It took five Temptations to make the hits.
@@deenell9039 Technically David chose to leave the Temptations and asked Dennis Edwards to fill in the Spotlight on Stage for him. Unfortunately same year as Edwards joined the Group David jumped up on Stage when Dennis was getting ready to sing my girl and took the mic out his hand then he jumped off Stage into the crowds he did for a number of Temptations shows until he begged Otis Williams to give him another chance after thinking it over he gave Ruffin one last shot. He was to Arrive in Gaithersburg Maryland for his come back show unfortunately Ruffin didn't show until the crowds lefted. Then Otis decided to keep Dennis and let David go.
Eddie was awesome!

U ca nt
OH YES
IT WAS HUGE HIT,AND RIGHTFULLY SO
My dad's favorite singing group....on here for my dad R.I.P ....HE LOVE LOVED THE TEMPTATIONS...i was just born when this came out
I like a lot of the Tempts songs, this song is my favorite. I had the privilege of seeing the Temptations perform many years ago. It was an outdoor concert and just as they came on stage, the sky opened up. And not a little; a torrential downpour. The audience that stayed was getting pummeled, but the show went on. As bad as we were getting it, Otis, Melvin, Richard, Dennis and Ron got it worse. But they did the show, non-stop, and ended with "Can't get Next to You". Great performers, huge talents, and total Pro's.
I actually sort of discovered this song from the version by Annie Lennox. Now I love this song and it's good to hear the original.
