If you watch the one from BBC channel you mostly get Sara Davies episodes. But if you watch it from Dragon's Den own channel you only get the old episodes.

I started my nursing career in aged care. I’ve seen the elderly trip and fall on furniture, and no nurse ever forgets the sound of an elderly person, or any person really, who’s skull hits the ground from a fall, **smack**, it’s gut wrenching. If I could invest in this product, I would, it will save lives in a number of ways, ie trip hazard, infection risks, etc. I wish you both all the best.

Everyone had become acquainted with the same gut wrenching sound when a policeman pushed over that unarmed elderly protestor and cracked his skull on the concrete pavement, causing his ears canals to bleed. You could hear the cringing sound of the skull cracking over the commotion from across the street.
I admire anyone nobly working in any age care facility. If we don't die prematurely or don't have family support, our last years are reliant on their expertise and quality care.
Sara Davies is fantastic. Breath of fresh air for the show
I can’t believe 3 dragons thought it would not be a profitable business. Peter asked ( where do you go when you’ve sold to all the care homes ) since it’s so well made. Peter was only thinking of the UK market. I live in Japan and worked for a company that has HUGE care homes. The type of care homes that charge thousands per month to have your loved ones in. This product would be so welcomed here. Not only in the care homes, these people here would buy 2 sets per person, one for the care homes and one for their private homes for when their elderly loved ones came to visit.
I doubt that very much, why would you put this in your home just for the rare times your elderly ones come to visit, it's ugly and unappealing, also that doesn't happen in the UK, once you're in a care home you don't 'go to visit' anywhere.
The Dragons tell them how great and realistic their low valuation is, before proceeding to gouge them for 2.5x and 3.5x what they were offering.
They know they have to basically build the business from the ground up . 75% of a business and have someone with links is a pretty good thing for basically a start up with zero sales .
To be honest, I would like to buy one for my home. They could make a lot of money in the U.S. the price needs to be adjusted though.

I agree, I think they could also make them for people who are living at home, both in the U.K. and internationally. The world has an ageing population and I think they do have quite a big potential market

I live in Japan, and have worked with one of the leading age care companies in the country. Sometimes the dragons only look at their local markets. Here, care for the elderly is a HUGE business, since we have the oldest population on the planet.

There was no bidding war. It was three dragons pulling a Jenny and were out, and two kinda crappy offers. 10k and 25% they values the business at 40k? Almost insulting.

the dragons are buying into a concept that hasn't even been fully proven on the market, theres no POs so far and no financial history showing that this item will sell
the dragon is going to have to do a whole lot of work to get the cost down and to find a manufacturer to produce the product, bring it to market etc.
The entrepreneurs knew what they were doing. They weren’t after a dragon’s money, but just their expertise and involvement.
I gaurantee if you were giving 10,000 of your own money to someone you didnt know for something that was a potential risk you wouldnt make a statement like that. Which explains why they are successful business people and youre commenting on youtube videos.

Great experience. It’s incredibly nerve wracking to pitch in front of those dragons. Sara is lovely and was a good choice. She is genuinely a caring person.

A very clever pitch. Low investment ask but in return gets priceless manufacturing and marketing expertise. Great foresight in taking that approach. One of the best pitches in terms of realism and restraint by owners and their respect for the abilities of the apex entrepreneurs in the Den.

Could this be attached to a regular modern chair and be used as a computer/tablet desk in small spaces like college dorms I wonder? The design could itself be used for other environments not just care homes.

I'm sure desks like this have been around for ages-I've seen variations on them at my uni and workplace. Pretty crap tbh. If you don't have enough weight on the tray or lean on it wrong, it falls back to the side. I'm not in the UK though.

I can see there could be quite a few upgrade-add on they could sell for this amazing care equipment. For starter, a telescopic/foldable tube to hang IV bags. Or a wireless “bell” kit that help the patients notify the care givers when they need help. So many things you can slap on to the base of this equipment

Very refreshing on the value of the 'idea', I have not seen all DDs but I gone through quite a few on UA-cam and I think that is about the most realistic valuation I have seen. (There was one on Australian Shark Tank who offered a stake in his business for a crate of beer and another wanted AUD10.) I think I would have tried to do a deal with both of the dragons who showed an interest.

This appears to be the same idea that I've used for years at training venues...a 'table' that swings up from the side of a chair. I'm not sure this a new idea.

You have absolutely nothing to lose by trying to negotiate a better deal
you could easily lose a dragon or they might see you unfavourably later on. definitely a lot to lose by asking for a better deal.
True, I think some dragons high ball them just to make sure they’re not suckers and actually have negotiating skill, which can be as valuable as any idea/product.
@J B Dragons nearly always go for a reasonable price, because they don't want the entrepreneur to back out or another investor to outdo them. That's capitalism.

Agree 10% is not enough equity to interest a dragon but why don’t they offer 25k for 25%. To not devalue the business. Or is that not allowed.
you could ask for £5000 for 50% of the company and they'd still ask for 75% lol. It literally doesnt matter what you ask for they will get another 20-30% out of you
