Thank you from the bottom of my old grandma heart. I was organizing my stash. Records, CD's ,VHS tapes. And remembered I have a vcr/dvd player.I knew the DVD player had died along time ago. But going through my old VHS tapes there were some I really wanted to watch. I also have an older tv that I don't use. Thanks to you I was able to do this myself. Grandma is happy.Thank you again.
This by far has been the most helpful and uncomplicated tutorial video I have ever seen. I was just getting ready to either return VCR/DVD or go to a local Shop and most likely ended up wasting money. Thank you so much!! You're an awesome Teacher.
I can't thank you enough Peter! Was about to toss my equipment thinking it was too old to connect to a newer TV. I'm so grateful to you as I can use my VHS/DVD player again!!!
Oh My Gosh, you are my hero of the night!!! I spent hours trying to figure this out. We rented a movie for my grandson and he got so tired of me trying to figure this out that he fell asleep. Oh well, thanks to you, he can watch it tomorrow. Thank you!
Thanks so much! Me and my grandma found an old collection and she got to see her parents who passed a while ago. This video is truly a blessing. I hope you and your family stay healthy. Again, thank you.
So happy I came across this.. All the others were not nearly as simplified as this one and quality of explaining the colors and cord's were on point.. Thank you sir
OMGOODNESS!!!!! Would you believe I've been trying to figure out how to get my VCR/DVD player to work with my flat screen for at least two years. To say I'm not tech savvy is an serious understatement. I was literally heading to Best Buy tomorrow get some advice since I want to be able to view some of my favorite Christmas videos. I followed your simple directions and just like that my vcr is finally communicating with my TV. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!
My only complaint is i didn't find this video before my usual debacle 😂 now this is a how-to done right, no one wants production value. Quick, concise, and effective. And for that i thank you sir *tips fedora*
Thanks so much! Got a used vcr/dvd player off of Ebay. My son won't be here for awhile, and I needed to make sure it was working properly before the return period expired. 63 years old, and feel pretty darn good about doing this myself! Only because I watched this video!
My new tv (Element) doesn’t have the yellow cord option but it has the other color. I used to have a Sceptre tv after five years the screen went out on it one day. I have a Sony DVD player with an HDMI cord option I guess I’ll have to use that. If I could use the colored cords I don’t even know what channel I’m to turn to watch DVDs.
Hi Thank You. I have been trying this for weeks now and cannot get it to work. I have a phillips vcr/dvd combo. and a smart tv. I have the cables in the correct cable still says no signal and cable box is off. Help...
If it’s a TV VCR combo player (tv with a vhs player inside of it) It could be one of two things 1) The VHS you’re using could be damaged, I would try another VHS if that doesn’t work it’s most likely problem 2 2) The connection in your TV combo player that plays your VHS sound could have been damaged some how. That connection would need to be replaced, if that’s the case it’s almost impossible to find the parts to repair it. If it’s problem 2 I would just go buy a cheap $8 VHS player from the thrift store, then you can connect that VHS player to your TV VCR combo player =)
I did all this vcr will not play only dvd. Nothing is wrong wit the vcr part either cuz it plays on old tv just fine. Sucks being generation x living in too many texhnologies at once.
My Westinghouse TV does not have a yellow one but my Sanyo VCR does. I keep getting an error message that it is not connected check source ... what am I doing wrong ? Thanks
Thank you for clear and specific step by step instructions. This video blessed me with a quick fix. I had everything right but could not find out how to set the channel. On my smart TV , instead of ATV , I had to change it to COMP (Composite). Best video for novice in 2020 👌🏾
Xerno, you have no idea how thankful I am that you took the time out to comment. I moved four months ago and tried zillions of times to get it to connect to my TV. I never thought to try the green. THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for teaching this semi ole lady how to hook up my go video (DVD/VCR) machine I rescued from my previous home that I was going to discard after watching video after video on how to hook it up to T.V. Thank goodness your tutorial explained that that on the back of a T.V. the Y is for Yellow/Video no matter if the Y is displayed with a different color. My T.V. has the Y in mint green leading me to believe I had to have a mint green connecter. HAHA! It was like a light bulb went off and an Awwwww moment! Now I can watch my old VHS tapes and DVD's knowing that with your help, I did it without giving up or asking for help from my loved one. I feel victorious!!!! Thank you so much!
You are an angel! Thank you!! I have to lose weight, and I thought I would have to buy new cds to replace my old vhs tapes; you saved me a ton of money!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to help people like me who had no idea how to hook it up. Others who said their yellow hooked in to the green one was what got it working. Thank you again!
Thank you. I have been fighting with this off and on for a month. I was convinced that I had to buy different cords until I saw your video instructions. So easy!!!
Your video helped me. Thank you. The issue I'm having (that I don't see in the comments) is no sound. It's driving me nuts. I'm hooked up by outside cable. New insignia smart tv and older JVC dvd player. Dvd player works, just no sound to the TV. AV connected correctly. Can you offer a suggestion?
@@marilynwells1989 I came to learn / assume that we can no longer use VCRs like we used to back in the day. I believe it's due to the signal being digital and no longer analog.

Hi there, thanks so much for your help ... however! I'm getting "unsupported" on my tv ... I'll have to further research, but again, thanks for your valuable insight! keep it going :)

Thanks. Peter you made it clear.... you showed the DVD/VCR player and the back of the TV.. good video. Other videos just show yellow, red, white but you do not know if it is the back of the TV or VCR..... But you Peter made it very clear... I got my connection in 3 minutes. Thumps up.
