    I'm so happy to see a video from you. The change in my skin due to your knowledge of ingredients is mind-blowing. My daughter actually showed me a picture from 5 years ago and told me I was reverse aging. I no longer have acne and my scarring is nearly gone. You've changed my life!

    This is amazing! The two vitamin C videos together are so informative and well made. I love that you show every single product in detail and comment on the smell, texture, level of irritation, etc. It is beyond helpful. I am sure it takes a lot of effort to put a video like this together, so I really wanted you to know how much it is appreciated. Also kudos for writing the price of each product. It saves us so much time. And the range of alternatives you show is so wide I feel everyone can pick out at least one product that is both affordable and a great fit. Standing ovation for this one :)

    I have The Ordinary’s 100% Ascorbic Acid powder and i absolutely love it, I’ve never had a product transform my skin that much! My acne and little bumps are finally clearing little by little and the glow i get is so pretty (even on my combo to oily skin, i like it)

      ennyl ennyl I mix mine with either Buffet or Natural Moisturising Factors. You have to avoid mixing it or applying with Niacinamide and EUK (otherwise you’re risking an unpleasant irritation) - it’s explained on the Deciem website :)

      ennyl ennyl, I mix mine with a hydrating toner ! I love the Secret Key rose toner 😊 (though i don’t think the pH is that acidic so it tingles more) just try not to mix it with something too harsh as the vit c is already pretty strong lol 😂 also try to find a low pH toner/product, i find that it helps more to reduce the tingling sensation

    I have bought the DE twice and it was dark brown. I expected better for
    The price. The Maelove is beautiful. I’m on my second bottle. Has made a huge difference on my décolletage. They have run out of stock twice however it almost guarantees freshness. I also bought their Night Refiner. Really nice glycolic acid product. Maelove’s prices are terrific. Great video!

    Brilliant video as always! I have to agree with you when it comes to Melano CC - I bought my first tube in HK in Dec last year, and at that point had suffered a lot of adult cystic acne, which left quite a lot of PIH and PIE. Majority of the PIH were along my jaw, and there were a lot of them. I walked into the first Watson's and used the the same evening.
    After 4-5 days, I kid you not, I already saw a remarkable difference along the jawline. Now I can hardly see the pigmentation there. I have found though, with active acne, it does aggravate the live spot (I've just recently managed to calm my adult acne down) and is best when there is nothing cystic going one. Used in the day time has together with Adapalene every other night, and Tamanu oil and niacinamide, it has faded my PIH and encourgaged my PIE to heal faster. Considering my skin was more or less flawless until 2 years ago, and now am riddled with scars, I am just thankful you have confirmed my personal findings. I won't get my old skin back, but I certainly wont need to cake my face in concealer and foundation to hide the mess anymore.

    The esthetician I’ve started seeing was freaking out this morning because I said I don’t use a vitamin c serum so here I am! Thanks for all this great information! The vitamin c serum I bought (long ago) was 20% and it really irritated my skin. I didn’t realize that a weaker percentage could mean less irritation. I’m ready to try again with a lower vitamin c percentage formula and feel very well informed after watching this video.

    Is there something more enjoyable and relaxing than Renée's voice talking about Vitamin C during 23(!!) minutes?! I don't think so. 😄
    SkinCeuticals serums AND SPF are in my life thanks to you and my skin looks really good now!
    I don't even wear foundation anymore - this is truly freeing as I used to refuse to go outside if I did not have any makeup on. I still wear makeup since I love it, but I either go with a very light base or nothing at all... and I'm okay with this. Thank you so much, Renée, for being one the influences which helped me getting my confidence back. :-) x Davie

    I ve used Kiehl's for quite a while, their 10% never broke me but 12.5%, it did numbers on my skin. The ordinary silicone 30% is my favourite, I mix it with Resevetarol freulic solution and the result is fantastic 👌. It does sting but but makes all the difference not just for brightening but has helped with my boxcar acne.

