I know this may sound crazy. But Milano getting hurt is the one starter we can actually afford to go 10 weeks without. Williams was a 3rd round pick, Dion Jones is a great depth piece. Last year Williams was raw and Bernard got hurt in the playoffs. We are in better position now to replace Milano than last year by a mile. All these injuries recently make me wonder what is going on with these guys' training and nutrition.
Milano had most of last year off, while recovering from his leg injury. Certainly he was still training and going through PT, but a bicep tendon rupture usually happens due to accumulation of fatigue and/or lack of recovery... I'm hoping these guys are getting enough/the right kind of food in along with proper stretching and mobility work. I think you're talking post June 1 designation in 2025 with those numbers, which means it'd be a little under 7 for 2025 in dead cap and another 11 million in 2026 also carried over. That's still not an easy pill to swallow on an injury that he's going to likely be recovered from by the January/Feb 2025 plus being another year removed from the leg break. This is a silly thought and something we can't really predict or ever plan for, but I know Milano loves being in Buffalo. What do we think the odds are that he would do something like Von or Dawson and take a pay cut coming out of a season with injuries? Strikes me as a team-first type of player from everything we've seen and heard over the years. Cookie man 😭

      It's not luck.
      It's called strength and conditioning.
It's also called forecasting or projecting talent trajectory.
Which our GM has a proven track record of being terrible at on the defensive side of the ball.
There's a mastermind defensive head coach who is going to be on the hot seat by Week 6.
      Wait for it...

Well that SUCKS. I wasn't super sure he would be back fully healthy this year anyway though. He's 30 and an incredibly physical player. Maybe his body is just breaking down. Too bad we had to give up Dodson, but I'm a fan of Dorian Williams. I like Spector too aside from his getting hurt too much. We'll have to maybe go to what we did last year with a 3rd safety...or this may be a way to get Elam on the field as a starter.

I think being without Bernard and Milano was the biggest reason we lost to the Chiefs last season in the playoffs. Not any one player (short of QB) will throw a game or season, but a team can only handle losing so many extremely talented, key players before they can no longer stay afloat.

As the replacement sadly I don't see Dorian Williams as the right fit for this system. A different era like 1990-2009 Williams would be effective 2 down run stopper, but this era lacks agility & coverage ability. Why Bills drafted both Milano & Bernard as converted Safety tweeners who excel in coverage for this pass happy era with modified rules set making passing much easier.
