@@dtllcmotorsportwa I think you are correct. Tapping into the output of the sensors wich could be analog or digital. Define the ranges and then program the control to happen at different variations. The If/then scenario is all it would need. I built a autopilot for my RC airplane doing just that.

The Hillers were wild as the pilot added a weight bar adjustment to the fuselage near the tail rotor according to our passenger weights. We were surveying for timber cutting along the US/CDN border with Columbia Helicopter Logging. That dude put his skids on logs on the side of a mountain LZ and kept it there while we unloaded all our gear which was strapped to baskets out side the cabin. So exciting man!!

I'm thinking that to make that much noise you have to burn a whole bunch of fuel. The range on this thing must be abysmal. Can it stay up for long enough to recharge the battery after a start or is it limited to half a dozen laps around the cornfield? I mean it's cool as hell but to be practicable you need at least an hour of range like the 1909 Wright military flyer. Also I guess you'd have to land where there's food because you ain't bringing any with you.

It is military grade so very reliable and once at 100% engine rpm it keeps it there no matter what collective input you give to it. You just have to watch the EGT (Exhause Gaz Temperature) not over reaching 1000°F.

The instructor over complicated the start up process. It’s really easy, just start the fuel pump, hit the starter up to 25%, hit the igniter, roll throttle up to 50%, release starter, roll throttle up to 75%, turn off igniter, roll throttle to 100%. Whole process takes 60 seconds

@@ExperimentalAircraftChannel No worries. Makes sense. Not sure on the actual legalities of flying an aircraft around with no visible N number and showing it on video. I know it seems harmless enough but you just never know with the Feds. Cool video btw.

I forget off the top of my head how much the rotor weighs (We are doing a segment VERY soon on their rotors as they now make them "in house." Bet there is a bit of weight in mass rotation both above and on the tail (as he explains in the video) which gives them a big "flywheel" effect. And they have a very efficient rotor (I am told) that also helps. Thank You for chatting here! Love the engagement!

Why doesn’t he fly much at much altitude? Not confident enough? Also that start process seems very prone to error, like all you need to do to over temp the engine is give it to much throttle (hence fuel) during startup. Im surprised it’s not computerised, even in an experimental craft.
