  • The Rolling Stones
Brian Jones, a musical pioneer and versatile instrumentalist, served as a profound source of inspiration for The Rolling Stones during their formative years. His innovative spirit and diverse musical talents laid the groundwork for the band's early success. Jones notably introduced slide guitar to the British music scene and infused his deep passion for blues into the fabric of The Rolling Stones' sound at the outset. His contributions, particularly in the band's nascent stage, significantly enriched the singles that propelled The Rolling Stones to the summits of the pop charts. Beyond his musical prowess, Jones' distinct fashion sense and iconic hairstyle captivated audiences of all genders, influencing bands on both sides of the Atlantic.
Born Lewis Brian Hopkin Jones on February 28, 1942, at the Park Nursing Home in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, he hailed from a well-off, middle-class family. Jones received his education at a prestigious junior school and later secured a spot at a local grammar school, where he demonstrated exceptional academic performance. Despite his father's aspirations for him to pursue a university education and perhaps follow in his musical footsteps, Jones harbored an unwavering passion for music.
Brian's musical genius didn't extend to composing, yet his imprint is vividly present across numerous Stones recordings. His mastery shines through on tracks like "Let's Spend the Night , Not Fade Away and Under My Thumb."

I am one of the privileged few that new the late great superstar Brian Jones and that can call him a friend. Due to complexities beyond the scope of this limited format, I will state that his songwriting is often undermined for the simple reason that he is not credited for the songs he wrote, instead they are listed Jagger /Richards on the albums. Or Nanker Pledge or Jack Nietzke. From running neck and neck with the beatles ( over 30 #1 and top 10 hits, the Stones, about half that, all from in the late 60's as well) to the ensuing 45 years of the Stones being more of a top 40 charting band, something is amiss. Yes Jones wrote the words and music to most of the Stones classic hits. He wanted that known, and until I or someone else write a book with the details about it, all parties are asked to keep an open mind and use simple deductive reason as to the fact's. He got skewared for personal reasons, not musical. Band politics are important, it's not uncommon. Mick is a lousy solo musician if not as a singer, and did write some good songs as a Stone ( no #1's though), just enough to make it confusing. He charted poorly as a solo act. Keith, a great musician if not songwriter, did not have much luck charting in his solo projects either. Remember, McCartney kept on charting, and George and John had at least some success as to platinum albums and a few #1 or top ten hit's as solo act's. Mick and Keith didn't for some suspicious reason. Jagger/ Richards are merely good songwriters, not great at it like Brian Jones or the Beatles, who was and they were and are. These simple mathematical fact's can be misinterpreted, but not changed. His reported death is a complete fraud. Sorry, fans, storm clouds are on the horizon.

Throughout the last 6 decades, I have loved how the stones have always been able to adapt to whatever musical trends that were happening at the time. The mid sixties Lets spend the night together hit had a real Beach Boys feel to it. Then on their Satanic Majesties Request they tried their hand at the hippy dippy flower power psychedelia. After that brief departure, immediately revived their blues roots. After peaking in popularity with a series of hit albums from 68 to 74 with the hard rock blues based help from John Mayo sound with Mick Taylor.
In the mid 70s with the disco sound beginning to take off, their newest recruit Ron Wood helped them keep that hip Rod the bod Stewart 70s image. When Ronnie joined in 1974 they once again reinvented themselves and effortlessly moved into the 70s and embraced a disco feel of the decade with their first studio 54 dance tune "Hot Stuff", The following album "Some Girls" kept up with the times continuing to explore disco era with songs like "Miss You".
The 80s were perhaps their low point. Mick and Keith's infighting nearly drove the band apart. the dubious 80s techno sound can be herd on albums like dirty work. The 90s and new century saw the band once again reject the prevailing pop sound instead to become more, and more jaded and philosophical and introspective with albums like Bridges to Babylon, and a bigger bang.
All the while I'm sure Brian would have been thrilled to able to contribute some beautiful flourishes to Mick and Keith's eclectic creations, perhaps he might of even had found the self confidence to eventually have written his own music. All of this of course would have never happened unless he was able to eventually sober up.
The story of Brian Jones short life is so tragic, and unfortunately far too common.

Yes they burnt all traces of Brian, can you imagine a permanent exhibition of all Brian did and clothes today plus items someone did not want us certainly to see. then some how after he was murder they put a 75 years regarding his coffin could not be opened and all involved would then be dead and think they got away with killing Brian but they will be meeting the final judge who knows all, our heavenly farther. We all still miss you and wish those who know would speak out for who ever killed such a wonderful person with so much talent and I believe caring for all I believe he would not have hurt anyone.

I wonder why what’s happening to. The comment I replied to from a true friend of Brian Jones, who seemed to know more than they said about Brian, so please do something to get your information out to support your friend. It must have been important for you to say this or rather hint about writing the way you did
