Ah, i wondered when Orange would join the ranks of Torsolo and Gerald Williams in the remake. Like Caesar, Crassus and Magnus of our own world, they stand the test of time as AA's Triumvirate.
4:39:02 "I don't know if we can afford to have Orange anymore either..." Orange: "You can't do this to me. I started this colony. YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I'VE SACRIFICED???"
i mean, the guy was a bloodlusted cannibal living in isolation for years surviving off raw human meat (and feeling euphoric in doing so), even after getting married to a normal woman, for lack of a better phrase, he still got that dawg in em
Your Sea Ice series was what introduced me to RimWorld. The cartoony artstyle together with the gruesome things you did to raiders and colonists sold the game to me. An amazing and ruthless game that's hidden under the cute 2D sprites.
I love how once you got to the point of just constantly being raided, Orange's mood went from "pretty good, thriving" to "euphoric at all times, on account of the constant stream of murder victims, human meat, and human leather to wear"
Oh also, I know this is a very old playthrough, but one thing that's very valuable to know for solo type runs like this was for a very long time is you can farm medical skill by replacing prisoners' extremities with wooden parts and then repeatedly removing&re-attaching those parts, so long as you have wood and medicine to work with. Of course, in this particular run, that's very difficult due to the lack of medicine and wood, but in Orange's situation I would have heavily prioritized healroot and fibercorn simply to get that going. After all, a single injury, or god forbid an infection or even actual disease like malaria can outright end the whole run if your colonist is solo and forced to self-tend with poor medical skill. It's also worth harvesting some bloodbags just to keep them on hand for similar reasons, even if you have no vampires, because while a blood infusion can't be done solo, once you do get another one, it can really help with recovery, particularly if the pawn's kidneys have been damaged, or for that matter you can inject it into a prisoner after a botched surgery attempt to get them topped up again more quickly so you can try again without risking them dying from sheer bloodloss.
I don't think I can express how much i appreciate these videos. 5+ hours? Ugh beautiful. I often find myself yearning for a single video that can hold my attention for good instead of a bunch of 15-20 minute ones and these are absolutely amazing. You and Spiffing Brit are just awesome for it. So thanks!
I find it a little funny that the usual lack of floor means that, for no small amount of time, they've been doing all of this ontop of a floor of ice. The animals get it on, ontop of ice. They slept, ontop of ice. They put down heaters, ontop of ice. Tiny detail, but I find it funny

Accepting the rainy thunderstorm reminds me of my first colony. One of my starting colonists was pyromaniac, and became to good to lose. I had gotten a forced foggy rain before, and destroyed it.
