Overkill and The Game, a song that Lemmy wrote for Triple H's entrance song in WWE, are two more great Motorhead songs. You guys have got to check out live performance videos of these guys. 👍🤘✌️

@@maccrazy7335 That is so cool man. I FINALLY got to see them thank God in 2008, before Lemmy became ill. Metal Masters tour, outdoors, Jones Beach NY. They opened for the freshly re-united ‘Heaven and Hell’ with a still healthy Dio, and Judas Priest still with Kk and Glen. Don’t remember how, but I scored 9th row seats, right side of the stage, in front of Lemmy AND Iommi..!!! I’d seen Priest (love em) seen Sabbath (same), but Sabbath with DIO, Motörhead!?!? This was bucket list shit, God just let me see the show,,THEN kill me, I’ll die happy. Back to what you said; Lemmy struts onstage, long, tall, ugly and confident as shit. Quick to the mic “We are MOTOR HEAD! And we play Rock and Roll...” Explodes BAM! Into ‘Dr. Rock’. Fast hard and loud. Few songs in, “Philthy” Phil, real calm and cool.., “Is is too loud for ya down in front here? Good, ‘cause it’s gonna keep gettin’ louder.” End of show; now the place is going nuts.., Lemmy, this time he shouts it out real LOUD and angry.., “We.., are Motörhead! And we play fuckin’ Rock ‘n’ Roll!!!” EXPLODES into Overkill. The song never really ‘ended’..., it was all just so much noise. When Lemmy had enough..., he walked to his massive bass amp rig stacked up behind him. Like a sadist he turns up the level knobs on all the amps, turns up the levels on his customized monster Ricky bass, unstraps tge guitar and leans it up against the amp. The feedback squeal was deafening and obnoxious. You look around realizing that you can’t even hear the crowd still roaring, due to the insane volume level of Lemmy’s bass amp cooking, screaming for it’s life. No blowing kisses to the audience, the band just walked off. I turned my head and missed it. The amp squeals and screams for another minute or so till a roadie finally comes out on stage, cuts the power to the tortured amplifier and retrieve’s Lemmy’s bass. Now the crowd’s sorta quiet and hushed. Everyone’s looking around dealing with that isolated feeling that comes with temporary loss of hearing. That ‘did you just see that?’ look after witnessing something great and terrible. I’ve been to 100’s of rock concerts starting in the early 80’s, this one is a top 3. I knew that I was witnessing greatness. And I was finally old enough to know that nothing lasts forever. I was right, both Lemmy and Dio are gone now, sad. GREAT memories though.
Lemmy Kilmister was way ahead of his time and he, "Philthy" Phil Taylor, and "Fast" Eddie Clarke set the stage for many great metal bands to follow in the footsteps of Motorhead. R.I.P. to all three. 💯🔥🤘✌️
Lemmy Kilmeister is a great bassist and singer. Came from an early band called Hawkwind that played some really spacey music. Try Silver Machine by them...
I had the pleasure of seeing Motörhead 5 times in Norwich, UK. My ears are still bleeding a decade later, my heart still aches over Lemmy's death. No Motörhead = no Metallica! Lars followed Motörhead all over the place! 🤘🤘🤘
Loud, fast and uncompromising - that was Motorhead. Over the years I saw them open for Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Slayer, Metallica, Guns 'N Roses, Testament and Ozzy Osbourne. RIP Lemmy, a true original icon.
A little anecdote from Lemmy: He once invited some friends to his house. He leaves for a moment and comes back with a bottle of whiskey and hands it to one of them. This friend thought it was to share with others. And Lemmy stops him and says: This is just for you. Now I bring more bottles for each of the others. Rest in peace, Lemmy.

It was great seeing your unfiltered emotion and joy. Brought me back to the times I was hearing Motorhead for the first time, spent the next few years listening to 70% of their huge music catalog non-stop, back to back for hours. You said it made you feel happy, and I realize almost every comment is a suggestion to listen to something and this will likely get lost in the shuffle - but if you get a chance to check out "Motorhead - Back at the Funny Farm", this might give you the time of your life. Music is all I care for, I listen to all kinds and a lot, from harsh noise to Miles Davis to Lana Del Rey to Discharge, but "Back at the Funny Farm" is a uniquely elevating experience, even almost 20 years after I first heard it.
