I’m not a huge VH fan, but who DOESNT like this song? It’s so lighthearted and fun, the best of VH.
I don't like the song.
Glad this won the poll, one it was I voted for, but second it was on of my songs that I had on my cowbell list I submitted. Sorry cowbell wasn't throughout the song Ethan
Other Van Halen songs I don't think you have heard yet Ethan - And The Cradle Will Rock, Runnin' With the Devil, Unchained, Ice Cream Man, Pouncake - ask dad to choose.
My personal favorite Van Halen song never have they achieved this pure Pop again love them love you
I’ve never been a huge Van Halen fan, but this song is good. The cowbell smokes
“Runnin with the Devil” would be my recommendation. The synth intro and opening bass riff are a killer introduction to the band. “Panama” is another great tune
Love Van Halen, easily one of my favorite bands! “Humans Being”, and “Atomic Punk” are some other awesome tracks by them u guys should check out! Really enjoyed your reaction😆🤘🏽
Love the videos- “I’ll Wait”… from 1984 is always an underrated tune I always “airdrum “ to- I’m sure your dad would agree….
A good radio friendly song but I must admit Van Halen were never too much on my radar at the time but David Lee Roth was a great front man.
A song about the same time that I think you should check out is My Sharona by The Knack
Showing my age but in '79 I was more interested the new albums that came out that year - AC/DC - Highway To Hell, Fleetwood Mac - Tusk, Supertramp - Breakfast in America and Pink Floyd -The Wall!🤘😃
Love this song. Early when Van Halen was so how should I say…. Had that Cali -Rocking theme.
Cow bell was just for the intro. Relax and enjoy
Great conversational flow between you two!! Love it!
BOO 🧟♂️! I am back y'all, back and better than ever. Great song. Ah yes- gotta love those 80s, a time when alot of thos generation wish they were born in. Hair bands, real music, video games, denim and leather, leather and lace, mullets and patchouli. Great to be back, and great to see y'all again ❤🤘✌ As always, much love&respect 😊
Hey Ron! Great to see you again and we are so glad to hear you say “better than ever”!
My dad says the 80s was the height of many people’s lives and I can definitely see why. Sometimes I wish I lived through it (musically speaking). -Ethan
You just perfectly summed up the 80s......😊🤟🤟👍
@@markferrett700 lived it to the Nth degree...
@@roncardenas2582 me too🎸
Man, they played this one way too much in my side of town. ❤
Van Halen are an enigma.....for some reason they seem to be NOT treated seriously....yet they are/were a seriously serious rock band.....love em🎸🎸
What are you talking about?
They were treated VERY seriously mainly because of Eddie Van Halen who probably was the greatest rock guitarist of all time.
@@yesterdayproductions1019 yep...that's what I'm talking about!!!!
One of my top 20 songs of all time. Never get tired of hearing it.
This is one of the rare Van Halen songs that my mom actually likes btw. xD
Hello! Oh yes! I can definitely see Larry with the mullet! This is Van Halen at their best! Nothing like David Lee Roth vocals! Cowbell bonus! Rock on Eddie on guitar! RIP
Shall we dare him to grow it out again?

@@66edougHi there 😂
Hi Cheryl, I'm a Sammy guy. Dave brought the party attitude.
This song shows how important Michael Anthony was to Van Halen. He and Eddie's backing vocals are the best part of the song. Other than the cowbell.
hello #@66edoug throwin' light on Van Halen w/o mentioning DLR. well done. this time i'm glad it wasn't a video. i like Van Halen's music. i used to 'run with the devil' now i run the cold tap for a nice glass of H2O. hydration over gyration. peace.
@@im-already-tired-tomorrow Seems you're doing pretty good and your "dreams" of Aaron Judge returning has happened.
Oh I forgot
Hey@@im-already-tired-tomorrow!
