could have suited USA very well. Wish they had continued this brand, like Corrolla and Camary.
Hi Jim, you've certainly vibes into this car. However do the low production numbers make it special ? It's rear pillar angled opposite to it's contempories, then the suicide doors. Interior's no big difference again to other top end Toyota contempories. The retro look is reasonble. . . . . .. . .Or am I missing all the cue's of an ultra-exclusive Toyota?
Not as special as it's framed as being. It shares almost everything, other than exterior differences, with the Toyota Progrès. Interior is the same. The Progrès was an exclusive model to the Toyopet dealerships
are you the same guy that does the other car reviews regular car reviews hahahaha i sware your the same guy this is just you being serious and g rated :)
really nice interior, but the exterior leaves a lot to be desired, especially this mustachio-like Grille which looks ridiculous to the Western Eye. But maybe they like it in Japan.
Another tribute car from Toyota l do actually really like it sort starts of at the front retro but gets more modern towards the rear and that interior beautiful Toyota can to luxurious cars so very well infact they would be the best in the world for building ultra luxury cars beat the British and Europeans hands down plus obviously been Toyota they are ultra reliable
You mean 1,073 too many were made? Toyota is the epitome poor engineering (they even find difficult to handle reverse engineering properly), mediocre quality and excellent marketing ability (sell such poor cars at primum prices is something you need to know). In fact, I never had a worse vehicle than they Toyota I had and I have owned many vehicles of various brands.
"They spared no expense..." and they used the archetypical 90s Toyota steering wheel LOL
Holy shit never knew this car existed, it's gorgeous. They kept the design so true to original crown, I was able to realise the resemblance within seconds.
I am delighted that Jimports made this revealing video.
Yeah, never heard of it either! What a weird little project!
legal to import to the US in just a week!
You had me at 2jz. I expect to see one of these making 1000hp on e85 within a few years.
0-60 in smooth af
Toyota's most mysterious car burn down when?
Didn’t realize this was your channel James. Just saw the car and clicked. After about 10 seconds of that smooth Jimports voice washing over me it clicked. Subbed, keep the car vids coming
I think I would cry tears of joy if I saw one irl. Been my dream car for almost a decade now.
My family used to own a Toyota Progres, the front looked like if a CTS and a W210 had a good time. That aside, it did have a 2JZ (mated to the slowest shifting automatic) and I recall it's still running to this day. Honestly the interior gives me Rover 75 vibes lol
I love Toyotas. My Tundra was my first love with cars from Japan…now I drive an Avalon and it is the best car I have ever driven. My boss, has always said that the Japanese know exactly how Americans want their cars to be. I believe him. Toyotas just make sense.
Looks like a Chinese copy of an English black cab described over the phone.
Was it the e190 evo 1 next to it
Might have been a cosworth with fender flares. I'm no Benz expert though.
This video was informative, entertaining, unique, and fun. Jimports is a quality UA-cam channel for those who want to have fun learning about automotive excellence! 10/10 would watch again.
Think this will bump the algos?

Looks like Humber Super Snipe
It looks really good in that last, high angled shot😎👍🏻
Watching TFB mailroom finally paid off, wouldn't known this channel existed if not for episode 63😅. Cool Toyota, worked and run body shops all my life and never heard of it