I call this song "Motorhead Training Wheels". It's their "Enter Sandman", in that its popular but overplayed. If you wanna delve deeper try: "Orgazmatron", "1916", "Back at the Funny Farm", "Overkill", "Overnight Sensation", "I Am the Sword", or "Keys to the Kingdom".
Motorhead is the band that was huge influence to many thrash metal bands like Metallica, Slayer, and many more. Good choice to start to get into Motorhead.
Glad you did Motorhead. First saw them here in Leicester in '79 on the 'Bomber' tour. They blew the roof off. After that I followed them around during the original line up. Seen them just under 20 times in all and still have my hearing. Damn they were loud. Sadly, Lemmy no longer with us but have great memories. I'm glad I got to see them on their last tour here. Great reaction guys. Love this one. james:)
Great reaction to one of the most iconic Rock/Metal songs. While he always looked a bit mean, he was one of the nicest persons you can imagine. Motörhead wrote so many great songs, with intelligent lyricy, and they did not fade with the time, actually in their newer albums there are many of my favourites. I would recommend following songs: - "In the name of tragedy": a very heavy song from 2004 - "I ain´t no nice guy after all": a very nice ballad, sung together with Ozzy Osbourne - "Orgasmatron": a slow, brute song with great lyrics - "Whiplash": a cover from the Metallica song. And if Motörhead covers a song, it is not only a cover, they usually make it even better
"We are Motörhead.... we play rock'n roll!" .That's how they always start their gigs. Next -> "Metropolis (Live in England 1981)". One great song is dedicated to their roadies : "We Are The Road Crew".
I'm sure you'll get lots of Motorhead suggestions so I'm going to go a slightly different route. The guitar player here is Fast Eddie Clarke who would go on to play in a band called Fastway. Yeah Lemmy 😂. For me "Overkill is the best. Great reaction. Still hoping you will give EPICA a 2nd chance with "Rivers" for ex. "Consign.. " was like listening to Metallica with St. Anger for the 1st time 😂. You will love it. Promised.
Motorhead usually only got played on college stations back in the day, so that might be why you don't know 'em unless you were tuning in to those stations. And they got played on both metal and hardcore punk shows.
*Guys here is the skinny on this* Having lived thru that time and as I told Ethan in a prior comment, being a touring musician at the time, here is the significance of this aside from it being a Banger.!!! 1) I can tell you from personal experience that at this is a stone cold fact, *Punk and Rock Fans DID NOT MIX* !!!!! *But* ......... Motorhead was ALMOST the one exception.! Think walking into a punk show wearing a Motorhead T-Shirt and NOT getting your butt beat.! 2) Motorhead got their name because they were speed freaks, as in Meth, sorry to say but true.! Motorhead was a slang used for Meth heads back in the day. 3) Lemmy, { R.I.P. } was the driving force and constant for this band and was a HUGE influence on people such as Slash, Metallica, Megadeth, etc. It was called *Speed Metal* When Metallica first started out 4) Lemmy was a notorious video gaming freak who hung out an lived by *The Rainbow Room* in L.A. All musicians, huge and not so huge use to hang out there and Lemmy was a fixture there.! OK..... that gives you the background....... I'm going to put 3 requests here and I'm not sure if you've reacted to any of these but I have to start somewhere.! If you have a chance, try reacting to these..... A) Led Zeppelin *Dazed and Confused* STUDIO VERSION off Led Zeppelin 1 B) Aerosmith *Train kept a rollin* C) The Allman Brothers *Whipping Post* Love what you 2 do..... David .....
I never heard this on the radio either. I saw them mostly on early MTV. Though we consider them heavy metal, Lemmy (Motorhead) considered themselves to be Punk. I can see both elements in their music.
Good reactions. But you should check the live version. So you could see the legendary Lemmy singing and playing the bass in his amazing way. Sorry for my english but I'm from Argentina.
Great reaction guys and really glad you liked them. They were one of my favourite live bands ever - they were just a LOUD rock'n'roll band but they influenced so many other bands over the years. Motorhead were the true spirit of fun rock'n'roll who lived life to the full😈 They have so many good songs - Overkill.Bomber,Stay Clean, Metropolis, RAMONES,(We Are) The Road Crew,The Hammer,Fast And Loose are just a few! They also did a few cover versions - Please Don't Touch(with Girlschool) - a Johnny Kidd and The Pirates song which truly is a classic track! Beer Drinkers And Hell Raisers by ZZ Top And the classic Tammy Wynette's C&W standard Stand By Your Man where Lemmy duetted with Wendy O'Williams!!! It's got to be heard to be believed😄 You'll either love it or hate it Finally, a great quote from Lemmy: “If Motörhead moved in next door to you, your lawn would die.”😁
Hey you, Overkill next, but it's gotta be LIVE. Their titular song is also pure gasoline and adrenaline. Frankly, I don't often have need for this kind of high-octane rock'n'roll, but when I do, nothing but Motörhead will do. True originals.
