color analysis is just physics applied to fashion, how light reflects off the colors around you and interacts with the pigments on the skin, and it definitely works for all skin tones if you get analysed by a serious professional. in my opinion though it doesn't have to be a locked box, but more of a guideline for making more conscious choices and saving time and money

That’s how I would use it. Make targeted purchases and save money on wrong purchases. For instance, I have a black North Face coat and I think I’m actually a summer.
I honestly think that people who are somewhat artistic like you, usually already subconciously know what colours suit them. Like you've already picked a closet full of things that you like and that look good on you. Colour analysis is probably really helpful when you don't have an eye for what looks good on you, same with things like getting styled by a professional or getting a hairdresser who can give you the perfect haircut for your face.

True, but I think it keeps you away from the impulse buy (her pink/coral shirt) that you get and then realize you never wear, but aren't sure why when it's because when you put it on you just know it doesn't work for you.
Yeah totally. And lighting matters, too! I’m not going to get it done and I’m not going to try to figure it out. I’m going to just try stuff on and if it doesn’t look good then I won’t buy it. Simple.

May I suggest dyeing the clothes when possible, I feel that people forget that you can change the colour of the items you already own :)

I haven’t dyed anything yet, but I’ve heard that you have to consider how the original color will “mix” with the dye color - many bright or saturated colors won’t easily dye, and the fabrics turn out a somewhat muddy new color. That might only be a satisfying result for certain seasons.
I totally agree! I have had huge success dyeing things- a much more sustainable option!
Absolutely. I had colour analysis in March and I’m soft autumn. I have a few white garments and have already dyed 2 pieces sandy beige and also going to colour a white top with natural dye using avacado stones which creates a peachy colour 🙂
Color analysis is just color theory, as in what you learn in art class. It's why it works with all skin tones, not just white people. But, just like how artwork is subjective because it's based on personal preferences and how the individual perceives colors, imagery, etc, so is color analysis. Or in other words, definitely no need to throw out your favorite comfy grey clothing or silver jewelry just because it isn't considered to be in your color palette :)
True, but the way they categorize colors to seasons is fairly limiting. So I mean if you don't get the analysis done by professionals, and they'll just look into the chart that says stuff like blue eyes, pale skin and dark hair are characteristics of winter. It's also excluding anyone with grey hair, or anyone whose eye and hair color just don't match with the categories (since there need to be specific combos, and not all eye colors are so clearly distinct).
@@elainelouve I feel like you maybe didn't quite catch my meaning, since color theory isn't something that limits anything, and the examples you described easily can be matched in color analysis because it has to do with the properties of how colors work, how we see colors on a technical and scientific level, and not some arbitrarily created categories that exclude some color combinations. For example, when they are checking someone's skin/face, and hair against the different colors it's possible to see the undertones a person naturally has. Undertones (the tone in skin and hair that sits under the surface) aren't visible or discernible on their own, but basically mean is the skin and hair cool or warm in color. We can tell if the skin is cool or warm through contrast with colors that we see as either cool or warm. Almost every color, be it grey, white, yellow, purple, red, etc has an undertone to it like our our skin and hair. People's skin and hair will share the same undertones be it warm or cool. So for example there are warm greys and cool greys. There are warm pinks, and cool pinks. etc. All colors fall into one category or the other. That is objectively true, and what the seasons are based off of. Again, the seasons aren't an arbitrary categorization of people's looks, but how we as humans perceive color on a technical/scientific level. It's a way of visually organizing colors so that science is clearer. What is subjective is what combinations we think look good together or enjoy. Color theory is a pretty complex topic, and impossible to really delve into in a UA-cam comment of any reasonable length but I hope that makes more sense than it did in the first comment I posted/helps better explain what I was originally trying to say. :)

