Sarah is not only a great sewer but a wonderful teacher. Many, many thanks for all you give to us "bag ladies". You are an inspiration and thank you for all your time to teach us.
I'm so glad I found this video. I printed out the pattern, and I will try my hand at making a Hobo Bag. I will have to practice with some cotton or denim fabric first, though. Thank you, Sara.
Excellent video! I love that you showed making it on a home sewing machine. Not everyone wants to or can invest in a Industrial strength sewing machine and might be to intimidated to try. Perfect pattern for the beautiful Cork fabric I purchased from you that sews up so nice.
I’ve been wanting to try sewing on this type of leather. Love this video. Great teaching method. Easy to follow instructions for every level of seamstress
I keep coming back to this great video for all the detailed and clear lessons. :) Thanks again Sara! I'm loving learning with your fabulous instructions!!
Great tutorial! I remember downloading and watching this tutorial when I first started learning to sew. Back then, nothing made sense but after practicing, it all makes perfect sense and the tutorial was so thorough. Thank you!
My 3rd time making this bag . 1st in Leather , 2nd in denim and 3rd one made from a woollen scarf , using the tassels around the top of the bag ❤️❤️ Shame we can’t add pics of our versions ?
I do not have the leather, however I am using cork fabric, however, I did see your video on using the Juki machine. I see that machine in my future as my Viking does not like the heavy stacks I have been using. Thank-you for the great instructional video.
Love it Sarah, thanks. Now I know what to make with the Rose Gold fabric I just got from your shop. Loved your tips for the straps, fabric reinforcement for the snap & pocket placement alignment. Great bag & pattern!
Hi Sara. I would appreciate it if you could please add a tip as how to make and stitch the same rounded off shape of strap if it is made from fabric please. Many thanks.
Sara your lesson is so good and you make it seem so easy. Thank you so much!! It would be great, if one of your next projects was the Falabella tote bag of Stella McCartney!!!
What a great carry all bag - might have to make this one! Been eyeing the rose gold faux leather in your shop for some time. Thank you for this video tutorial to help us along.
Sara, thanks, thinking of making bag for a gift. Think I will sew strap on at the same time as the rectangle strap in sewn to sides. Will post a photo on FB when finished. Should be up med Nov 2020.
Thank you for another great tutorial! Can't wait to try making this bag!

