It’s kind of a shame we’re forced to come up with adjectives to separate Allen’s immense and incredible talent and skills. I’m hoping in the next couple years the narrative will morph into among the greatest ever. Sadly -and wrongly- Super Bowl championships always become an element in a game where 22 players are in on every play. Lay seasons MVP vote is a travesty. Lamar is undeniably talented, but he’ll never come close to Allen’s QB skills.
Bit hard to enter the greatest ever convo with no rings or mvps.
@@JdfkK-nl4vzyeah especially when they're giving away the award to charity cases like 2023 Lamar! Somehow Allen scoring 15 more tuddies and getting the 2 seed when dealing with way more injuries and adversity in the process is not worthy of consideration.
Well said
Lately, MVP seems to go to the QB of one of the 2 top seeds which really isn’t a fair metric league wide.
Look how long it was before Steve Young got a SB...it's not easy.@@JdfkK-nl4vz
❤❤❤ Never miss an episode. Hope you and the family are doing well Joe.
Joe, you have the best Bills commentary on the net !!!!
I cannot wait until mini camp starts
Always deliver Joe! Thanks .
Thank you for adding Al BeMiller to your Mt. Rushmore grouping. He was a major part of our 60’s teams, playing all three positions before settling in at Center. I had a chance to have a lengthy discussion with him at a Bills charity event, gushing about his career with the team. Wonderful man and still appreciative of the Buffalo support!
The dpi conversation makes you think maybe Josh Allen’s interception “luck” wasn’t actually luck but rather his receivers didn’t fight for balls and let him down 🤷♂️
Big part of it!
@@LockedOnBillsdiggs was constantly making “business decisions” and pulling in alligator arms
@@mongoosemcmongoose2786except that Allen went into his second year leading the league in turnovers = Diggs wasn't even there. In fact, MANY of his thrown interceptions, DIDN'T EVEN TARGET Diggs.
Allen WASN'T "good" when Diggs wasn't on the Bills; when he became a Bill, Allen looked better and had better stats. Diggs is gone, YOU WILL SEE A REGRESSION towards preDiggs Allen (just like last season when they refused to use Diggs). Allen doesn't know how to develop an NFL WR; with the DBs in the AFC EAST, that rookie will have time and Allen can't help him.
Don't blame Diggs because that's the current bandwagon; if not for Diggs, Allen might not even still be on the Bills.
@@damedan9389 this is a horrible take.
anybody with a brain can tell you that allen is an elite qb with or without diggs.
did diggs help him grow? yep
did allen help diggs grow? yep
please stop.
@@mongoosemcmongoose2786 "anyone with a brain" huh? Here I am, thinking that "anyone with a brain" would use REALITY as the basis for any stance. But you're telling me that "anyone with a brain" should forget how horrid Allen was pre Diggs, juxtaposed to how much better he was circa Diggs? "Anyone with a brain" should also forget last season when Diggs wasn't the focus and just how mediocre Allen and the offense played? Even though, there's no REALITY BASED EVIDENCE of Allen playing a full season without Diggs except the one he already did. The one where he lead the league in turnovers and posted a 5-11 record.
I'm supposed to allow someone, who ONLY uses his brain to run free on Imagination Land, tell me what "anyone with a brain" would do? Nahhhhh, I'm good over here, using my brain looking at REALITY.
Bills gonna win the super bowl this year I’m feeling it🔥
on a realistic note i think we well be competetive but 2025 ia the real shot well have. from cap space and draft capital well be loaded to stack this team more than it already is. i just think this year we have too many new guys learning the ropes. those little mistakes will cost us this yesr.
@@christianvalone378 You're not wrong. The talent on the team is good enough to win it all. Consistent coaching and health are the biggest factors. Talent is not the problem.
@@christianvalone378 bills got it. Better roster this year.
It’s going to happen! 🏆
might* cost us this year. @@christianvalone378
Thanks Joe - really appreciate how you keep our Bills an interesting topic not just in the regular season, but throughout the off season.
Lol Beemiller was a substitute gym teacher of mine in HS. Never missed a day in HS either....R.I.P. Big Al💯💯💯
Thank you, Joe. We definitely need more national awareness of our enigma QB! Go Bills!
this was an awesome pod from start to finish. thanks joe!
Watch every day. Thanks.
The answer is yes. There have been and are better running threats. But no one has ever been as good of a passer as allen and been a better running threat than he is.