I want to play a card game!! Lemmy could really belt that out! RIP Lemmy. Haven't heard Motorhead in so long that I forgot about this. Cat gives his approval. He was bopping his head with his mom. Happy yes!!!🃏🃏🃏🃏🃏♠️♠️♠️❤Let the Joker be wild!
Hi Cheryl! I'm working on packaging your book. I decided Tom Hanks was too expensive, and according to the movie - his plane crashes half the time anyway - so it' going to be Royal Mail. Sounds more classy than FedEx!
Got to over Motorhead, they had a couple of rag lines Everything Louder Than Everything Else and Louder Than Noise, they were Awesome, some bangers by them are Motorhead (yes thats the song name), Overkill, No Class, Orgasmatron and Killed By Death all great songs
Ace of Spades. I totally forgot about this one. Cool song. Motörhead was one of Metallicas main influence. You can hear it mainly on their first album. I have heard some other songs by them and I did not enjoyed them that much for no big reason. The vocalist is Lemmy Kilmister absolute metal legend. Or I maybe should say rock&roll as Lemmy said :D Thanks for reaction!
Try reacting to "gotta keep running" by the Godz. I know im not a pay-per-view customer but you would really love the song. You would actually be doing yourselves and those who dont know the song a favor by playing it. I wouldnt recommend it if ot wasnt a good rock n roll anthem. Rock on and God bless you.
Actually what you really should watch (and I’m leaving the link so no excuses lol) Motörhead doing a cover of Chuck Berry’s ‘Let It Rock’ live, 1991 on the David Letterman Show. C’mon Larry.. Let it Rock..? Chuck Berry...? Lol, Ok it’s pretty much Johnny B. Goode only better. Short (under 4 minutes) video. GOTTA see it Guys. In 3-1/2 short minutes you will see, hear and feel everything you need to know about just how great these guys really were at playing straight up ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll’. I think Motörhead gave their drummer the night off here relying on the available talent in Letterman’s house band, the legendary drummer Anton Fig. So you get 2/3 of Motörhead, Lemmy on bass and vocals, Phil Campbell on lead guitar, backed up by Letterman’s great house band led by Paul Schafer on piano and keys. And they get down and absolutely rock it. Late night ‘coffee before bed’ tv, no one but Motörhead fans have a clue who Motörhead are. Most bands appearing on this show would ‘turn down’ appropriately for the tiny 500 seat ‘Ed Sullivan CBS Theatre’ Motörhead show up with their Marshall FULL STACK Amps! And turn em up to ‘11’. Because Motörhead, play, Rock ‘n’ Roll. Anyone who was in the theatre that night is probably still suffering hearing issues. They walk onstage ugly, mean and dirty. They say nothing. They turn up and they play, fast and LOUD. Because that’s what they do. They’re playing for themselves and for all their fans that aren’t there. Instead of playing a Motörhead song, which no one except for Motörhead fans will know, they play a Chuck Berry song. Chuck Berry, the ‘inventor’ of rock ‘n’ roll, everyone in the world knows Chuck Berry. But, Johnny B. Goode would be a cop-out. Instead they choose a fiercer C. Berry tune. Something only ‘real’ Chuck Berry fans will know. In 3-1/2 short minutes they absolutely blow the roof off the place, leaving all who witnessed deaf, dumb and blind. “Who was that..., what song was that..?” Motörhead - They played Rock And Roll. HooHoo..., was I too brief? Hey you started it by bringing up Motörhead lol. Jokes aside; They really were THAT GOOD. Hope you two get around to watching this, best wishes, here’s the link. ua-cam.com/video/xuy14mylXB4/v-deo.html
Man, read your comment and checked it out, lifelong Motorhead fan but never saw it before - and that just my day instantly better. Incredible performance, and I love those recordings where you can just physicallly feel the pressure of incredibly high volume - especially remarkable here since I'm sure the dude at the mixing desk did everything he could to mellow it out for the TV broadcast
