    Hi. I loved making this pattern. It’s so much easier when you have a video. I have always had problems making bags. I tend to follow by example and not by reading text so this video was a game changer for me, and will help me in future. Thanks again for the great pattern..

    Lovely, lovely, lovely. From a small pouch to a backpack, they are all beautiful! Thanks for sharing your patterns, videos and sewing tips. I have to confess, I have to fast forward when your sewing seams. Let’s face it, it’s pretty much self explanatory newbie or not. Just a reminder to back stitch start and finish would be enough after the seam is started and you cut away to the next step. Thanks again!

    Thank you Sara for this very detailed tutorial and the free. I am definitely going to try to make this bag and if it turns out I hope to be able to figure out how to send a picture of the completed. I have a couple of ideas for modifications on it. I love watching your Sunday night shows and I get a lot of good tips.

    Thank you Sara ! You are truly a professional who operates with a big heart 💜! I am a novice sewist , started with face masks in 2020 and got more interested as covid months got longer and longer.
    I am very interested in making bags , and this tutorial is exceptionally well done , all good tips and instructions! I am certainly going to make one .
    Thank you for your generosity with pattern and instructions we can print out 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻!
    I made your card slot ( I got your template ) for my Fanny pack. That was soooo good of you to show me how to do this. Now, my Fanny pack is one of a kind as I modified it to add the things I like .
    My family and extended family have requested it as birthday gifts for 2022. It feels so good that my skills are improving with help from youtubers like yourself. Please continue to produce your tutorials because you’re an excellent teacher , very detailed , great explanations, very professional.
    Have a great week and May God bless you abundantly!
    Greetings from Toronto.

    Thank you for such a detailed video and a FREE pattern! I made this bag today. I added a recessed zipper (my first time!) The bag was surprisingly not too complicated to put together. I did appreciate having a semi-industrial machine to go over all the cushy seams, though. I used fusible foam interfacing, and after birthing the bag, it looks very wrinkly :-( I think I will give sew-in interfacing a try next time. Other than that, I love this bag. It is adorable! I learned a lot from making it as well. Thank you, Sara. You're awesome!

    I just started on my first Oriole Bag today. I have some beautiful hand dyed fabric that has been gently aging in my stash for about 15 years. I bought the foam interfacing (which is new to me) and started assembly. When I sewed the darts on the main body my machine started skipping stitches. I have a new 90/14 needle but only have coats and clarks regular cotton wrapped poly thread. Are there any adjustments I need to make to thread tension or stitch length ? I have a 2year old Janome that sews everything I've tossed at it so far, but it's not liking the foam too much. Any suggestions?

    Because you attach the straps to the flap does this make the flap come open if you carry a lot in your purse? I know it wouldn't come open if using a twist lock but if using a magnetic close I was thinking weight might make the flap come open?

    Do you have to use foam in the pattern? Can you just use interfacing if you don’t have foam? I know the foam gives it that nice structure but just wondering.

    • @valeriegailnoland7151
      @valeriegailnoland7151 6 років тому +1

      I've usually had to use whatever I have on hand, mostly pickups from estate sales, and although the foam is nice and fleece is great, I sometimes have had to double up on the amount of interfacing or triple up depending on the heaviness of the interfacing. If you are worried about the multiple layers shifting, you can always quilt them together (the interfacing only) and together with added stiffness of the thread you'll be surprised by its strength and rigidity.
