I think a monochromatic outfit would look great with that Blouse no.1 over, for example beige pants + beige tank or black pants + black tank, and then throw that red blouse over to make it pop!
I am so excited about the knitting needles for socks and will wait to see how it goes. I am excited. I love your red sweater and how that turned out for you. I will keep coming back.
I love wearing sheer tops layered over dresses. Especially dresses where the top may feel a bit more revealing or has spagetti straps to add more coverage/warmth
I have bought 2 patterns by the wave sweater designer and felt almost duped after my purchases after seeing these bare bones instructions and having to look up what felt like everything I needed to have written the pattern myself. I have been tempted to purchase the wave sweater pattern because I truly LOVE their designs, but I wondered if I would be better off knitting up my own inspired design/pattern. Your videos and feedback on this pattern have been extremely helpful. It is good to know others feel similarly, so thank you for sharing your true feelings/experiences with this pattern❤ I have ended up casting on another basic pattern that I will not have troubles with and am still debating between adding the wave sweater or porcelain sweater motifs
I have her nellie top and crew pants patterns which I think are pretty clear (but also relatively simple to follow along to as they are garter and stockinette)! But I agree the more complex patterns are too bare bones for me 🙁 Ive wanted to knit the bibi sweater but don’t know if it’s worth it now and should just pick something else
I also like knitting socks on double point needles but recently have been using 2 16" circular needles and am really liking that. You knit half the stitches on one needle, drop that needle and then knit the other half of the stitches on the other needle. Super easy and you have many more choices of needle types (I like wood and use the llyke). Love all the projects you make and especially like your in-depth critique of patterns, techniques, yarns, tools, etc.
I've been wanting to knit a mohair top like that! I think for styling, I can see it over a slip dress, or you could do black tank, blank jeans, and then have the top be the pop of colour.
So glad I found your channel!! I'm going back to watch a few to catch up and I really appreciate your attention to detail and insights about patterns and yarn! I completely agree about Saona. I made a cozy classic light short sleeve with 1985 and it's kinda prickly. I loved the experience working with the yarn, loooove the color and lightness but it is a little scratchy for a tee. Also thank you for the insights on the esther jacket--I've got that in my queue. Why do you think it's called a jacket and not a cardigan? Thanks!!
I love your Blouse no. 1! great modifications. I think it would look great thrown over a tank dress or a tank and wide pants. I have made the Esther jacket. Did it with a little less ease and a shorter length than the pattern calls for and I have enjoyed wearing it. It is worth all the work for sure.
I'm currently knitting the esther sweater and for me, the increase sections were the only part where I really needed to reference the charts. After that, I had it committed to memory and became a lot more of an enjoyable knit!
Knitting my Blouse No 1 right now! It’s my second one since I really love this pattern. I think it’s rather a contiguous drop shoulder. My bind off is curling at the end so I might try that for my sleeves!
Great to hear, you're doing fine with the honeycomb brioche. Good luck for the increases!🤞🏻 I would like to make a suggestion on sock needles as I really enjoy working with them - Knitpro Nova Cubics. I use the DPN version for the knitting and the fixed circulars for trying on in between or putting the stitches "on hold" for transportation. They're really sharp, slippery but not too much and with them I have achieved the best results yet! The Addi Crazy Trio is quite popular here in Germany and I recently purchased them together with the Addi Sock Wonder. To me the Trio ones unfortunately are so fiddly and blunt to work with where as the Sock Wonder one needs quite a big circumference to work with enjoyably. Looking forward to your next video!😊 Have a great week & happy knitting 🧶
Love your mohair top! I'm really starting to wear more bright colors as I'm getting more confidence in my style ;). I tried the crasytrios for 5 min and knew they weren't for me. I like to knit 2 extra stitches on the next dpn to prevent laddering but that wasn't possible with the trios. Now I use a small Addi circulars with dpn's for the toes ;) I hope they work for you though 😊🍀
Hi, thanks for really indepth reviews and detailed comments regarding your yarns, patterns and tools. Much appreciated! 😊 Best regards from accross The Pond 😁
Love the red on you! I totally agree with you about doing a ton of research before buying and that is why I only use Addi Needles. They are more expensive but the quality is superior and, I’ll have to take a look at the Addis you have! Finally, love your channel!
