"Gina The Synth Cat" is out now!

#80smusic #synthesizer #recreation
I played drums in a 80’s cover band several years back. Our keyboardist had the OB8 and we performed 1984, Jump, Tom Sawyer among others. I found a whole level of respect for these machines, their caretakers and inventors. It really made our show authentic. Thank you for what you do. These babies are time capsules and hopefully their truth will shine on to the younger generations to realize it’s not about zeros and ones. Every time I hear 1984 I feel OUR creator.
The OB-Xa was Eddie’s favourite keyboard back in the day, so consider your taste in keyboards validated. ;)
The old OB series had what I consider to be the fullest, deepest and beefiest sounds of any synth, even to this day.
I remember as a tween of the 80's, all the "olde brigade" tearing down the music of the time. "Oh synthesisers were the end of musicians." Obviously it didn't. I did not understand music as I do now. I would given them a mouthful. Respect to you & fellow performers. No matter how music evolves it will still be an art. Sad part is art revenue will be firmly in the hands of record/song sales as within the decade. I'm certain that AI is going to play a more leading role in music of that zeitgeist. Children born now will have a far different future than us.
That room is filled with treasures AND all in working condition. Really a fortune. Apart from that, the fact that you know how to use them and use their potential is priceless!
Hoping that studio is secure, fire-proofed and insured for $millions 😉
That bass line in Into the Grove...🔥
Yep. That cover was particularly amazing
Yes!
That Moog is amazing for basslines.
@@MrCrrispy love that Moog!
@@Twobarpsi What model is that?
Class of '86 now retired drummer. This is music to my ears!! Incredible decade for creativity.
It was the last great cannon in music, subsequent decades have not surpassed it yet - thats why we hear 80s music and riffs off it everywhere still.
Yes⚡️👍🏼
Nothing beats songs being played on the instruments of the era! 🙂
You are phenomenal, I wish I could play like you. Have thought for years about learning to play the piano so I could get a keyboard and start learning to play all the songs I love from the 80's, to which as far as i'm concerned was the best era for music. Watching your video's gave me the inspiration to go for it and have since started lessons. Thank you Luke for being the inspiration to get me started on my journey.
Amazing recreations, you make it look so easy, but I wish I had 10% of your talent. It shows how talented the original writers were to come up with those melodies and all the tunes within the tunes
The 80s were a golden era of musicianship and embracing new technology!
All were brilliant. But 1984 on the OB-8 made tears come from my eyes ❤️
This is when music was actually music and not the crap they have today. 🤓👍
It's crazy how music is able to conserve memories of lighthearted childhood. Yes there was Chernobyl, the cold war and many other things but listening to 'Into the Groove' for example, brings me back to a wonderful vacation with my parents in Italy.Lot of fun at the beach and playing video games at the Arcades.
Thank you for bringing back those memories. Your skills are amazing.
I love the 'graphic' design of Oberheim. The blue lines are so nice to look at. It's my favourite (beside the Emulator II)
80s WERE THE BEST 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
BTW your videos doing early Madonna songs has actually given me a new appreciation for the composition of those backing tracks.
There were top tier studio pros playing on Madonna's 80s stuff. Bass player Guy Pratt said on his YT channel that Madonna was actively trying to stop them from putting jazz licks in her songs, but missed the Weather Report groove he played on "Like A Prayer". Heh.
That bass line !
@@ischmidt Great story! Legend has it that guitar great Dann Huff heard "Like a Prayer" and loved the funky guitar in the chorus, totally forgetting that it was him playing on that session. Don't know if it's true or not, but it's conceivable since the in-demand players were constantly going from session to session in those days.
@@toddtyler I can believe that. Studio guitarist Tim Pierce has said on his channel that there were days where he'd play on 5 different sessions at different studios all over LA. Every time he got home the phone would ring again. The 80s were nuts.
Same! And I'm a metal guitarist!
I was 16 in 1984 so have loved this series!
"Do you wanna funk" was just perfect.
That bass sound you made for The System "You're In My System".... Superb!
I must say i have a much bigger respect for Roland now as a company knowing all of the incredible pieces of tech they've made.
The Madonna one was ON POINT. Love the production from that stuff.
I recognized MOST of these songs... sure brought back some great memories. Hope you'll publish longer versions of these songs. The instrumental versions would be awesome to listen or even sing to.
i agree that he must publish longer versions of these songs!!!
You know, it’s these 80’s synth tunes that stick in your head the rest of the day. Also - Go West! We Close Our Eyes came on the other day and I thought it would be great to hear your interpretation of that one.
That multimoog is something else ❤❤
crazy I still dang near have all these from the series on vinyl.
Just had a blast dancing on my chair like a lunatic and I don't care. I'm so glad I was young at that time. 💙
Love these jams!
For laughs, turn on captions. I just see [foreign music] for some reason. The past truly it another country.
Wow....brilliant 80s pop tunes. So many memories growing up in that era. Best times. Excellent playing. Perfection. 👌👍🎹❤
I dont even know how to play and this video makes me want a keyboard.
1000 gracias por hacernos escuchar estás tremenda máquinas para nosotros ni siquiera llegaron a nuestro país muy poco y nada Y la verdad Qué es un deleite escuchar estos sintetizadores Gracias desde las Pampas
Legit!!!
Love the classic synths!!
Thanks for making this video, it was awesome 😃
This reminds me so much of the time, as a teenager, I went into the hangar of my friend's dad, who worked in the sound and light business. I played through some settings on a keyboard that was just out, and I found the exact sound they used on a Madonna song from her album Hard Candy. I was so shocked and hyped.
That must be such a thrill to go through all the settings of your collection to find the exact sound.
Controversy patches were spot on... You dug deep with The System. Nice Job
SUPER GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!! Synthy Groove of the 80' This is the Music of my Teenager !!! Thank You . Wolfgang from Germany .
Van Halen's 1984 is one of my favorite synth riffs, i was so surprised and pleased to hear it, you won my subscription
I had never even heard of the CS40m before today!
Thank for another wonderful journey back to the 80s! These videos are a portal back to a comparatively care-free time for me (as I was a child!)
The system👍👍, extra👍
Van Halen and Ozzy, i didn't want you to stop! Threw me back!
This collection of synths is worth more than the queens crown jewels. Watching in awe at this collection and the virtuosity of mr million. Wow
Great funky synth's era 👍👍
When he played Do Ya Wonna Funk With Me took me to the scene on the movie Trading Places when Eddie Murphy played as Valentine and he invited his freeloading friends over for a party and this song was playing.Great memorie lane.
Thank U, Thank You, Thank YOU for including "CONTROVERSY"!!!! 🙂
I really enjoy these videos. 80s music was the best.
OMG, The System too?! Nice...
Super 👍👍👍 super ❤❤❤
That was so awesome Luke, really liked the Madonna bass chops there. Mr Crowley was an inspired choice, I know it backwards - brought a tear to my eye as we just buried my friend yesterday who was an Ozzy fan, he used to get me to play it on my synths.
Keep sharing these videos, awesome!
Was watching the older videos when this just hit! 👏👏👏
Good job! Congratulations!!! The 80's.... Nostalgia😢
Sir, you’re a genius.
Belles Prestations je dirais même plus superbes prrestations....Thank You...
More Madonna please! Her stuff was very well produced. La Isla Bonita, Cherish.. Borderline..
Every time the vocals kick in........
1984 beautiful, great recreations! 💕