I had my colours done in person (I wouldn’t do it online because of camera and lighting influencing the results). The best thing about it was being able to confidently leave a lot of items “on the rack” in the shop based on colour alone. Made shopping a lot easier.
Christ, do people claim to be able to do this online? Avoid them, they understand nothing about color.
I think it should be phrased differently because while wearing your colours gives you a certain look, it isn’t necessarily what every individual wants to look like all the time. I think it should be phrased more like “if you want to accentuate your warmer tones, wear these colours, but if you want to look stark and pale, wear these other colours.” I have a very warm skin tone which means pure black and white wouldn’t be in my season, but a lot of my favourite photos of myself are when I’m wearing black or white. That’s because I enjoy looking stark and pale. It’s useful to know what would make me look “glowy” on a day when that’s what I’m going for, but in my opinion it’s not about looking “your best” it’s just about looking a certain way
THANK YOU this is phrased way better than what I've been trying to lol but YES they keep using words like "you look bad/better/washed out/tired/more beautiful" when talking about color combos and I don't think that makes sense. People's aesthetics are different, and even the general society's concept of beauty will evolve so for me these terms don't make any sense! These analysis are not effective tools because people don't know how to use them, only that one set of colors was deemed "right" for them. But when the style changes, when they realise they like to see themselves in another light, or that they want to incorporate a specific colour into their outfits, or change the pallet in any way, they'll be just as lost. It's an unnecessarily restrictive and at the same time generalistic model
Thank you for leaving this comment - it explains a concern I've had but been unable to word properly about this whole process. I like the idea of using colour as a tool rather than having a set prescribed way of looking that is 'right'.
YES! This is the reason why I wouldnt lose my money on this type of analysis. I dont think they even consider any kind of non traditional style. For example, I dress kinda goth cause I like it! I wear almost entirely just black and I get a lot of compliments on it because Its MY style and Im so happy when I wear it.
This kind of analysis doesnt contemplate any kind of personality and even tho is presented as a guide and not as rules, I've seen way too many people being unsure of their own likes and letting go their own self expressions in favor of their season colors.
I think that might be a matter of gauging your seasonal analysis AND tonal direction THEN your essence - some people who are high contrast look great when they play up that contrast (e.g. skin as pale as possible & hair as dark as possible) but low contrast folk who like the ethereal essence may wish to play up a lighter look overall (e.g. pale skin & hair).
TOTALLY! as an overgrown emo kid i enjoy wearing black and looking pale and stark, but i don't think a colour analysis would agree lol
They tell dark autumns to not wear gray, yet when I wear dark gray or dark blue gray I get TONS of compliments. I get told not to wear black but I also get tons of compliments if I pair it with gold or dark red. The combinations are also part of the theory, we don’t need to fully exclude things all the time. It’s about contrast, saturation, shade, and style. Have fun with it, play around with different looks. Life is short ❤
if you are autumn, you might get compliments with grey simply because it is a muted colour, and autumn falls in the low intensity half of the season wheel. But it's not flattering to warm undertones and autumns do better with the correct colours in their palette like oyster, camels, rust etc. It's always a matter of comparison, i.e. something might just be ok, but which is better?

Maybe you get compliments because contrast do you good, if you are Dramatic or Classic Dramatic of Flamboyant Gamine etc. among Kibbe types.
Like I'm FG, and as a Light Summer I shouldn't be wearing black and white stripes, but I just look really well in those thanks to Kibbe type. Of course my complexion doesn't look ideal, but overall impression is possitive.
I feel like it's that sometimes if you go somewhat against your type it will give a beautiful contrast. And my personal believw is that most people still look good in black, even if it's not the best colourchoice it will work almost universally
dark autumn are close to deep winter so we can mix and match our colours without being too clashing, red hair looks fine on me and i got the best compliment on wearing teal hair but my natural ashy brown suits me the best

@@hbarlaam Dark Autumns can wear cornflower blue & also petrol teal. There is no blanket ban on any colour for any season (except black) - just particular shades in a colour.
@@JBUHJBUH I know dark autumns get blues. I'm simply saying that to me, on my screen, this particular blue does not look like it harmonizes with the dark autumn palette.

