This is actually my favorite of the series. Great soundtrack, hilarious & I love the dynamic of Foley, Taggart & Rosewood all working together. Eddie Murphy's quick wits & lines were dialed up. It's a fun, feel-good movie to me.
It definitely has its good bits. The first one is grittier and more realistic. The whole nonsense with the coded Alpha bet crimes which he solves on his own in his head and the wanker Police Chief who just hates everyone and makes an arse out of himself the whole time isn’t really necessary. They could have just had an ongoing thing about him Dogging Inspector Todd back in Detroit if they felt a need to have someone break balls as a side story
the "pool party" scene where Taggart slipped and fell in was the funniest scene in an already excellent movie. and funny enough, it was rumored that Taggart was originally supposed to have been pushed into the pool (most likely by Rosewood), but when he simply slipped and fell in, Tony Scott and the other crew member lost it with laughter and kept it in the movie.
My Mom is in this movie! She's at the Mansion when Axel yells "Max kills cops for a living" to everyone. She and her friend Sandy look up from their tables and get focused on for just a second but I've always enjoyed showing my friends :)
@@jediknightjairinaiki560 She was a model first and became friends with some people in the industry. My dad was a stunt man but not a very good person sadly. My mom is great though!
Beverly Hills Cop is in my top five list of of movie franchises I have seen BHC2 a million times and without looking at the movie or pulling up the scene right now I know exactly which two women you are talkin about
My cousin was having a movie & pizza night and picked up 'Maximum Overdrive' to watch. We weren't ten minutes in, and we kids HATED it! She wanted us to finish watching, but we made a huge stink and I offered to drive the 20 minutes to town and get something else. The girl at the Blockbuster had never had a movie return so quickly, so, to keep from having to refund the money, she let me have 'BHC2'. I took it back home, popped it in, and ALL of us were head over heels for Axel and the gang. I must have watched this movie dozens of times and it never gets old. 10/10
How the Hell does one hate Maximum Overdrive?! I mean, Beverly Hills Cop 1-2 were leagues better, but still. It's freaking Tremors with way more blood and cheese. It's like saying Critters sucks...and that's just awful. ;) Addendum- How the hell did the army truck with the M60 gun people down? The M60 cannot be operated without a person swiveling and firing it. In reality it would be bouncing all over the place as it wasn't locked down or being held. Oh, and what's up with the kid spraying the drive thru speaker? He shoots it and is like "I got my revenge!" what?!
Dude, I'm with you. This movie rules. Tony Scott rules. Your Sylvester Stallone impression made me laugh harder than I have in a long time. Keep up the good work Minty! You also rule!
62-year old living in the States. I've been a subscriber for a while and really like your videos. I had to comment because I like Beverly Hills Cop II the best, also. And I know exactly why. In the first one, they had to establish the dynamic between the 3 characters, the camaraderie. In the 2nd, they are old friends who trust each other, care about each other and work (sort of) 😁together. You see the chemistry in the 2nd movie that you couldn't possibly see in the first because they start out as working against each other. It's just a really good movie.
I think when people think about BHC after having not seen it in awhile, 1 and 2 really blend together. When you go back and watch, Axel, Rosewood and Taggart are just getting to know each other. In fact they don't like/trust each other for most of the first film and the comedy/drama is in them slowly realizing Axel isn't just a dumb conspiracy theorist, he really does have the goods on a bad guy and they need to help him solve the case. By 2, they're old friends and that's when the real character development comes. Taggart's marital problems. Rosewood turning into Rambo. It's almost like 1 and 2 are one long movie together.
@@BookshelfQBattler I guess that first time Axel in Beverly Hills kinda stuck out like a sure thumb. He the black cop from rough Detroit on a mission in a posh area of LA. And BH police dpt kinda mirrors its city.