Very beautiful! You explain very well and are super capricious! With the details of its excellent explanation, even those who do not understand the language do it quietly! Thank you for sharing and congratulations. A kiss from me, from Brazil! I used the translator😁😁
Great video. The tips on making the strap connectors and straps are priceless. I would never have thought of doing that and I've been disappointed in the ones I've made. Question...I notice you clipped the curves on the lining when attaching the side panel, but you didn't on the vinyl. Do you need to clip on the vinyl? So glad you're making these videos. I have the same machine and just love it.
Thanks for sharing your vídeo of making the hobo bag is there other says to make the hobo bag with different product beside a sewing machine if so can you please lost them for me its much appreciated. The bags are very nice how you did it an explaining the process
Hi Sara, new subscriber to your channel and new to sewing. Your videos are so helpful and easy to understand. I’d like to make this bag in micro suede and wonder if there are any changes to the instructions to accommodate for the fabric. Thanks much!
Terrific video! Does your Juki come with the Teflon foot? If not, would you please recommend and provide a link where to get it so that when it would come time to purchase this machine (through your link!) I'd know right where to get the Teflon foot.
I love this bag, and I am going to give it a try. When you use a magnetic snap on this bag, will it affect the magnetic strip on cards that you may be carrying on cards such as check card, gift cards, or credit cards?
Hi Sara. What would be the best type of lining fabric to use if my my outer fabric will be a medium weight upholstery fabric? Would you recommend quilting fabric? In that case, do they come in solid colours? Thank you.
Sara Lawson I saw your list but it still doesn’t say how much faux leather you need. I need to buy the rose gold somewhere else since you don’t have it right now. Thanks!
Sara, where did you get your Teflon foot for Juki? Thank You making this bag tomorrow love the rose gold so I a, doing the same, hope ya don't mind. Love your tutorials. Step by step you don't over explain or under explain just right for this beginner. Ohh got all my leathers yesterday from you sew excited.
OMG! Thank you SO MUCH for this! I ready to sew my first bag! Two questions: What material thread (polyester, cotton, etc) do you use and what kind of foam? I just bought Thermolam. Would that work???
Sara uses aurifil cotton thread in 40 weight, but you can use polyester too :) also she uses a sew in foam called soft and stable from byannie. The Thermolam will work except your bag will be a lot slouchier than it would be using the foam. Not a bad thing in a hobo bag, but if you want to bag to stand up by itself you'll want to use foam.
I'm a beginner at making bags and this tutorial was awesome, this will be my first bag attempt ☺. I recently subscribed to your site. I'm encouraged to make this for my vacation in August. Will you also show how to add a zipper closure for this, that would would be awesome as an option.
Hello Sarah qu’elles sont la longueur et largeur de point pour coudre le simili cuir, et quelles aiguilles utilisées vous? (what is the length and stitch width and which needles use ? )
Hi Sara, Could I make this from marine vinyl? Is so, would it still need the foam interfacing? Also because you have a double thickness of foam when joining the sides, is this too thick for a normal sewing machine.
Hi Sara, I'm new to your channel and new to making bags and wanted to try your free bogo bag pattern. I have a few questions. I looked at your shop and was wondering if one sheet (not sure the amount you get) of the faux leather, would it be enough to make the bag? Also for beginners would you recommend working with this fabric? It's a bit costly and you don't get much. So if you mess up...😱 Thanks
I am wanting to buy a sewing machine to make a leather purse and I was wondering if you would suggest whic brand as well as the accessories that I might nee. Thank you please email me if you would can't wait to make your pulse love it!
Excellent video! I love that you have started doing these. I have a quick question about the cork. How important is it to use the foam behind the cork? I ask because I'm wondering if I chose not to use the foam, perhaps it would "slouch" a bit more for a different look? Or is the foam needed to give the cork more strength? Thanks!
I love your channel. Where can I purchase your aero plane pattern, and cork fabric. Also where do you get your metal purse labels from. Have been searching everywhere for some
I asked Sara what she used and she said that it might have been Aurifil #2326 or Aurifil #2312 but she couldn't quite remember. Also we don't carry that rose gold faux leather anymore. The one we have now is different to the one Sara used on this bag.
Would you really quilt cork or vinyl? I noticed in your notes you said now is the time to quilt if you want to do it, but I wonder how would that look?
I’ve tried twice…the pattern for side gusset comes up at least an inch shorter than main body piece. I ended up adding some to the gusset to make it fit but curious if anyone else had this issue. I’ve printed at 100% and use the same printer for a dozen bag patterns, so I don’t think it’s my printer. The main pattern is 18.25” (half) and gusset pattern is 17.25” (half) what am I doing wrong??
Hello Again, sorry for sooo many questions 😩! I'm a quilter and very new to sewing any other crafts. In trying to broaden my crafting skills. I have a few other questions I would like to ask you but would like to ask you privately. Is there anyway I can email you directly? I signed up for you newsletter this morning but didn't see anywhere that says I could contact you. I would like to order somethings from your shop as well. Thanks a bunch Sara!!!
Hey Sara, Can I use a different interfacing instead of Woven ? Like ; Heat and bond fusible interfacing non-woven or Pellon fusible interfacing -ultra lightweight. I would appreciate any help. Thanks
Sarah is not only a great sewer but a wonderful teacher.

Hi Sara. I would appreciate it if you could please add a tip as how to make and stitch the same rounded off shape of strap if it is made from fabric please. Many thanks.

Thank you for a great pattern and video!
Sara your lesson is so good and you make it seem so easy. Thank you so much!! It would be great, if one of your next projects was the Falabella tote bag of Stella McCartney!!!

I've never had a problem in other bags with magnetic snaps.
@@bronwyncarr6714 Thanks, just wondering.