My mom had me get my colors done when I was a young teen. It was great as it ended a lot of our shopping issues. Turns out we had very different seasons and finally understood why I gravitated to certain colors and was always turning down or not wearing her choices and gifts. Very helpfu. For me, overall it was really helpful, especially as I was so young.
as a color consultant working with natural harmonies I'M SO GLAD they did not categorize you as a winter. dark autumn colours really suit you! my only question is: how the hell did they end up recommending wheat flower blue in the autumn palette? warm colours should always include yellow and this shade of blue lacks any yellow, it's a tipic summer shade. I'm not saying you can't wear it, but it's definitely not an autumn colour. also, good point on not recommending anyone to do online colour analysis - I'd say in fact avoid any consultant that does online analysis, it is completely unreliable because of the random factors you mentioned. professionals that do not understand this probably have a lack of understanding of the physics of colours, light, skin tones and how cameras work, so people should not trust them with this process.
also, I 100% agree with you that colour analysis should be taken as a guideline and not a strict set of rules. there are so many ways we can relate to clothes, colour is just one of them. and any consultant who says you should AVOID a colour doesn't really understand the complexity of the topic. I agree that dark browns are way more interesting on dark autumns than greys but I have a rule that I like my clients to follow if they want to wear something off their palette - e.g. if your colours are deep&warm&soft just take 2 of these characteristics e.g. deep&soft and the colour will work quite OK. it will not be your absolute best, but it won't be horrible either.
don't get the recommendation for this blue either. Also, why should anyone type her as summer instead of dark autumn? that almost the complete opposite. As you said winter would be the next best thing and still not quite right.
She mentioned that they analysed her being one step away from winter. If you don't fit into one category completely, you can easily incorporate colors from other palettes that are close.
In my case I'm a deep/dark autumn, but also with one foot into deep/dark winter and ever so slightly into true autumn. And for me, yellows only work when they are on the reddish side or when they are mixed into a colder color, resulting in slightly muted colors. Like golden yellow is an ok, but lemon yellow is a nonono. A dark wine red is an absolute yes, a carmine is great combined with black, a vermillion is terrible. A cornflower blue is a no go, a turquoise blue only when it's darker, a turquoise green on the other side is always a fit. A midnight blue is great, but a prussian blue (same color just lighter and clearer shade) does me no good. And so on.
I understand that mid blue is a 'universal colour' and I think she looks amazing in it. Makes her skin look really clear.

I am still very conflicted about mine! I am also a dark autumn - but my personal taste always makes me gravitate towards desaturated mauve colours in my make up - and I love wearing black and white. I can definitely see that I look “more awake” and healthier in my palette but the hearts wants what it wants! In a way sometimes I wish I haven’t done it because it made almost too aware of the clash between my taste and what suits me best 😅
That's what I'm worried about haha, my fav palettes are the autumn and spring palettes and it seems like I might be spring so I can live with that but I loveeee autumnal colours and I'm worried they'll tell me they look terrible on me 😂
@@LemonSte that’s definitely something to consider! I’m beginning to believe (albeit slowly) that at the end of the day it’s just a tool - not more and not less. But I must say it is a journey. So proceed with caution 😉 and ps I’m sure you look great in the autumn tones!
@@HaloofFrizz you can always put the colours you are craving a bit further away from your face. that could even mean keeping wearing what you already have but putting a small scarf/bandana or a larger necklace or so in between - getting the benefit of the colour that wakes you up, but still wearing the things you love.
plus... these 'updates' cost less, scarves and necklaces are super easy to thrift.
@@LemonSte I heard, that if you get your undertone right you will never look worse than good. :) So it doesn't make a drastic change in your appearance, if you switch back and forth between spring and autumn.
But one of both will probably harmonize more with your individual features and will therefore make you (probably) look even better than good.
Especially(!), if you wear said color near your face.
I'll always defend that your personal preferences take precedent over whatever colour diagnosis someone else may have for you. If you like them and are confident in them then they'll look wonderful, and compensate for whatever benefits exactly matching what colours the consultant sent you might have. Like Marysia said, it's a tool, and only one of many to use when choosing your style; it's not definitive, it's just a shortcut that's become popular nowadays. Trust your own mind and your own judgement, and take the seasons as a suggestion for those times when you don't want to think too hard about what to choose.
Also, I promise the difference they make is miniscule to whoever's watching from the outside, nobody's gonna recognise that you're wearing the "wrong" season lol
It looks like the room where they did the analysis, though, was not the best space. You should be in as much natural light as possible (preferably facing a large, sunny window) so you get a truer sense of your coloring. Being inside in a room that's mainly lit by lightbulbs impacts results depending on the Kelvin temperature of the lightbulbs and how diffused the light is. The lower the Kelvin, the warmer the room tones (casting a yellowish hue onto everything); and the higher the temperature on the Kelvin scale, the cooler the room tones (casting a blueish hue onto everything).
This is the first color analysis video I’ve seen that I thought the professional did a really good job, and I thought your breakdown was thorough and thoughtful. I really thought the dark autumn colors look amazing on you. (Interestingly, I would have loved to see you wearing a super flattering dark autumn color in the video I see you questioned the blue shirt choice at the end, and your instinct was right BUT that being said, I think it’s a great example of you not letting the color analysis rule your life, so I totally respect the choice.)
I’m a clear spring and knowing what works for me def helped me save a lot of money! Obv I’m still a huge fan of black, and other colors that are not in my pallet like lilac, but now I know how to make them work better for my skintone etc. also, doing a CA gave me a lot of confidence in changing my hair, I went from blonde to copper and knowing it would suit me gave me the courage I needed, and now I love my hair!
I have had my colors done professionally and I'm an autumn. It was 20 years ago and it was the four system analysis. I feel I don't need it to be more specific than that. I just wear warm and muted colors. I'm so glad I did it because at that time I had started to wear a lot of black and people were always asking me if I'm sick, or is everything all right. Black is definetely not my color. Wearing my colors makes me look healthy.

