  • Mechanic told my customer he had a bad injector because of the fault code SPN 1328 FMI 31.
    It’s always important to ask questions and find out ps much as you can. Customer also mentioned he heard a sound when truck was at idle but went away when engine rpm was increased.
    After a quick compression test we found cylinders 4, 5 and 6 had very low compression. Especially number 6, after a valve adjustment we were able to improve compression in all cylinders. Although number 6 did improve to almost 70% it did not increase like the other cylinders.
    Remember to stay on top of your maintenance.

    Want to take care of your unit. Do valve adjustment every 200k. Doing so Eng head will last you over 1 mill.
    Also per freightliner. It needs to be at or above 85%.

    Still don't get fooled guys, that engine can blow the valves in next 100 miles since they were so tight for so long. That's another danger of late adjustment

    I have a little issue with the abs I kw keep getting code spn810 fmi14. I cleaned all the rings and abs sensor. Is there anything else that I can do? Or what exactly do this code means? (I’m not a mechanic I’m just an o/o trying to fix my truck) thanks for the info.

    What's the average cost of a valve adj

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  Рік тому +5

      Depends on the Cascadia. For example, if it is the short nose it might be a little extra. But typically a valve adjustment will cost $350-450.

    Would something like this still happen if you adjust your valves every 100,000 miles?

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  Рік тому +1

      I don’t believe so, unless there is something else wrong. Just think of it as routine maintenance.

    Did you figure out the rpm bounce

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  16 днів тому

      @@tejnoor48 I don’t remember exactly. But if you are getting the RPM bounce could be caused by the quantity control valve. That leads to other things.

    I wonder what owner of this truck did next? I have same problem with sixth cylinder compression. Too low compared to other cylinders

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  11 місяців тому

      Next step is a valve adjustment. Have a good mechanic run the overhead. But if the number 6 cylinder has low compression, have the mechanic let you know what they find. How tight were the valves on the number 6.? The intake will most likely be out of adjustment the most.

    • @spacemerchant7
      @spacemerchant7 11 місяців тому

      My mechanic did valve adjustment and after that compression went to 96% on sixth cylinder. But it get worse after few months. Right now is around 83%. He says only replacing cylinder head will fix problem

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  11 місяців тому

      @spicemerchant636 he is correct, the valves are worn and it will continue as the truck is used. Common issue with the DD15 2015 and newer. I think once Detroit switched to the single lobe on the intake CAM.

    How much it cost valve adjustment itself for dd15

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  Рік тому

      A valve adjustment will cost around $400.
      If you have a DD13 with a short nose it might be more because you have half the motor inside cab.

  • @ramonlizarraga5768
    @ramonlizarraga5768 Рік тому

    How much its valve adjustment Pedro, dd15

    • @CarlosDieselElectric
      @CarlosDieselElectric  Рік тому +2

      Typically you are looking at $350-450 depending on the Cascadia you have. The short nose Cascadia will cost more because of the way the engine sits inside the cab.