Im always impressed when I hear about a car I didn't know about. This is one of those!
This looks so good!
The dashboard is straight out of my Toyota Progres.
Everything underneath is a Progrès. It's not that special
Dang. How did I not know about this? Nice. Thx, Jimbo
The styling reminds me of Jaguars of the era, which isn't necessarily super flattering...
That interior is plush AF, I want to smoke a blunt in there!
They should do a Lexus Origin for the LS400, with ‘unalive yourself’ rear doors.
Art... 😂😰It's not ugly... It's a Art of Terribly Horrible Nightmare 😂
Origin next to an Integra Type-R, maybe a MB Evo, and a Supra. What a time to be alive.
Wow, never ever heard of it and it even has a 2JZ.. Amazing
Cute to see the Peugeot 208 parked next to it - The owners sure like unconventional vehicles in their home market.
This car looks like an average 1990s Corolla but way more luxurious, has the runner up to the legendary 2JZ GTE engine and rarer than all of the Holy Trinity hypercars combined
Looks like an old Vauxhall viva mated with a Hillman Minx, I don’t get the excitement.
In Germany called it the Opel Viva
Fact: Vauxhall cars was sold as the Opel Counterparts across Europe
I love the rear 3/4 view.
The rear window looks a bit like the one on Renault Vel Satis or Avantime.
I thought i saw every jdm car, wow never knew this existed
How about the Toyota Classic- only 100 sold, just about, and a tribute to the Toyota AA, which itself was designed to appear like the Chrysler Airflow.
Somebody got a Humber Sceptre mixed up with an old Buick shades of Jensen CV8 also
The Car Care Nut needs to see this.
It's not for me - looks like Mitsuoka tried to do a Tatra at the back and a Vauxhall Cresta at the front. It's cool that they're out there though. 3 for sale at the moment on carsfromjapan
Love this! The interior was very high end, Lexus like for the time. I'd drive this! If it has a performance hybrid drive.
The second was parked between the 90s Supra and a Mercedes 190E 2.3-16.
And my attention would have been riveted onto the Origin, too….
What about the ITR @ 1:40
Imagine the auction car getting bought for the engine, getting buffed to 10k HP on some punk chariot 😂.
Also, it has a Corolla steering wheel
Meanwhile less than 400 Jaguar X-Type wagons in the US. Oddly enough I remember seeing them fairly often, not so much now. Although given Jags build quality in the X platform probably few are still roadworthy.
Beautiful W140
I was about to comment and tell you to look up tfb James and hear your vocal doppelgänger. Funny stuff.
analogue clock on the dash like a chrysler, but it's actually good

Can't all new cars look like this ?
since its got a 2JZ in it I wonder if someone will one day do all the crazy tuner shit we all wanna do to a 2JZ powered car
Doesn't look like crash bumpers to U.S. specification for the early 1990's so import into the U.S. could be difficult without modifications.
Really cool but imagine getting parts for it
Surely the mega cruiser is Toyota's rarest car? 130 sold to the public
2000 was peak Toyota
Correct me if I’m wrong, but Toyota had made a car with just 100 examples built. I’ll look it up and update this comment if I find it
Edit: 1996 Toyota Classic (YN86), with 100 units produced

A fraternal twin to the Progres?
Toyota took one look at Ferrari and adopted the best parts about them, discarding the toxic behavior to modifications.
Center-opening doors, not SUICIDE DOORS! Where are the sophisticated copy writers?
1:44 OH MY GOD ITS A BRICK TO THE RIGHT I NEED IT
I think the Toyota Classic is even rarer. Only 100 were produced in 1996.

Gosh that’s beautiful
this has to be a re-skin of.... holy crap it's an orignal unibody!
I have rode in Toyota Crowns.
I miss when cars had souls

Beautiful car
Cute car.
are you the same guy that does the other car reviews regular car reviews hahahaha i sware your the same guy this is just you being serious and g rated :)
Looks like a Buick.
Progress looking thing
NICE!!
Is Peugeot popular in Japan?
Oh yes I remember this one... were out round 2000... i didnt like the nothing special dash
really nice interior, but the exterior leaves a lot to be desired, especially this mustachio-like Grille which looks ridiculous to the Western Eye. But maybe they like it in Japan.
Basically a baby century
Nice
Pull up your pants,,,,
It's only a car, Henry ! 🌭🦴👀🤪
I love suicide doors, I wish there were more vehicles with them.
Arrrgh. That background noise ruins the whole thing!
Your thumbnail should be wearing a pair of tight shorts
Wtf, I got unsubscribed? What's going on UA-cam?
Same
Me too
Holy shit I was gonna say why tf do you sound identical to James Reeves. Never knew you were into to jdm cars

Its just toyota progres with different style
And style is better.
This is hands down one of the ugliest cars ive ever seen
Neat
1:38 is that a ding in the chrome bumber? OUCH
❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Holy moly wat an ugly thing on wheels.
Rear wheel drive is disastrous and not very advanced or groundbreaking.
Does it belong to Putin?
Yes😅
That car made Rolls Royce Jealous
Terrible design 😬😬😬😬

Sorry James but that is a ugly car. Up there with the Pontiac Aztec.
Noobie following media...
Repeat yourself much ... without the outro & the repetitions, you could have done this video in 1m36s =)
Annoying constant music junk channel