Hello Sarah qu’elles sont la longueur et largeur de point pour coudre le simili cuir, et quelles aiguilles utilisées vous?
(what is the length and stitch width and which needles use ? )
Thank you for the excellent teaching video! ❤️
I have this machine and love it! Can you put a link to the teflon foot for this machine?
Deb did you get a Teflon foot?? I’m interested in purchasing one too. 😍
Hi Sara, Could I make this from marine vinyl? Is so, would it still need the foam interfacing? Also because you have a double thickness of foam when joining the sides, is this too thick for a normal sewing machine.
What is your go to thread for vinyl and cork, does the thread need to be bonded?
Do you have any simple tote bag patterns? also, do you sell any leather in your shop. I'm a beginner at sewing.
Great tutorial, you have a new subscriber!
Hi Sara, I'm new to your channel and new to making bags and wanted to try your free bogo bag pattern. I have a few questions. Hi Sara, thanks a lot!!!!!
Beautiful and perfect 😍
Hi Sara!
These are simply beautiful. ~ What do you suggest for using Faux Leather in this construction?
Thank you 🌼
Ooops!!
Ok, my bad...just realized this is faux leather. Makes it even more beautiful.😀
I am wanting to buy a sewing machine to make a leather purse and I was wondering if you would suggest whic brand as well as the accessories that I might nee. Thank you please email me if you would can't wait to make your pulse love it!
What color thread did you use? I'd like to make this bag with this fabric.

Thank you for sharing the video I can’t weight to sew the hobo bag 💐
I would love to make this bag but I’m having trouble printing the pattern the black triangles are not printing and it is getting cut off
I love your channel. Where can I purchase your aero plane pattern, and cork fabric. Also where do you get your metal purse labels from. Have been searching everywhere for some
What size is this hobo bag and we're is the pattern you said we could get.
This is an amazing video. What type of needle were you using?
Sara generally uses a Microtex 90/14 needle
just find you great video how can i get this pattern please.
and what type of needle, which lenght and width, and stitch???
how would you add a zipper instead? its pretty. also what number machine needle did you use. also how many yards of both materials do you need. thanks
Check out "how to add a recessed zipper to any bag" ua-cam.com/video/ZWWSWH4EJBU/v-deo.html
Hi Sara. I went to your website to order the pattern and I can not find it. I like paper patterns and wanted to order it. Thanks.
Thanks
this would work great with a recessed zipper in it, for those who want a more solid top area
Did you use extra backing when using cork fabric since
it already has some sort of backing
I’m unable to print this pattern, please advise
I really love to make this but can you pls help me to note that how i download the paper mesurments
I tried with fabric first and I definitely checked the 1 inch square. Perfect. The gusset did not work. Over 1” short. Why?
A great tutorial. Thank you.
Could I use cotton fabric for this bag, I have a lot of fabric in cotton
Your website is out of the Rose Gold. When will you replenish your supply?
What is the color of the thread you are using with the rose gold leather? Thanks
I asked Sara what she used and she said that it might have been Aurifil #2326 or Aurifil #2312 but she couldn't quite remember. Also we don't carry that rose gold faux leather anymore. The one we have now is different to the one Sara used on this bag.

I tried with fabric and had the same issue with the gusset being too short. Did you figure out why? Or did you just make it longer?
Bien¡, hasta ahora la descubro
How could you convert this for a zipper closure I can't do snaps my stuff would just fall out
Thanks!!
This is stylish out smaller pouches inside !no?!!
Hello Again, sorry for sooo many questions 😩! I'm a quilter and very new to sewing any other crafts. In trying to broaden my crafting skills. If I use vinyl and want a firmer bag, what interfacing would you recommend? The foam seams to sag a bit.
Hey Sara, Can I use Decovil instead of Foam
Hey Sara, Can I use a different interfacing instead of Woven ? Like ; Heat and bond fusible interfacing non-woven or Pellon fusible interfacing -ultra lightweight. I would appreciate any help. Thanks
PATRICIA QUILES the interfacing she uses is medium weight so I guess you can use any medium weight interfacing.
Hi I can't find the actual pattern template to download in PDF>
very nice
please make vedio on stitching bagpack
Hi love your videos.. Just wondering what sewing machine are you using x thanks x
Sara Lawson. Thank you