As for the why, I think I would really like to have that knowledge, so that I can choose to be more "striking" if I feel the need to (as you mentioned: professionally or for a specific event...). I find more and more power in being able to control my image in situations where I feel nervous or that I know will not be easy !
This is all so interesting; I first got my color analysis done in high school (2005!!!) in my sewing class so we could buy fabric to make stuff with that would better suite our skin tones. It's wild to me that this has become the trend of the moment since it's been around for so long!

I’m getting a colour analysis done in July. Like you, I intend to use what I learn about my season as a set of guidelines. I fully intend to keep wearing things in my wardrobe that may not be the most ideal for my complexion but that I love.

Super interesting! A few years ago I worked with a stylist in exchange for some social media work for her and she told me my colour palette was spring. It really did change the way I shopped, and made it so much easier. She also told me to not wear black and while I followed it strictly in the beginning I did eventually incorporate some black into my wardrobe because I lvoe wearing it. So yeah, I think it’s a great thing to do to save you money and be more responsible but you should also take it with a grain of salt and not let it limit you 😊

I keep thinking about colour analysis. I saw Hannah’s video, and while she was happy, I also love colours too much. I’ve also realised that I prefer to dress for fun as opposed to make myself look the best, and so I think having to stick to a colour scheme would add boredom exclusively.
That's a good point. I think as long as a person is aware of the "effect" a colour or a piece of clothing creates there's no problem. I personally don't like wearing black because I know it makes me look like a vampire, but what if someone knows that and they just don't care? (I myself still wear it many times as well)
I went to a Colour Me Beautiful consultant recently & for my fee, received a wallet containing swatches of all the colours in my sub-season. Better than a PDF for me. I went to be analysed many, many years ago when there were just the 4 seasons but my skin tone has changed as has my hair colour so needed an update. I'm now soft & muted! It's a truly transformative experience so you know you look good!
Aghhh that’s my fave season! 😍 And I know for SURE it’s not *my* season … but, I’m always buying clothes in those colours. I self-diagnosed myself using an in-depth online quiz, but waiting on a professional analysis to see if I’m right lol. Loveddd this!

If you like the colors just wear them, no need to confirm with a specialist lol. Having confidence in your clothes compensates for any tiny difference the hue or depth or whatever would make, trust me. Especially since they can, as the sisters put it, misdiagnose you; and then you'd be insecure about them for no reason

I personally feel it is just understanding undertone and intensity (but I understand that analysing appearance has been so biased and negative historically) - I have really enjoyed seeing people of all shades get their colours done.
I feel like it's not a question of "dies colour analysis work" and more "is the money worth my lifestyle."
Like you say, depending on your job/how often you wear your own clothes, it may not be worthwhile. But if you care about that stuff, then maybe you value it high enough to do it.
Either way, I love watching people lean into colours that suit them that they may have never tried before ❤
I honestly notice the difference in my appearance when I wear colors that work for me. If I wear anything in deep jewel tones that are very pigmented, I have a glow and look bright and awake. When I wear beige and things that are neutral, I look sick and dull

I've just tried some online quizzes, which gives me soft/true autumn, which tracks with what I wear anyway (with the exception of pink.... I have yet to find a pink that looks nice on me). I wore no color for so long, as there are so many colors that look truly horrendous on me, but so long as I stick to warm and muted tones it works!