I’m interested in the Sean McDermott podcast. The guy has been incredible for the culture, he coaches players up from nothing as well as anyone I’ve seen, and he consistently has the Bills defense ranked in the top 10 every year during the regular season. But his defense has also forced an abysmal 6 punts in Buffalo’s last 4 playoff losses combined so what’s it all for? I wonder if it has something to do with his scheme. Maybe it just doesn’t transition well to late season football? Also in those close, high scoring, shootout type games, it feels like every opponent drive results in a touchdown or buzzer beater field goal late in the game. I feel like I don’t ever see Buffalo’s defense adjust and improve in the 4th quarter. If I see they’re getting ran through in the 3rd, then I automatically assume the Bills will lose the game because I have no faith that the defense will make any plays in the 4th. I also don’t like McDermott’s attitude toward the offensive side of the ball. Sometimes he acts like the defense is the only thing he needs to focus on and blames offensive players and coaches if the offense plays poorly. But as the HEAD coach, he needs to be heavily involved with all facets of the game. If you can prove me wrong Joe, I’d feel much better about McDermott as a coach!
The team that lost to the Bengals in the playoffs was an emotionally spent team. After Damar went down they were lucky to win a game. They weren't right. I get it, it's the coaches job to get them right but it was just too much to overcome and they played like it.
I am sick of how even rabid fans of the Bills go along with the received narrative that Allen is second to Mahomes as the greatest QBs on the NFL when he is the best QB in the league. He can do everything that Mahomes does and he’s bigger, stronger, faster. Yeah, Mahomes has SB rings, but that is a team stat. In his secret heart, even Andy Reid would prefer Allen over Mahomes.
Mahomes is head & shoulders above Allen,he is grear, not elite.
They are all scared of the truth, Josh get the most hate in the NFL. We all know why, it's racism, Just say it. Josh is the first white dude to have such a dangerous story. They are really the Righteous Villains.
@@davidsoria7701how is mahomes better? Allen has 20 more tds over the last 4 seasons. Name one way mahomes is a better QB? Are the chiefs the better team? Yes that is obvious.
@@davidsoria7701 are you a blind fan or do you take the evidence of your eyes &!stats into consideration?
Firmly!
Yes. This. Agreed.
Good Morning Joe. Joe I am curious How long before the Texans Dolphins Jets and the Jaguars get into cap hell?
After talking about penalties it made me think of an interesting stat I heard about interceptions overturned by penalties. I want to know what things would look like if over the last 4 years those weren’t overturned…Mahomes would be known as a turnover machine!
Not Steve young in the passing game
YES
Stevenson was both a wrestler and a rassler.
god josh allen is so good every lazy narrative is so ridiculous just destroys every advanced metric and is going to break every record in the NFL
Fran Tarkington should be the number one. The reason he isn’t is most of his rushing yards were behind the line running away from lineman trying to tackle him.
Allen is much better through this point in his career and will dwarf his numbers by the end of his career though.
Lol! I loved watching Tarkenton scramble as a kid, and was rooting for him and the Vikings to win the Superbowl. Didn't happen, but he was great. Still, give me Allen any day of the week!!!!
Jim Ritcher is pronounced richer...
Hope that's an old picture of Gable, because he's going to need more muscle than that
I’d still say that Steve Young has the edge because he has the hardware , the MVP’s, the SB MVP’s, the first team All Pro’s… etc, etc, etc…
His accolades and awards and rings put him in a tier of his own for dual threat QB’s.
Now Young couldn’t run the ball as well as Allen… not even close, but he was a superior passer and decision maker.
All of these other guys be it Lamar, Newton Cunningham, Vick… those guys aren’t/weren’t great passers.. so Allen is obviously better than them.
He isn’t on Steve Young’s level though. It’s not close.
Interesting that Mahomes wasn’t mentioned, like at all.
Why would he be? If this was for greatest QB ever then that would make sense but Pat has 12 rushing TDs for his career. His mobile but I stop short of calling him dual-threat.
@@LockedOnBillsI don't think I've ever seen mahomes on a designed run play ever.
Allen may go down as the biggest wasted talent..in NFL..history
Okay 😂😂
Yes he is... and sean McClappy is wasting his best years ... hes our tony dungy
Still find it hilarious Jackson has 2 mvps and Allen has none. Voters are brain dead
I think it's hard to hold Allen over anyone that is close BUT has won championships??
To say that Josh is the reason the Bills haven't won a Super Bowl is nonsensical.
@@markmurphy558
Not really… half of the postseason games he’s been in… he’s posted a QBR below 60.
@@markmurphy558I wouldn't say that and certainly didn't. I'm sorry but Superbowl victories are huge when it comes to judging quarterback "greatness". It's the cherry atop the sunday.
@@mazzvidzI would dispute your numbers
Go to statuses. I'd bet less than 15% were "less than 60". Again rating of 100 and his td:int is fantastic.
@@mazzvidzYour numbers are wrong. 2 games 69.8 % 68. 4 games over 121 and one of 157.6!!!
Doesnt joe marino kinda look like a husky josh allen im not saying that to be mean hes just like a chubbier josh allen
Nope
Timing of this pod is very peculiar but I’m here for it 🫡
