I am old, but relatively new to sewing, having picked it up to sew masks for friends and family in 2020.
Instead of slip stitching the lining closed, I inserted Velcro and made the space between the lining and the bag into a secret compartment. xoxo from sunny Arizona.

Just finished my first bag. A few modifications, though. I am a conceal carrier so I made one of the inside side pockets into a carry pocket for my holster and gun. Worked out beautifully...next one will be even better ! Also, I added an outside pocket for my cell phone. Now, I am ready to design another one !

I just finished my first Baker Street bag. This is a great project. I added an exterior zipper pocket to mine.
That’s exactly what I decided to do, I did one instead of the slip pocket.
