We walked it with my son that has steel rods in his spine and a daschund, everyone cheered the teeny dog making it to the top, but you definitely made the right decision, we had no views at the top and it was a race to get off cos mountain rescue might have had to be called, enjoy the rest of your trip, really miss Arran though xx

Ok sooo Philly... sometimes wierd little things happen to motors... take a flashlight/torch and get a pretty long stick and see if anything has gotten backed up into the tailpipe of the van exhaust ... we - as rotten teenagers would use a potato & black magic marker(to color the potato so you cant see it inside the pipe) and and plug the tailpipe... this caused the car to run for a while then just quit like Martha's doing... couldnt hurt to check if theres dirt or mud or whatever up in there since theres no lights to guide the mechanical repair check for the mischievous possibilities❤😅 no - i live in America... I didnt do it. LOL also does it happen after it rains or you go through water...there may be something getting into the fuel.
Oh no I hope Martha is ok. Love your go with the flow attitude. I’d have been wound up with the Martha problems and aborted the hike immediately. You are doing Scotland properly, never occurred to me to visit Arran. Skye is also good and there is a bridge to get to it for free. I’m challenging you to another climb - Stac Pollaidh. It’s not as long as Ben Nevis but the view is amazing. Might be a good trainer for Keely! So many laughs in this video, really enjoy seeing you every Sunday.
Ailsa Craig. The island that you kept showing out at sea. Can be seen from where my Irish ancestors lived, when they moved to Scotland in the late 1800's. Visiting the Scottish islands, still on my bucket list of places to visit in Scotland, Ben Nevis. you need to be fit to climb that mountain, i do not think i could do it now and a few youtubers have tried and failed. Smells, noises, weird vibrations - all good clues. If my dad was still alive, (mechanic all his life), he could solve lots of stuff using more skills than just plug in the diagnostics doohickey. He had the skills to not only figure out what was wrong with a car, but also fix it - sometimes he even needed to use the things back at his Citroën service dealership, but often he just used proper knowhow and tools on the driveway. 17yrs gone, still missed daily.
@@phillyandkeelyIt seemed like that to many! I got some of his tools... and watched plenty as he explained what he was doing. I remember him changing a wheel bearing on his old Vauxhall Viva on the driveway at home after I'd whacked it into a kerb, pulling the driveshaft out of the rear axle and just finding the necessary stuff to fix it in his collection of things kept 'just in case'. It's more of a confidence thing, really, so I'm still servicing bits like the EGR valve, the turbo sensors and all sorts of stuff that gets coked up in grime in my current cars. When he died, he still had parts for an even older car of ours in the attic, an Austin A35 van (think Wallace and Gromit for what that looked like) that he'd put rear windows and seats in - late 60's MPV?! He'd sold it maybe 30 years previous and we know it got written off shortly afterwards in a crash on the A1, but he kept the bits anyway... A lot of his really old Whitworth-spec tools went off to Africa, where that standard of fittings are still used.
I'm pretty sure we are probably wrong calling it the isle of Arran 🤣🤣🤣 we did wonder about the fuel, but we've only filled it up at Asda, surely that's not gonna be bad?

Keely - I, like you, really suffer when hiking uphill! There must be some trick that we are missing - others seem to be able to ascend without a problem. Are we breathing wrong? Does anyone know of any specific exercised we can do to increase our ability? Other than climb a mountain, that is. Haha

Ok sooo Philly... sometimes wierd little things happen to motors... take a flashlight/torch and get a pretty long stick and see if anything has gotten backed up into the tailpipe of the van exhaust ... we - as rotten teenagers would use a potato & black magic marker(to color the potato so you cant see it inside the pipe) and and plug the tailpipe... this caused the car to run for a while then just quit like Martha's doing... couldnt hurt to check if theres dirt or mud or whatever up in there since theres no lights to guide the mechanical repair check for the mischievous possibilities❤😅 no - i live in America... I didnt do it. LOL also does it happen after it rains or you go through water...there may be something getting into the fuel.

Oh no I hope Martha is ok. Love your go with the flow attitude. I’d have been wound up with the Martha problems and aborted the hike immediately. You are doing Scotland properly, never occurred to me to visit Arran. Skye is also good and there is a bridge to get to it for free. I’m challenging you to another climb - Stac Pollaidh. It’s not as long as Ben Nevis but the view is amazing. Might be a good trainer for Keely! So many laughs in this video, really enjoy seeing you every Sunday.

Visiting the Scottish islands, still on my bucket list of places to visit in Scotland, Ben Nevis. you need to be fit to climb that mountain, i do not think
i could do it now and a few youtubers have tried and failed.

Smells, noises, weird vibrations - all good clues. If my dad was still alive, (mechanic all his life), he could solve lots of stuff using more skills than just plug in the diagnostics doohickey. He had the skills to not only figure out what was wrong with a car, but also fix it - sometimes he even needed to use the things back at his Citroën service dealership, but often he just used proper knowhow and tools on the driveway. 17yrs gone, still missed daily.
Your dad sounds like a wizard ❤️❤️ hopefully he passed on some of his skills to you.
@@phillyandkeelyIt seemed like that to many! I got some of his tools... and watched plenty as he explained what he was doing. I remember him changing a wheel bearing on his old Vauxhall Viva on the driveway at home after I'd whacked it into a kerb, pulling the driveshaft out of the rear axle and just finding the necessary stuff to fix it in his collection of things kept 'just in case'. It's more of a confidence thing, really, so I'm still servicing bits like the EGR valve, the turbo sensors and all sorts of stuff that gets coked up in grime in my current cars.
When he died, he still had parts for an even older car of ours in the attic, an Austin A35 van (think Wallace and Gromit for what that looked like) that he'd put rear windows and seats in - late 60's MPV?! He'd sold it maybe 30 years previous and we know it got written off shortly afterwards in a crash on the A1, but he kept the bits anyway... A lot of his really old Whitworth-spec tools went off to Africa, where that standard of fittings are still used.

I'm pretty sure we are probably wrong calling it the isle of Arran 🤣🤣🤣 we did wonder about the fuel, but we've only filled it up at Asda, surely that's not gonna be bad?
OK if you've let the fuel run very low in your tank it can suck up dirt that lies on the bottom. My car doesn't like certain fuels eg cheaper grades
Maybe just stick to the premium diesel in future

Keely - I, like you, really suffer when hiking uphill! There must be some trick that we are missing - others seem to be able to ascend without a problem. Are we breathing wrong? Does anyone know of any specific exercised we can do to increase our ability? Other than climb a mountain, that is. Haha
