- Baldrick helps Blackadder rewrite the entire English dictionary before Doctor Johnson returns. They don't get very far. Great clip taken from the classic BBC comedy Blackadder.

"I love you, Doctor Johnson, and I want to have your babies."
*bro hug commences*
C is for the blue wobbely thing where memaids live.
iammontecristo hahahaha
"I know I said Monday but I want Baldrick to read it which unfortunately would mean teaching him to read. Which will take about ten years but time well spent I think because it's such a very good dictionary"
😂😂😂😂😂
"And your definition of dog is? Not a cat." Hilarious. 😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Well he is not wrong.😃
One of the wackier theories I came across in my study of linguistics was that semantic meaning was derived from a process of contrast: mentally comparing each concept with thousands, if not millions, of others and identifying it by dint of its dissimilarity to all those other concepts. Hence, a dog is recognised as a dog precisely because it isn't a cat - or a mouse, or a hippo, or a horse, or a pencil sharpener or an abattoir or a shower curtain or a crocus, etc etc etc. All of which subconscious mental processing is supposed to take place in a fraction of a second. In this respect, "not a cat" is a perfectly acceptable definition for "dog".
George: ...we're Brits!
Blackadder: You're not, you're German. Hilarious!
Also loved the reference to King Alfred's time "when you could chop someone's head off and blame it on Vikings"
TINY misunderstanding...
This is the funniest episode
This came out whilst I was doing my GCSE’s……still gives me revision nightmares
C "big blue wobbly thing that mermaids live in" hahahaha!
I seem to recall Rowan Atkinson on some programme saying he didn't like the dream scene. I can't think why. It's certainly unusual as scenes from Blackadder go, but I think it's clever.
the brits do more with less, no big car chases, no gun play, they have dialogue driven scenes, characters with some dimension, great.
not really sure why youd have any of these in a comedy, except maybe the Blues Brothers.
0:32 Baldrick is so happy with himself
0:36 to 0:54 one of the funniest moments in recorded comedy history
The reason why is Prince George (Prince Regent) German because his great-grandfather King George I was german. After Queen Anne died heirless, her nephew, George, who was born to dutch-english mother and german father in Hannover, became the King.
Beogradski Gejmer George II was also born in Germany and was German
This Is my Favorite series from Blackadder, this episode 2 is one of The Best but my Favorite episode in this series and of all Blackadder is Episode 6, Dual and Duality with Stephen Fry as The Duke of Wellington, years Ago when it was first on TV Dad taped it, we only had that episode and me and my brother endlessly Quoted it,
Mine too 😂😂😂
Just need the addition of “ Interfrastically” and it’s perfection.
One of the best scenes from the 3rd season.
Can't believe Hagrid wrote a dictionary!
It wasn't Hagrid, it's his grand-grandpa))
Robbie Coltrane
That's Valentin Zukovsky.
When three students make a course work the day before deadline.
_Who gave you permission to turn into an Alsation_
XD
Oh god it’s a dream isn’t?, it’s a bloody dream!, doctor Johnson doesn’t want us to burn his Dictionary at all!
Brilliant! 🤣🤣🤣
My hopes weren't high
Mr Bean
"your not your German" 😂
Almost, you're forgetting the apostrophe and e, otherwise, it's possessive. Your = belonging to you, you're = you are.
@@ciaranlittle38 That ain't in my dictionary. Or, your. Or, you're.
Kidding, of course.
2:22 i love you dr Johnson. And i want to have your babies. One of the best quotes in blackadder. Wonder how many takes that took without getting the giggles.
definition of a dog is :no a cat T_T haha
Dog- not a cat
Hahahahahah
Me when i am feeling annoyed: 0:51
*NOT A CAT*
FYI- king george IV wasnt german - his grandfather was.
Still makes him a German then
@@dukatelo No
Can anyone explain what the prince says at 0:59 to 1:05? I would guess that I might understand if I were British, but all I hear is nonsense. This confusion is compounded by Blackadder's reply.
"Let's jusr damn the fellow's eyes, strip the breeches from his backside and warm his heels to Putney Bridge, Hurrah!."
I can't help but notice, I've never seen men in so much lace! 🙄
that was the style at the time
За мене је интересантна она реченица, невезано за сам шоу. Не можеш само отцвикарити некоме главу и окривити Викинге за то. Викинзи су били Срби јер су носили на главама рогове, а и јелен и бик су свете србске животиње.