    Melano CC ! It's cheap, convenient to use, doesn't irritate (I'm on adapalene) and super effective. I wasn't expecting much of if and was just hoping it would speed up the acne scare healing process after a few months, but it showed effects after only a couple weeks, I was really surprised. Overall less redness/PIE, more even skintone, smoother texture, as for the PIH they are slowly fading.

    I just got the ordinary l ascorbic powder and trying to figure out how to mix it precisely. But I am relieved now because of your video. Also, the silicone suspension on my skin was weird, tingling me only for the first few applications, but then I switched and somehow started using it as a spot treatment and it has reduced my pimple scars so it's better used that way, also without many steps prior to it.
    You are very informed and very trusting and your skin is beautiful!

      @thelipstickgal 6 років тому +5

      Silvina Alejandra Yes I have. I went through four sample bottles, and finally sprung for the full size. I’ve used 3 full size bottles, and it made a visible difference. Just like Renee said in her video, it was the first vit C product I tried. That was 6+ years ago. Since then, I’ve tried so many vit C serums. The only ones I’ve repurposed are the SokoGlam and CosRx Lightening Serum, and the L Ascorbic Acid Powder from The Ordinary. I seem to get the best results, with a more reasonable price. I really like the lightweight feeling the sokoglam serum has, and it layers so very well!
      Out of all of The Ordinary’s Vit C products (and I’ve tried them all) the powder is the one I like the best, because it mixes with anything you add it to. Most of the Ordinary’s products are good, but they lack the cosmetic elegance of other higher priced products. Their powder is such an inexpensive way to add that antioxidant boost to anything you’re currently using. Just my two cents.

I am currently using the Timeless. I haven't used it on my skin for long enough to make a call on it for my own skin. That being said, I've owned it long enough for it oxidize. When I got it, I was finishing up some other skincare and then my skin freaked out. So I had it sitting around for quite awhile. I read some comments about people keeping it the fridge, so that's what I did. No oxidation yet. Also I have tried some other 20% serums, and my skin was too sensitive for it. I don't have tingling or burning with this one. ❤️

    Hey, Renee! I was just wondering if you were wearing any face makeup in this video? Your skin looks so amazingly even and glowy, whether it's makeup or skincare, I'd love an updated routine!

    • @gothamista
      @gothamista  6 років тому +6

      I absolutely am wearing makeup! But only to even out my skin tone, I don't do anything with alot of coverage because it looks horrible on me. The glow comes from lotsa, LOTSA hydration, years of vit C, oil serums etc!

      I know your channel is mostly skincare, but I'd love to see your makeup picks as well! Maybe even some makeup that doubles as skincare or vice versa? I always struggle to find products to cover up mild hyperpigmentation and dark circles without being too cakey because I don't love high coverage foundation either.

    I have the Cosrx one and it has definitely helped with my hyperpigmentation caused by adolescent acne and skin picking. I’ve purchased it twice and never had it oxidize before I finished using it because I was really meticulous about storing it in the refrigerator.

    • @gothamista
      @gothamista  6 років тому +9

      Hi Bonnie!! The percentage of Vit E and Ferulic acid are different from the skinceuticals in order to create the most stable formulation within the parameters of a different, pH (due to the skinceuticals patent). Out of respect to the brand I won't reveal the exact percentage but there is slightly more ferulic acid than vitamin C. The ferulic is really there as a stabilizer for L-AA so there is a little more. Hope this helps, my love!

I have combination skin but they still work beautifully as long as the texture of the product is not too creamy. Please review the May Coop products, I heard good things about them but I really trust your opinion. I would also love it if you would recommend more Japanese skincare. I love the Hada Labo products that you mentioned in previous videos. You are so beautiful and your skin is perfection!

      Hi Cindy, I've heard putting C-serums in the fridge have helped others. I personally don't do it because the fact that I' always opening the fridge door, I feel like it causes the temperature to oscillate alot which probably isn't the best thing. So it never made a difference to my products. I just store in a cool dark area
