    I really wanted to participate in the sewerlla make along but for my size it would be over $200! I understand that hand dyed yarn is pricey but it’s so hard as a plus size person to be able to make things like that.

      @madelynchabot Рік тому +4

      I ran into the same issue! I couldn't see how it was worth it when it would be over $200 for a pattern and design I wasn't even sure I would enjoy! I wish there was a more affordable option!

      @KnitsByNayla Рік тому +3

      You can always purchase the pattern and use a more affordable yarn of your choice.
      It’s definitely a SUPER investment to knit with hand dyed when you’re a plus sized knitter. I appreciate those dyers that offer a discount for the larger sizes.

    • @neknits
      @neknits  Рік тому +5

      It definitely was an investment! Sewrella does have an inclusivity discount that automatically applies to kits sizes XL-5XL. But for this MAL you are not required to use their yarn!

    So glad you showed the Lana Grossa Cool Merino yarn!! I have never heard of this brand but this yarn is EXACTLY what I have been scouring the internet for to make a sweater for my boyfriend! He runs very warm so needs a wool blended with a cooler fiber and the price point is good for making a very large sweater.

    Thank you for sharing your projects in such detail it gave me some insight into an adjustment I should try with my next Musselburgh!

    I believe the Musselburgh is pronounced like "neigh" with a soft "gh" sound. Also, I make it with Worsted weight yarn too. Not just up to dk. I love making these hats. Using whatever yarn and needles I have. Mostly making them out of left over yarn skeins from garments. A great way to use those less than 100g skeins.

    I just found your channel, enjoy your videos very much & I'm going back over your older videos. Soon I'll be current! I love your pattern choices, yarn choices. Funny thing, I also enjoy your fast pace speaking. One suggestion, check the past tense for casting on. I think it's "cast" for present and past tense.

    Hi Amy, your knits are always so inspiring. I had to laugh when you pulled out those extremely long DPN,s😂😂. Well done getting your hat going with them! I know how hard it is with short DPN,S. These are moments you can say I can do anything I set my mind to. Woo hoo👏🏼

    Now I'm intrigued about Suri Lace; it does look super soft. I'm more than halfway done with my Tin Can Knits Love Note Sweater which uses mohair/silk held with a fingering. I have to wear a tank top underneath at least b/c of the laced yoke but will see how the mohair feels worn against my body. I really like your colorwork cardigan. Well done on your new sweater additions. I've been told for the Musselburgh one can use a provisional cast on instead of casting on from the crown and then knitting down; I am personally not a fan of top-down hats because of the fiddlyness and because it feels like my hands get cramped.

    Your oversized seasons cardi is beautiful! It’s giving me encouragement to cast on my own 😊 I think a tortoise brown for your buttons would be beautiful!
    I love how knitting is so different for everyone but we can all make wonderful garments and accessories from these awesome pattern designers - I knitted the Musselburgh on US 3 and thought the fabric was too loose so I frogged and sized down to US 2 so I could get 7.5 stitches 😂 but love your hat and that it’s working well now! I love my Musselburgh so much and it was a blast to knit!

    I’m so glad that you’ve finished your Oversized Seasons Cardigan. It’s so beautiful. I bought yarn from my LYS for the Season Pullover Sweater this past June and I laughed when the owner told me I could return for store credit within a year if it didn’t work out. I laughed and told her I won’t need that long to make it. She just smiled at me liked she’d heard that before. Welp, she was right about the timing. 😅 I still haven’t even searched the yarn even though I am obsessed with the pattern (and all of Ozetta’s designs). 😂. To be fair, it was gonna be my first sweater and I was nervous about messing up such beautiful yarn so I made (many) other projects first. Hoping to get to that project soon after I finish up some summer test knits. Especially since I’ve bought a second sweater quantity for the same pattern 😂 (couldn’t resist lemon lime linen quill from purl soho when it was on sale).

      That’s so funny the yarn store owner knew what you were getting into 😂 hopefully you get to start it soon! The lemon lime yarn sounds amazing for the pattern!

    A really enjoyable podcast again Amy, thank you for sharing your knits! May I say as a Scottish person your pronunciation of Musselburgh as Mussel-boro is much closer than Mussel-burg, the way Scottish people pronounce the the burgh suffix is best described as burruh, with the uh sounding as it would if you were to say “uhhh how do you pronounce Musselburgh?”😜 I look forward to seeing your knits again in the future❤

    I'm one of the rare people that loves knitting sweaters bottom up 🙂 First time I knitted bottom up sweater I had the same problem , sleeves and body too long, and then while wearing sweater ,puled up my sleeve to length I liked and measured it . I did the same thing for the body. I wrote those numbers in my note book and every time I knit sweater bottom up I use those measurement and length is perfect every time .I like 38 cm for body length ( up to underarms ) and 45cm sleeve length (up to underarms ) Hope this helps 🙂

    This is such an odd question, but I'm new to sweaters, the Town's Sweater is my first one! But I confused myself on the wording of the pattern. After you finish the front and begin the shoulder shaping, were your decreases on the shoulder side (outside) or collar side (inside). Also, I was so surprised to find out I wasn't following you, I've been watching your podcasts for so long now and love seeing your updates!

    • @neknits
      @neknits  Рік тому

    This video came at the perfect time for me! I just bought the musselburgh pattern today. Do you have any advice as to when to change from the DPNs to the circular needles? I can’t see anything about this in the pattern and don’t want to be on DPNs for too long! Thanks for another lovely video.

    • @thewoollyworker
      @thewoollyworker Рік тому +1

      Hey, ive done this pattern with fingering weight yarn and i changed to circular needles after finishing the increases basically !

    • @joanarnold82
      @joanarnold82 Рік тому +1

      I use magic loop to start with, but when changing to the regular circular I go until I can fit it on my 16in circ. Which is a couple of inches in length. It just depends on how long your dpns are and how long the circular needles are. You don't have to switch after increseases only. I switch in the middle if increases sometimes.