@@66edoug when i was a boy i asked my Grandfather about a dream i had and what it meant. "It means your were sleeping" he said. As for Judge he is an all around great ballplayer and leader , as you know. How long he stays healthy we don't know. sometime i'll tell ya the story when i coached an inner city roller hockey team. i was 21 so it involves a car w/crank roll down windows and a key for the trunk. (and a little country bar crowd that donated all their used/much needed equipment). but i digress. All Rise ! :)
@@im-already-tired-tomorrow The Yankees do need Judge a lot. The roller hockey story sounds intriguing.
The song might be too short. For cowbells - Chicago's cover of "I'm A Man" Full length version. Either from Transit Authority or Tanglewood.
Probably my favorite Van Halen song. You should do some Elvis. Two good ones from the '68 special are If I Can Dream (white suit version) and Trying to Get to You (black leather seated version.) Another good one is In the Ghetto. Then expand from there.
😎👍
From ' 78 young man not the 80's 😊😊
Hi guys! Hope your week is proceeding according to plan...
Hello there!
@@cherylreichardt - Hello there!
Hello hello!
@@davemac1197I'm melting! Too humid! 🥵
Hi Dave!
Have to say Van Halen was not on my radar, they just sounded very commercial and American to my ears, and my usual caveat about anyone called 'Dave' is that I would admit that we can be a bit of a handful, but I like to think we're a benevolent sort of handful! I know you like chart data, so they first charted in the UK with their second single Runnin' With The Devil in 1978 (US #84, UK #52), Dance The Night Away didn't chart here in 1979 (US #15), but the Roy Orbison cover (Oh) Pretty Woman did in 1982 (US #12, UK #47), their biggest UK hits were Jump in 1983 (US #1, UK #7) and Why Can't This Be Love in 1986 (US #3, UK #8), and their last UK hit was Amsterdam in 1995 (US Mainstream Airplay #9, UK #77).
Van Halen was huge> Surprising that they weren't successful in the UK. You never know why one is so popular in one place and not the other. But iy is universally known that all Dave's are crazy.
@@66edoug - probably the same reason that C&W doesn't sell outside the States - sounds too American.
@@davemac1197 That could be it. You live there. You would know better.
@@66edoug - there might be a reason we don't have a Country & Western music scene...
@@davemac1197 No honky-tonks or trailer parks.
VH's second album, from 1979 is an absolutely great but so underrated and little played (on radio) LP. The only 'problem' with the song is it is too short. Spanish Fly/D.O.A. is a classic, as is Beautiful Girls. Also cool tunes from VH II are Bottoms Up and Women In Love . Eddie and Michael were masters of their instruments but they are also superb backing vocalists; very clear and almost sweet intonation by them in harmony.
P.S. Please, please react to Ice Cream Man from their debut album. It's suggestive but fun with a bluesy rock edge.
It's not a cover.......vh original
@@phildodson6141 Thanks for the correction. My silly mistake. I was mixing it up with their version of Martha and the Vandellas' Dancing In the Street.
If I only had one band to listen to I think it would be V.H.
Great pick
It’s just a perfect song. Period. You don’t have to like the band.
Give a listen to " Ice Cream Man." By VH.
Molly Hatchet- Fall of the Peacemakers
just do it already.
Ethan you're not missing out on anything special by missing I'm on Fire by Springsteen at all. Even Bruce is embarrassed about that song. Do Van Halen's On Fire instead, worlds better.
✌Peace✌
There was no one like Van Halen... DTNA ( a song from 1979) is one of my favorite videos by them as well....
ua-cam.com/video/llfjDUB66Z4/v-deo.html
After they bought the drugs and alcohol, Van Halen only had enough money to pay a cowbell player for five seconds. By the way I'm On Fire is my favorite song from Born In the USA and #3 on my Springsteen list.
They stopped the cowbell and let Eddie take over. Good tradeoff.
Mr. Roth could sing somewhat decently - the albums prove that he was well able and tho he opted for showboating live and whilst his vocal performances live appeared to wane and become secondary - sadly. We often hear in the ongoing argument - about the Roth vs. Hagar era - which era is superior and who between the two was a better vocalist. Matters of taste but as is often the case in rock and roll, vocal styling(s) Trump technique/range