Complimenti 🙏🙏 hai i più belli synt della storia, per me è un piacere sentirti 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Si! Molto!
Do you wanna funk ❤
Man that CS40 sounds amazing. I love it.
Was about the write the same, wasn‘t quite sure about the model (CS50?) though.
I was not expecting Mr. Crowley👍
The execution of analog and digital synthesizers, there you can even see manufacturing in the 70's, avant-garde of famous bands of the 80's, had in their musical and instrumental framework and that made a legend in music even in these last times, and the spectacular synthesized voice, very good and magical for such skilled hands, congratulations.
Was waiting for Flight of the Conchords, Inner City Pressure. Then I forgot it's a brilliant parody.
mr. Crowley!!!!! AWSOME!
Bizarre Love Triangle next please!
Great was expecting a quick reach to the random LFO on filter at end of 1984
Greatness again! 👍🙏☮
1:46 Controversy 4:44 Into the Groove 8:57 VH 1984
Awesome. It's the way you show a peek at how the songs are constructed/layered that makes me even more in awe of these tracks.
Cara, você é um gênio! Viajo nesses timbres! Parabéns!
Billy Oceans spot on.Great job on this recreation.
Well done 👍
I love the multimoog !
Gawddam, the "Controversy" recreation is PERFECTION!
The System….love that song!!!!
The Jewel of the Nile!
I preferred Robert Palmers cover version of you are in my system 😊 But you did nail the Systems version 👍
Sylvester for the win...
Love this ‘80s’ montage
The system. Genius.
Brilliant! Thanks for sharing
God damn dude, just randomly discovered your channel. You gove me feelings I haven't had in a long time. Keep it up!

@@lukemillionmusic How long does it typically take to recreate the sounds of these songs?
I love your videos!!! It's so great seeing all that analog gear in action.
amazing!
Love your work, superb skills
That’s like well over $100k of musical instruments there … sounds so good!
These videos are just brilliant!
Sylvester!! Wow, nice work!

Bro you killed it!!! Nailed them all!!!! Fantastic job!!