Thank you! ☺️ I actually don’t like the tips of the addi needles 🙈 I find they’re not sharp enough but I do agree, they’re very well made! That’s why I’m curious to try the hiya hiya flyers as I hear they have sharp (arguably maybe too sharp though) tips
Hi Rebecca, not sure if you have mentioned this before but how is the Drops kid silk in light beige you used for sweater no 14? Does it lean itchier for Drops or softer?
I didn’t save the yarn label so I can’t reference the dye lot anymore but it definitely leaned softer! I’ve found that drops quality has changed in recent years though 🙁 and I purchased this dye lot in 2021 I believe!
That pink color that you knit the honey bucket bag in- that is literally your color! You need to knit a garment in that shade, it looks so good next to your face! loved ur ep as always :)
I have a bralette from the brand parade that is a similar color to your blouse number one, that may work! I also think a black bralette with black jeans would look great! Love all your projects 😊
Hello! I’m Bobbi. Your channel popped up in my UA-cam suggestions. You have a lovely podcast! I really enjoyed the double pointed needle “hack”. I have always boiled water and poured over my Clover Takumi interchangeable needles cords. It works like a charm! Thank you for a great episode! I subscribed and liked!!! 👋😊❤️
Great episode, Rebecca! I really like how you styled your sweater no. 14 (with the turtleneck underneath and the necklace). I'm not sure if you wear a lot of dresses, but I think a sheer mohair sweater looks great over a simple sleeveless dress!
It’s been my favorite way to style it since the v neck is so deep! I do have a few sleeveless dresses that I’ll start to wear again in the spring so I’ll try that - thank you! ☺️
Your hair looks so pretty! Love the color of your Honeycomb bag. I can't wait to see your finished Wave Sweater. I also do a lot of research before buying new products.
Thank you - still learning how to curl my hair so your comment means a lot haha! I am thinking I need to knit a garment with the honey bucket bag yarn - the speckles make it super fun to knit up! 🤩
Just subscribed! I would love to see you work the Addi Flexi needles. I ordered some last night, they arrive today, so I was excited to see you speak about them here. I would appreciate in a future video you sharing your thoughts on them. I have high hopes for using the needles!
I love your Blouse no. 1, you could also try wearing a vest on top of the blouse, to have the flowy sleeves but still full coverage for work for example !
You inspired me to also cast on My Honey Vest! I happened to have all the yarn I needed in stash, including Plotulopi. I was considering doing some alternating with the background colours, but I agree that it risks looking stripey, so I’m also going with a solid background. I just cast on the double knitting today! Love your podcast and all your projects.
I wanted it to work but it’s too distracting 🥲 I think I’ll save my scraps now for the lonely leftovers vest! Good luck with the double knitted back panel!
Thank you for another great podcast episode 💖 I was thinking that the blouse would look lovely over a dress, so it would double up as a very light sweater in the changing seasons
Hey Rebecca, Thanks for such informative vids, I've been subscribed since the first vlogs and always look forward to them, we share very similar tastes. Just wanted to let you know I would be very curious to hear more on the addi flexi flips and would be curious to see them in action as I've been eyeing them off for ages. I currently do magic loop for my small circ knitting and I cant say I love it but more tolerate it, its the continual resetting up which I find tedious but I dont feel at all tempted to try straight double points. I own 2 addi interchangeable sets, the lace and the turbo, so I confess I'm an addi fan. Until next time, happy click clacking. Tara (Aussie bred, Canuck by birth, still happily dwelling down under)
Love how you’ve styled the blouse no 1! Super creative with the matching bathing suit top, I would never have known if you hadn’t said LOL I can imagine it styled with a mini skirt and knee-high boots or loafers/ballet flats too!
Hello lovely! Your blouse looks so good! I think it’d be really cool on top of a black satin dress (spaguetti straps, midi or long and with boots type doc martens) or even with the satin slip skirts we see everywhere these days! Soz, you asked for ideas😂. Love the honey vest!! Thanks for another wonderful catch up😉
Your blouse no 1 came out so cute! I'm knitting the esther sweater but am having the same struggle 😅 I can read the knitting on the right side, but struggle a bit with the wrong side. And having to constantly check the chart has me wanting to knit on it less too 🥲
I'm knitting Esther sweater and after I figured out how to use numbers 3, 6 and 11 I haven't checked the pattern. Don't wanna obviously write the pattern out but maybe that helps. 😊 Part of it is flat so assume it's the same with the jacket.