I did my colours last year as I was starting to curate a better (more sustainable) wardrobe and it’s helped me so much when I’m searching Vinted. When I am making a new purchase it really helps me make the best choice with my money as well.

Honestly, for my personal wardrobe I already have worked out a varied colour pallet I really like, so I think getting my colours done would either make me very unhappy or tell me things I knew already. I might consider it if I was changing career and wanted to make sure I was coming across well to other people - but in my life at the moment, feeling good in my cloths is the main thing that concerns me. I think having my colours done would have the potential to make me over-think something I'm otherwise very comfortable with.

Those colors (including that top) do look so lovely on you! So can totally understand why using them as a guideline could be nice and helpful. I think I was subtly introduced to this idea through Queer Eye - I feel like Tan sometimes says things like "you look best in X" or "try to stay away from Y" based on your coloring. Based on just that casual watching and what characters I felt like I shared commonalities with, I have taken that feedback into my wardrobe! So would be interesting to see it validated/refuted by someone who is specifically looking at me.
My parents both had color analysis in the 80s and I got a mini session along side them as a young kid. It was really cool!

Yes, I love and believe in color analysis and am having my colors done next week on June 30th in person by a Sci/Art specialist and am very excited. I love Sci/Art and cannot wait to see if the result is based on what I have determined for myself.
Omg I don’t even think this is nonsense because before you told us your results I thought the darker browns and autumny colours looked best on you when she was putting the materials on your chest!!
Thank you for looking into the skin colour issue. I first heard about this from Hannah's video and that was one of my concerns from her analysis.
I think it's a really interesting concept, but I'm not sure if I could personally justify spending that much money on it. If I was going to push the boat out, I might be more tempted to go for a personal stylist instead who could also advise on other things.
Also, get a print out of your colours if you can. Digital colours vary quite a lot depending on your device, screen brightness, contrast, etc. Try playing around with the settings on a computer monitor or moving something colourful between two different screens and you'll see what I mean.

nothing is "forbidden", it's just a fact that it's a case of what looks better than something else. Why would you not choose the colours that make you look better. It's one of the easiest ways to improve your appearance and it's stops you being a slave to trends and wastage.
you can do it by your own. You see by yourself what looks good on you. And there are different days.
In the 80th we experienced with lot of colors because time before was grey, black, brown. That wasn’t enough for our yearning for more feeling easier, lighter, natural.

I self-diagnosed myself using an early color analysis book. Many years later I had a color analysis done which confirmed that I was a summer (cool summer). No black for me! Once I paid attention I could see that black - particularly near my face - really washed me out and made me look sick. I think that knowing your colors helps you create a wardrobe where the pieces work with each other, so it makes dressing easier. It definitely helps with shopping because you can eliminate lots of items immediately, saving time and money (hopefully!).

I have a friend who's trained in colour analysis and does it as a hobby. It's such a great Hen party activity or even just a fun night with friends. She always ends every session with 'but to be honest, just wear what you want.' Overall i think it's just a fun time!
Lucy, the raspberry top might be your romantic colour, which is the pinkiest shade in your skin. I think it suits you!

I haven't had my colors professionally done since I'm cheap and also have no idea who does this in my area, but I'm now inspired to look into it. From what I could gather online, I am a Dark Winter leaning neutral like yourself, and I'm fairly sure I'm right because when I saw the palette it struck me immediately how those are the colors of some of my favorite pieces of clothing and now I know why that is! (of course I also have clothes that I love that aren't in that palette, but there are other reasons for it, like the fit or the fabric).
I absolutely took this analysis into account when choosing hair dye colors, when I wanted red I chose a cooler and brighter shade, and I'm now wearing it violet with great success :)
Also: nail polish. I find that colors that don't suit me wear me out fast, whereas colors that do suit me bring me joy for much longer.
The channel Colour Analysis Studio have really good videos on determining the colour palette, you can train your eye when they service their clients (they also have a white studio and natural light, so much better than the studio here. Sure you do not have the fabric swatches to help you, but I think you could learn enough to determine your type.
One thing to consider. When you shop the light in the shops and boutiques is normally awful. Flurescent lighting etc. Being sure what colors suit you - you can go to a place with natural light in the shop and see if you still want to pick up the garment.