@@SoreEater Glad I was able to help you find it! Yeah, it’s so good that when I watch it I usually wind up ‘re’- watching it at least 4 or 5 times. Great Chuck Berry lyrics about how the crew working on the RR tracks decide to f*** off, mess around, smoke cigarettes and play cards while the foreman is off collecting up their paychecks... then uh-oh, no one was paying attention- got a high steppin’ train coming, 2 miles out- clear the tracks!! What a great (typical) Motörhead performance. Can imagine the rehearsal with the ‘Late Night’ band. Chuck Berry, “yeah that’s easy, we all know that one”..., “OK, key of B, turn up loud, try and keep up....” The ‘Late Night’ band KILLS IT, probably thrilled to be ‘forced’ to let loose like that. And you’re 100% right.., whoever the engineer was that did the mix that ended up coming through our little “TV set” speakers did a phenomenal job, nice and clear. Motörhead is pure rock and roll, keep spreading the word. Thx and best wishes✌️
One day a child was born in a bar 3 wise men presented this child with with a bass guitar Marlborough cigarettes and Jack DanielsThat child was named limmy and he became God
First order of business was to launch an immediate investigation into why Father has not heard this song before. I believe I may have the answer. Motörhead didn't score anything on Billboard in the US of A until 1982, and Ace of Spades was a hit in the UK at #13 in 1980. The band was formed in Stoke On Trent (in The Potteries of the English Midlands - about 50 miles north of Birmingham) in 1975. Their biggest Billboard hits were in 2013-15, so I guess they've built up a cult following with US fans of the British rock scene over the years perhaps. I don't really know any of their other songs so I have no recommendations. They're mostly known for Ace Of Spades I think. Classic number in anybody's book.
@@lisamorrison2149 - this didn't make Billboard at all, and the ones that did from '82 onwards were in the very lowest reaches of the chart. Someone just posted that they got little airplay. Maybe it's got more airplay since it became a classic by word of mouth.
Doesn't surprise me you didn't hear it..The airplay wasn't huge and it's not classic rock.. I think I first heard it when they played it on late - night T.V.
Motorhead weren't so much huge stars More like they had a really devoted fan base. Like the Grateful Dead e.g. But I do agree that is vintage. So disregard I suppose. Yeah you were both wrong for not knowing it. I agree.

It was called *Speed Metal* When Metallica first started out
4) Lemmy was a notorious video gaming freak who hung out an lived by *The Rainbow Room* in L.A.
A) Led Zeppelin *Dazed and Confused* STUDIO VERSION off Led Zeppelin 1
B) Aerosmith *Train kept a rollin*
C) The Allman Brothers *Whipping Post*
Love what you 2 do..... David .....
Thanks David! We actually already did Whipping Post! -Ethan
I never heard this on the radio either. I saw them mostly on early MTV.
Though we consider them heavy metal, Lemmy (Motorhead) considered themselves to be Punk. I can see both elements in their music.
🔥🤘😎 RiP Lemmy, one of the greats.
Good reactions. But you should check the live version. So you could see the legendary Lemmy singing and playing the bass in his amazing way. Sorry for my english but I'm from Argentina.
Lemmy voice is Rock N Roll
Lemmy, former bassist of Hawkwind. You gotta see their Silver Machine live.
Motörhead; play it fast, play it dirty.
Great reaction guys and really glad you liked them.
They were one of my favourite live bands ever - they were just a LOUD rock'n'roll band but they influenced so many other bands over the years.
Motorhead were the true spirit of fun rock'n'roll who lived life to the full😈
They have so many good songs - Overkill.Bomber,Stay Clean, Metropolis, RAMONES,(We Are) The Road Crew,The Hammer,Fast And Loose are just a few!
They also did a few cover versions - Please Don't Touch(with Girlschool) - a Johnny Kidd and The Pirates song which truly is a classic track!
Beer Drinkers And Hell Raisers by ZZ Top
And the classic Tammy Wynette's C&W standard Stand By Your Man where Lemmy duetted with Wendy O'Williams!!! It's got to be heard to be believed😄 You'll either love it or hate it
Finally, a great quote from Lemmy: “If Motörhead moved in next door to you, your lawn would die.”😁
You need to see a show called The young ones. Episode:Bambi. Actually the clip is on YT. Has Motörhead live in the characters house.
Hey you, Overkill next, but it's gotta be LIVE. Their titular song is also pure gasoline and adrenaline.