Do you use the Knit companion app? It's amazing! I'm 53 and don't really like to do things digitally, but that app changed my mind. I used the YT videos to learn how to use it and it makes it so much easier to use an iPad and knit!
Ooo interesting!! Can I ask why you ended up going back to dpns? Addi tips aren’t my favorite so that’s my only con so far but I haven’t knit a sock with them yet to fully decide my thoughts
@@hipknithooray I just really love how DPNs feel in my hands! I find that they're the easiest to hold when making socks and I just love that hand feel!
I'm also looking at the aura top, but not sure whether to use that pattern or a different one for a single strand mohair sheer top! Could you share a little on why you didn't choose the aura top? Sorry if you mention it already in a different video!
I just preferred the construction of blouse no 1 light! I didn’t want to knit a bottom up and seam the sleeves - especially with one strand of mohair in case I needed to frog! Both have a very similar fit though ☺️
I enjoyed watching your video ☺️ Have you thought about wearing blouse no 1 with a light color slip dress or top in a similar style? I think it should be a really feminine look ❤
The blouse turned out really nice, the look is stunning with that red/orange sport bra! And damn i have been eying that honey vest for a long time but a bit too scared as it seems difficult. But you have me courage!
I considered that but I find I don’t reach for my knit bralettes enough! Maybe one day I’ll knit a bralette to match though cause layering knits on knits is so cool!
do you think the esther jacket would be a good first texture pattern? i’m obsessed with it but haven’t done texture before so im a bit intimidated. i’m also interested in doing the seasons sweater by ozetta first just to dip my toes into a little texture first
Hmmm I would say it’s doable if you’ve knit cardigans/jackets before but I would recommend starting with a texture knit in the round first if you can wait to knit the Esther Jacket! You have to read a chart which flips the knit/purl stitches when you work on the right side and wrong side so it could get a bit confusing
Love your content!! AND PSA. AS A SINGAPOREAN KNITTER. DO *NOT* WEAR MOHAIR IN SE ASIA the humidity will make the fabric stick to your sweat 😅 wear your fingering knits in cotton / silk, my cami no 5 in sock yarn already makes me sweat unless it’s a particularly cool day.
LOOL 😂😂😂 I shouldn’t have said the acronym - it’s just so automatic to me! GTA is Greater Toronto Area but I also sometimes think grand theft auto in my head too when I read it cause it’s so iconic
Hello! This is a wonderful video. btw. I was on the Aritzia site and noticed the Babaton, Vision Camisole which may suit your blouse#1 as they have it in a vibrant red fwiw :) thanks...from a fellow GTAer. (grand theft auto hahahaha @ariellab2557)
I think a monochromatic outfit would look great with that Blouse no.1 over, for example beige pants + beige tank or black pants + black tank, and then throw that red blouse over to make it pop!
Ooo yes!!! 🔥🔥 will try a black monochrome outfit underneath
Or a completey red look! That'd be a bold but fabulous look!

Just got to the bit about 9" needles - I recommend using the two circulars method with those once you're on the heel/toe!

Go for it!! Aloft is next to skin soft so perfect for the blouse 🤩🤩

I would try the blouse no.1 tucked into a high waisted black skirt (can be shorter for the warm weather). Pair with some cute tights
Ohh that’s a awesome idea!! A great way to continue wearing the blouse in the summer
Your blouse no 1 came out so cute! I'm knitting the esther sweater but am having the same struggle 😅 I can read the knitting on the right side, but struggle a bit with the wrong side. And having to constantly check the chart has me wanting to knit on it less too 🥲
Yes!! I watched your last podcast and I couldn’t relate more to your wave sweater and esther jacket thoughts - on the same wavelength for sure haha
I love the way you used a bathing suit top in corresponding colour for your mohair blouse, it looks terrific!
Ah thank you so much! ☺️
I'm knitting Esther sweater and after I figured out how to use numbers 3, 6 and 11 I haven't checked the pattern. Don't wanna obviously write the pattern out but maybe that helps. 😊 Part of it is flat so assume it's the same with the jacket.

that red is 10000% your colour! and I also love the colour combo for your wave sweater, the fabric looks great so far :-)
I think the top would also look nice with a leather mini skirt! Or maybe a satiny pink one?
YES!! 🔥🔥🔥 I don’t have a leather skirt but I bought leather pants earlier this year so will definitely try that