I actually did color analysis in the 80s “Color Me Beautiful”. I learned so much from it but never saw it as a service. I pretty much would look at all my friends and tell them what they are. Lol. I will say it’s come a very long way, we didn’t have 3 levels of seasons. I’m a true autumn and every color on your wheel I wear, don’t care if it’s dark or light. I don’t know too many people who can rawk olive green like I do!!!
I’m a little late commenting just watched your vlog. I bought the Color Me Beautiful book back in the 80’s. At the time I had natural dark auburn hair and was considered an autumn. The colors recommended were the ones I usually wore. Probably because I received most compliments in those colors. Now I’m 80+ and I’m silver grey so I wear winter colors. Again most compliments in those colors. I think we have a natural ability to choose colors that we love and that look good on us. Enjoyed your thoughts on the subject.
I knew seasonal color theory was legit when I found it because my whole life I always looked off whenever I wore orange despite really liking it as a color. I'm a winter with a demonstrably cool undertone. (luckily for me I generally like cool, vibrant colors the most)
While contrast is easy to gauge, black hair on white skin etc, people struggle to determine the ratio of warm to cool melanin in their own skin undertone. So I think getting it professionally done once is a good investment, when you think of the money you save not buying the wrong clothes (those wore once and never again clothes). I'm artistic and I know my colours, but finding them is another story, I have to run and do a bulk buy whenever they become fashionable.

I've been interested in color analysis for a few years now, but it's been on my back burner because I've moved and then had to declutter my closet so many times recently. But I have an appointment booked later this summer, and I'm so curious! I've just realized that there are a couple colors that I've naturally gravitated to and love wearing, but there's no variety in my clothes and I'm willing to get some guidance before I overwhelm myself, haha. The woman I'm going to is definitely on the expensive end, but part of the package includes bring in some items of clothes/jewelry/makeup to analyze and then getting a swatch book.
That coral shirt is something you could style as a complimentary, as it's just the right amount of warm and bright but very light.
I don’t know if it’s because I have a practical art degree, but I’ve always considered it quite easy to tell whether I “suit” colours. If I was to guess, I’d say that I’m either Spring or Autumn and I definitely have a few items of clothing in my wardrobe that I love but also clash a little with my colouring. If the pieces bring me enough joy then I’m happy to keep wearing them despite this.
Saying all that, I guess colour analysis is probably a very handy rulebook for people who are less aware of colour theory & it can help them to feel comfortable choosing clothing to make them feel great. I’ve also definitely fallen down UA-cam rabbit holes watching people get their colour analysis some & find it sort of fascinating. Definitely agree that in person appears to be the way to go.
I think a good number of people probably have an inkling of what their best colors are - there are colors that I hate and never wear, because I know they don't look great on me, so there's no way they'd be on my palette. As for temperature, I think makeup is a really good indicator, especially with foundation or lipstick.
yes and anyone who's been to art school and taught how to mix paints, knows that in your paint kit you were give black, white, and both a cool and warm version each of the primary colours red, yellow and blue.

it depends too much on where, what your hair colour is, make-up, if a shade/colour suits them or not
I've been color analyzed three times! Once just for myself, and the other two times just so friends wouldn't have to do it alone.
I'm a Bright Winter, and now I completely understand why warm nude and peach lipstick never looked good on me. I also understand why I would reach for clothing colors like bright red leaning cool, bright blues and greens, stark white and black, and even lemon yellow. I really saw that I looked my best in Bright Winter colors when I tried on a bright, blue based red lipstick, and it looked so right! Strong, bright, colors that lean cool look best on me, and I love my colors!
Of course, you can wear any color you like, but I'm honestly drawn to my own personal colors! It's like once you really see what looks best on you, whether it's clothing or makeup, you just can't go back to the colors that did nothing for you! I would highly recommend color analysis if you're someone who is looking to find your best colors and willing to wear them!😊