Nice one, Minty. I remember the original run of this movie was HUGE! In my neighborhood it stayed on the theater's marquee for over a year! Unheard of at the time when most films spent three months at most.... *#11* ~ Nielson was married to Sylvester Stallone at the time. She was offered the part in Beverly Hills Cop 2. But was very reluctant to take it. It was Stallone who convinced her to take the part. Saying the film was going to be huge, and would give her massive positive exposure in Hollywood. He was right.
Crazy! I remember those indie theatres in the 80's where big budget films stayed running for damn near a year. I must have seen Aliens close to a dozen times.
"6 foot women grow on trees here Axel!" 😆 The 80's had some of the best movies and this is one of them. Thank God i grew up in such a awesome era, no regrets!
I've run into over the years as well, at the annual T*A*P*S fundraiser in Denver, CO. It's been a few years since I've seen him. I got his autograph for his appearance on J*A*G. He relayed a story about the gift he was given. He's a really nice guy.
The soundtrack gave Bob Seeger his first #1 song August 1st, introduced the world to George Michael as a solo artist with I Want Your Sex before the album Faith was released later in the Fall and sadly, Glenn Fry passed away in 2016. RIP George and Glenn. 🙏🙏
I'm with ya Minty on enjoying the second one a lil more than the first. Yes, the first is great. But I find myself watching & enjoying the second one more often than the other ones.
I can't tell you how much joy it brought to my heart to hear you say that you liked this movie even more than the original. I've seen both movies multiple times but I always have a lot more fun with BCH2 than the first one. It's like you said, they took what worked in the first and polished and perfected it. One of the facets of the movie I truly adore and found to be the most clever was the gag where Axel uses some type of prop to get money but then find a way to seed it back in a positive way. Paying back Rosewood for using his bag of vitamins, the left over $100 bill to pay Chris Rock to park the cement truck and Gottfried's character's $200 that he donated to the mayor. Even more clever was how the amount increased along the way. I can't help but think that the final amount of $320 wasn't by accident and has some type of meaning to the director, producers or one of the writers. Maybe it was Eddie. Maybe $320 was all he had left in his bank account just before he got started on SNL. Regardless of whether someone thinks the original is better or the sequel I think we can all agree that the third movie is shit.
Growing up this was my favourite BHC, as I’ve grown old I appreciate the original more and more but see them as both just as enjoyable to watch as each is the same but different, I know that’s a contradiction but they do both feel unique but cut from the same cloth. Great episode Minty!
I always see them both as one story as apposed to separate because regardless of all the badassery the evolution of friendship between the characters is brilliant story telling.
I'd assume their friendship further developed "off-screen" after the events of the first move (the fishing trip, the picture of the four of them together in Axel's desk back in Detroit).
BHC2 is my introduction to the series and its more of an action packed thrill ride, one of my all time favorites. I had the VHS tape of BHC2, including the Big Top Pee Wee teaser 😂. Can't wait for BHC4

You mentioned Midnight Run and Ashton was in that as the rival bounty hunter trying to scoop DeNiro's contract. Juergen Prochnow had gotten on the map from Das Boot and Dune. Ronny Cox was in a lot of stuff at that time, usually playing villains. Brigitte Nielsen was at or near her height, almost as high as those legs of hers ;-)

Great video as always, Minty. I may not always agree with you, which is most of the time RARE!!! I agree on this one wholeheartedly!!! I LOOOOVE 2 and sometimes a little more than 1. Hey Minty!…I agree….BHC 2 is brighter and more energetic than the first one which is by comparison a bit darker and grittier somehow. Now part 3 is a different story…gosh…
When it came out i liked it more than the first one because it was beautiful... i mean the cinematography was pure tony scott.. and i really love the look of his movies ie Domino
I am inclined to agree with you preferring this film to the original, Minty. Not that I'm saying the first film was bad or in any way inferior to the sequel, just that I liked this one slightly more. I always thought that Rosewood was such a sweet character. His gentle nature was a nice contrast to all of the chest-beating going on. I love your videos and watch each new episode as soon as it's released. It's 6am here in the UK and I've just eaten my breakfast whilst watching this one. I agree with Minty I luuuuuved B.H.C. 3 I was 10yrs old when it came out & luved it just like the 1st one,now the 3rd one 😖😖😖
I'm with you minty! This is my favourite of all the movies 🎬
Very interesting well done. I like this movie. Some of the movies you mentioned in here you should do. Days of thunder. The hunger . Midnight run . Presidio
I remember liking part 2 more than the first. Both are on my favorites list. 3 however….
Keep the good work coming, mate.
Hey Minty!…I agree….BHC 2 is brighter and more energetic than the first one which is by comparison a bit darker and grittier somehow. Now part 3 is a different story…gosh…
Your Stallone impression was hilarious and suitably authentic
They've become a regular fixture in my home and I wouldn't want to not have them, so please keep making them and thank you.