Frankly, I don't often have need for this kind of high-octane rock'n'roll, but when I do, nothing but Motörhead will do. True originals.
Another great Motorhead song to react to is "God Was Never On Your Side"
I want to play a card game!! Lemmy could really belt that out! RIP Lemmy. Haven't heard Motorhead in so long that I forgot about this. Cat gives his approval. He was bopping his head with his mom. Happy yes!!!🃏🃏🃏🃏🃏♠️♠️♠️❤Let the Joker be wild!
Hi Cheryl!
Hi Cheryl! I'm working on packaging your book. I decided Tom Hanks was too expensive, and according to the movie - his plane crashes half the time anyway - so it' going to be Royal Mail. Sounds more classy than FedEx!
@@lisamorrison2149 Hey Lisa. This was cat approved.!!😹
@@davemac1197 Nooo! Can't crash with precious cargo! Thanks so much.
@@cherylreichardt Definitely! Purrfection.
Pulllll Sunday!
I voted 🗳 for Dio of course! Strangely enough , I’ve seen Dio & Motörhead live together !
Hawkwind ‘Silver Machine’
You got to get out more 😆
Eat the Rich is another great Motorhead tune.
Hi guys. This is about the closest to growling that I want to get! Classic tune.
Lemmy's voice. Like gravel!! How's it going Dave?
@@cherylreichardt - I'm doing great. Looks like rain again, so I hope Noah finished his ark before posting here!
@@davemac1197 Rain on the menu all week. We need it but not a deluge!
@@cherylreichardt - it's okay, Noah's subscribed to the channel.
@@davemac1197 Then all is good!
you should react to the song Lemmy wrote as a tribute to the Ramones... it's called R.A.M.O.N.E.S.
Probably what people call proto or early metal, from the UK. Lemmy is a God of this genre like Ozzy, but this is an anthem.
Or I maybe should say rock&roll as Lemmy said :D
Thanks for reaction!
Hey James! Glad to see ya back. That’s cool to know that they were one of the main innovators for metal. -Ethan
Hey guys check out the movie Lemmy and you will understand. True Legend Lemmy is.
Don't know how you have never heard of this lol
Did you teach him about the meme? Lemmy really is God.
Lemmy !!
"MOTORHEAD IRONFIST LIVE HAMBURG"
there's your problem man motorhead wasn't radio music lol but i applaud your choice in songs
Sadly all 3 musicians on this song - Lemmy, Philthy Phil Taylor and Fast Eddie Clarke - are all now dead. But they certainly left a legacy behind.
Good info, Dave. I remember Motorhead's release of this song. Probably because I'm older than Larry.
@@lisamorrison2149 - thank you. Maybe they had an earlier impact in Canada?
@@davemac1197 I don't know about that. It was on the radio all the time. Radio Stations from Toronto and Detroit. It must be an age thing. Ha ha.
@@lisamorrison2149 - this didn't make Billboard at all, and the ones that did from '82 onwards were in the very lowest reaches of the chart. Someone just posted that they got little airplay. Maybe it's got more airplay since it became a classic by word of mouth.
@@davemac1197 That makes sense. I could be mistaken on the date.
This the same band that sings triple h's theme song lol?
That’s what people are saying! -Ethan
@@fatherandsonreactions You watch WWE at all?
Not much. Used to watch it a bit. My dad was into it in the 80s. -Ethan
Is Ethan a WWE/WWF fan? They do Triple H's entrance The Game.
I’m not. I’ve got a ton of friends that are though! -Ethan
I never hurd it either, don't care for it
Larry doesn't know it. I for one am not shocked at all.
LOOOOL! 🤣 -Ethan
Doesn't surprise me you didn't hear it..The airplay wasn't huge and it's not classic rock.. I think I first heard it when they played it on late - night T.V.
First to comment!
Haha you got it! !
Hope you've finished your ark, young man, because it looks like rain here! (Birmingham, UK)
Motorhead weren't so much huge stars More like they had a really devoted fan base. Like the Grateful Dead e.g. But I do agree that is vintage. So disregard I suppose. Yeah you were both wrong for not knowing it. I agree.
It's a metal classic, not a pop classic.
C'mon Father, Motorhead is better than Van Halen. OK, I know that is not saying much. Anyway, how does he not know Motorhead?
Not sure! Maybe they came a bit before his radio days? -Ethan
That is funny - you should be a stand up comedian