I had mine done in 16 season system and I realized I used those colors 10 years ago and then started buying the wrong colors. Now I wear the right ones again and the difference is huge! I get dressed so much faster now because I don't spend all morning changing my outfit.
I just got it done this week and I realised that because I changed my haircolour to red, I started buying warm colours to suit my hair. Apparently I'm a soft summer (summer/winter mix) and I'll change my hair 😂
I sit somewhere between true autumn and dark autumn (I like great in olive but also spectacular in forest green), but I also prefer to look dramatically over pale at all points so I tend to wear colours that draw it out. Plus now the added bonus of silvery hair in places that matches none of my skin tones lol

I do believe in this and the expertise from most people who do these, however I have also heard and do believe that the room you are in when doing these can affect the results, as such it should be daylight either from a window or artificial daylight and a neutral white colored room, however it seems the room you were in had a warm yellow-ish light and grey or blue walls, which I don’t think is optimal for these types of analysis🤔😊

I feel this analysis could really impact your sense of self / identity in a good or bad way. May be a bit of an extreme take but it could help you feel more yourself by dressing in ways that really suit you or it may make you question how you have presented yourself up to this point? But I'd find it super fun tbh

This is really interesting, cause a lot of people (like myself) are in between seasons. I for example suit colours that are right in between true summer and dark winter the best but there is no category for it on the 12 seasons colour analyses chart. However online I found deep, dark summer, which is perfect. If I were to go to an analyst however they couldn't give me this option since it's not "really" a category. This would have been window thrown out the window for me.
I thought a colour analysis would be way more expensive (eslecially in Mayfair) so I considered it out of reach. But £180 (whereas it is not little) is not too much. You just made me consider that a bit. Great video❤❤ always better to hear an opition of sb you trust :)

My attitude is that of course there's validity to color theory, but at the end of the day, we only have this one life, so wear whatever you want. Beauty is not the price we pay to exist in the world.

Does anyone have recommendations for a colour analysis in the UK focusing on east asian descent? I know these are supposed to support all skin colours but it's absolutely not true - all east asians generally have the same eye and hair colour (with slight variety), but we all look good in different colours as there are very subtle differences. These sessions are really popular in Korea but I'm not able to find these in the UK, thank you!
I’m sure the place Lucy went to could be a good option. All color analysis professionals should be focusing on analyzing the undertones of your skin tones.
The channel Colour Analysis Studio have really good videos on determining the colour palette, and that applies also to people from East Asia. Sure the skin is tanned, and eyes and hair are dark, but there can still be differences in the underlying pigmentation (giving a rosy or yellow undertone, that can be subtle) and these people of Asian descent will either look good in colors with a blueish hue or with a yellowish hue.
You can train your eye when they service their clients, slowly apply the fabric swatches and explain things (they also have a white studio and natural light, so much better than the studio here. Sure a person at home doesnot have the fabric swatches but I think one can learn enough only by watching several of their videos. I just watched a video of a young lady with rather dark skin and dark hair and eyes, they might have an analysis of an Asian person as well. They are in Melbourne.
But even if they have not yet a vidoa of an Asian or a person with grey hair .... the principles are the same no matter the pigmentation of skin, eyes, ....
I am theoretically a cold winter. But I also have strong facial features & I feel like the cold blues/ green/ reds that are usually associated with this type only make me look like the evil character of a bad soap opera 😂 I would actually invest in this type of analysis if it were able to recommend a colour palette that toned down/ softened my features instead
This is interesting though, but sometimes you naturally gravitate towards certain colours. So my wardrobe is mostly earthy and natural colours, and I don't really care if it suits my skin I will never be seen dead wearing pink or purple so I guess there's that to consider too 🤷🏼♀️
It's funny Lucy said she wasn't sure how different colors could suit different skin tones but like 2 brief videos previous when she had some brown trousers adjusted she said putting them on I can tell this is really "my" brown. The intuition was there lol
_Colour analysis is about colours you wear close to the face !_ Top, jackets, dresses, coats. If there is a larger neckline - so more skin is shown it is better, but if it is a turtleneck it better be a colour that suits you well. - Sometimes one can correct a jacket or coat with scarves or shirts (think a suit or costume or coat that you do not want to give up). Then the colour next to the face will be a good one, and couteract the rest of the top (which is not so ideal).
As for skirts and trousers - every colour goes, as long as it can be combined with a top from the right colour palette.
