    You can "hear" how cold it is by the way the snow crunches when you walk on it. Also, you can "see" how cold it is when the salt on the roads isn't melting the snow and ice.

      @@MuhammadKhanHyd If I recall correctly, Canada requires snow tires on vehicles during the Winter months... That probably helps quite a bit. In WI they are not required.

    Long live humans and their technologies. Nearly every other animals retreat due to cold but the wonderful humans still stay and survive. Bravo.

    • @ashblackhawk
      @ashblackhawk 10 місяців тому +1

      Tundra is not meant to live for humans. There is a reason no one lived there until 500 years back in last 2 million year history. It s kept alive at cost of cheap labour and burning excess fuel to keep building heated up. In hundreds of year when world is better than today, that place will not have migrants to keep it warm and work in atrocious weather at cost of taking toll on social and mental health. For now the show goes on.

      -46C is too cold to be outside but in normal winter (zero to -20C) people don't shiver because they dress properly and buildings are designed for extreme hot/cold. It's -17C in Toronto right now and I'm in my shorts and a t-shirt.

      @@sashadoji1795 Frost bite can happen at any temperature below zero, its based off time exposed, and is also affected by wind speed and wetness. Alberta is extremely windy, with bad storms the wind can easily reach 100+ km/h, even on a normal day gusts overs 50km/h all night are very common. Also most cases of frostbite are for outdoorsman or homeless people.
      Russia also has cases of frostbite at -15, its just a matter of time, not toughness.

    It took two consecutive winters where the temperatures dropped to negative forty-two to make me pack my stuff and go back to Europe . The cold is not as big of a problem as the dramatic seasonal fluctuations the province is going through from winter to summer. When you have temperatures ranging from -30 to -45 in winter and during summer it can get as high as 39 degrees, it begs so many questions. I firmly believe that that is detrimental to your body, plus it's not a good quality of life.

    Nice video, thanks! I have a question, do they use salt for the road during Calgary winters? I heard they were using a mixture of sand and beet juice some years ago, but, maybe, that was just an experiment.
    My worries is for vehicles, since I had rusted undercarriage on my previous vehicle (even though not related to cold!)
    I'm gonna move from south Italy to Calgary for a while and I'm trying to get ready for this weather since I have no clue how to deal with it, so far!

    Muy teso lo que está sucediendo con el clima...pero yo sé que lo superarán sobradamente pues vuestra voluntad de lograr una mejor y segura situación de vida los hace muy fuertes...Mis mejores votos para todos a fin que superen estos momentos un poco difíciles. Los amo.

      I can. It is not that bad In my certainly biased opinion. You just got to dress for it. I think people are far better at taking refuge from the cold than from the heat. I dress in shorts and t-shirt in the heat and it feels like I am boiling alive at 25 Celsius. You can dress for extreme cold. Extreme heat not so much. And I don't mean to say above 25 Celsius is extreme heat, but I still can't stand it. +50? No thanks. I will take -50 any-day.

    Like I remember this day, it wasn't that long ago. Maybe it's just weird seeing it from a different perspective
    Idk lol, cool video though

    I am appalled that poor planning in Calgary makes taking the LRT a chore with very negative consequences! I welcome everyone to check Edmonton’s planning of their system! Calgary’s planning fell into the wrong hands! Where are the many tunnels and shelters that make passengers welcome?

      Your comment is misleading. Calgary LRT has far more range despite the recently opened Valley Line in Edmonton. Edmonton LRT was a complete joke before the Valley Line and still lacks range.

      Different part of Canada surely have different climate, but overall, but by all means,January and February are the coldest anywhere in Canada, bring all things that can provide warmth. Coats , gloves, boots for snow ground, scarf that covered your neck.Warmest cities relatively are all in BC in Canada such as Victoria and Vancouver
