Still, in no instances removing Denuvo made the game worse by any margin, apart from one, which was only a maximum frametime spike on a single game that did not have a benchmarking tool meaning minimum / maximum frametimes couldn't be measured consistently, but average frametime could, and in that regard, the no Denuvo build won.

      because of the life they might have had, they could have been installed into a server day one and spent the last 10 years running, could be 80k+ hours on the chip and near the end of its life, so even though performance wise they are a great deal you have to be aware you will probably be the last owner of the chip, though at $10 cost you cant complain having to replace it once a year if they do burn out or stop being able to run games.

      I'd recommend a 120.00 usd motherboard. I'd also recommend an X5650 at least with a 5.0ghz overclock. Unfortunately with these 1366 motherboards, you pay for what you get. An OEM mobo just isn't worth it considering you get 9600k or 9700k performance from the X series 1366 Xeons with an overclock.
      Also you need a minimum of 16gb of ram. For some reason the ddr3 ram on current titles need more gb to keep up with ddr4, at least with game performance. 16gb 1866 or 1600mhz ddr3 ram is equivalent to 8gb of 2133mhz ddr4.

    I have a HP Z600. Modified the PSU (read opened and soldered) to have an extra 6 pin. Even with a larger PSU the Z600 still only comes with a single 6 pin.
    For the CPUs I grabbed two X5670 because I wanted the extra core speed, esp when under single threads the Turbo refuses to kick in.
    For the GPU I have a 980.
    It's shocking how well it holds up for gaming and while not power efficient these days it's still good for content creation thanks to 12 cores 24 thread.
    Oh and RAM, 24 gigs came in the box.
    I got the workstation a while ago and it's still going strong.
    If you want to have a look for your channel I'm sure that can be arranged.

    My previous PC is an X58 system running an i7-930. It's now serving as my NAS/HTPC in my living room but i can't see myself running it 24/7. With a 6 core xeon running at lower clocks and voltage, i could see myself doing it.
    Problem with X58 is that it's so old, your PCI Express slot is running at PCIe 2.0 speeds, so newer GPUS will are definitely not getting its full usage.
    It also doesn't have USB 3.0 support, so you'll need an extra PCIe internal card for that.
    And lastly, as RGHD said, he was using 8gb of RAM but the X58 platform uses TRIPLE CHANNEL memory, which is not normally acheivable to get 8gb of ram normally. You'd want 3x4gb of ram for a total of 12gb or 3x8gb for 24gb.
    To get 8gb of ram means you'd either put in 2x4gb sticks intead of 3 (which will affect performance, especially 1% and 0.1%) or 4gb+2gb+2gb, which is not ideal either.

That thing can handle everything I throw at it, multiple minecraft server instances, alngside with a TS3 server, Killing Floor server, Space Engineers server, Linux VM... and still has enough grunt to spare to be used as a remote workstation with Visual Studio. The Motherboard was the trickier thing, but i got it for free from a friend (Asus Rampage II Extreme, REALLY good board). as an owner of a gaming 1366 platform I had a chance to upgrade by buying a darn cheap X5660 clocked for 2.8GHz for 11,48$ from aliexpress. It overclocks like mad, I recommend everyone to upgrade their i7 920s as it is the cheapest way possible to eliminate most of the stuttering in CPU demanding sections (for instance, I can now have a stabile 60fps experience in Forza Horizon 4 whereas at the beginning of the race I had drops to low 50s with multiple AI cars on screen) and its power demand is even lower than the 920. I will test it and try to hit at least stable 4GHz or even more.
    Also, E5645 has a significant disadvantage of a really low multiplier which can seriously limit your potential, so it's much better to find at least X5650.

    That CPU does limit the 1650 Super, just not a lot.
    Look at the very first benchmark, AC Odyssey. When the camera goes outside, the CPU usage spikes up to 90%, while the GPU usage, drops from 94-95 down to 75%. When you see that, its a clear indication that the slowdown is coming from the CPU, so the GPU can actually do better, but the CPU is slowing it down a bit.
    When the camera continues to move, the CPU is less loaded, so the GPU goes back up to high 90's and the framerate increases to reflect that.
    So in those few seconds at 3:00, we see:
    CPU: 58% -> 90% -> 69%
    GPU: 94% -> 75% -> 92%
    FPS: 37 -> 25 -> 33
    Its clear that a CPU upgrade would help the 1650 Super a bit, especially for those 1% and 0.1% lows.
    Its just that this Xeon does not consistently limit the 1650, its those moments when lots of stuff has to be loaded and the CPU is hit with lots of little tasks to do, in a short period of time, that it struggles.
    Thats when actually fast cores make a real difference for this gfx card.

It might seem strange to focus on a particular x86 instruction set, but, like SSE2 before it, AVX is used as the 'secret sauce' in a lot of programs to increase performance. Intel and AMD didn't support the first version of AVX until their 2011 product releases.

    The PSU is actually a very good, safe and reliable unit. This system is a lot better for 1440p than 1080p. at 1080p you will get CPU bottleneck so you are actually better off buying a stronger GPU for 1440p. Also make sure you have your RAM in triple channel, actually makes a 10-15 percent difference. I think it's a cool system for less than the price of a ryzen 5 1600 cpu total for everything beside my 2060. Still use a gigabyte ex58-udr3 with x5670, 12GB ram and a rx 480 8GB. Its over clocked to 4.2Ghz all core(24 multi) and hits 4.375Ghz single core(25 multi) with boost and all c states enabled. Still deserves a bit of respect

    I've got a W3680 on my Z400 clocked at 4GHz. It's not as good as a X5675 at higher clock but you don't need a fancy cooler, you can just use what you are using.
    If someone gets a Z400 for his main PC, then it's worth it, but if it's just for a secondary gaming pc or server, then any 6/12 will do the job.
