Hello, Im beside myself with angst for my DVD/tv. Bought a DVD at Amazon auction, supposed to have a remote, doesnt. It also has no info on the case, model # etc. It has 3 plugs on one end of the cable, 1 on the other. Red, yellow white and the single is black. The unit has 3 sockets, 2 yellow, 1 silver metal. No HDMI. The tv has 3 HDMI sockets, 1 audio socket, I believe it would be for a sound bar, we dont have one. The unit has 20 separate buttons for choosing menu, audio etc. Some of the buttons work, some dont. And I cant get it to scroll L or R on the lists. Also the DVD tray wont open now, it opened on Monday at preview. It has a swivel screen, 19 in. It is on the Amazon website, but instructions/remote are not. Our tv is an insignia, the remote is a GE, so I believe the remote is a universal. I think it will work if I can figure out how to get them together! I hope I gave you enough info, so you can help. hello. thanks for the straight-forward video. How do you connect the dvd player and cable box? What do you do if the store (Best Buy) no longer sells a green-colored composite cord? The package is now yellow, white, and red A/V cable.
If they do not have the right cable colors, the others will work. All of those cables are pretty much the same, they are just a different color. Feel free to use the wrong colors, just make sure that the connections match on both ends. I hope this helps.

You made it sound not so complicated. However, I have only one cable with white red and green. I did it like you indicated, but no picture, no sound. I have an Element TV. got a new Samsung smart tv. hooked my dvd and vcr to a switcher that converts RCA to HDMI 2. when I select HDMI 2 with the remote I get no signal. I tested the conversion cable with the old tv and it worked. is there something simple that I am missing?

Hi. my TV input is on comp and my DVD player is set up with red, white and yellow cables connected to the TV. I was watching a DVD and stop for a minute, and when I returned, no picture would play. I check all the wiring, shut off the TV and DVD player, it still did not work. I can still get the comp input, but it's not connecting with the TV. The DVD is on and it's playing the disc but it's not showing on the TV. I need help.
Your DVD player may have a setting that needs to be adjusted. Sometimes, it is a switch on the back of the device. It's also possible that your TV isn't compatible.

did you disconnect the dvd player ? i would then unplug your tv from the socket for a few minutes, plug it back in and allow the tv to reset itself. ONN has a converter named WATCH to connect with dvd players, hope this helps 👍

I would recommend finding a DVD player with HDMI. It is probably cheaper than getting an adapter.

You will need an HDMI splitter or unplug it every time you want to switch devices.
My connections don't look like anything you show, e.g., The DVD player has only four connections.
It sounds like you need to use the red white and yellow cable.
