Hate seeing these adverts everywhere! Thought people would have moved on from this by now but it's still an issue i see! Stick to Casio, Citizen and Seiko for a cheap reliable watch!
I bought 100 watches from a drop shipper when they had a buy one get one free offer but messed up and every watch you placed in your cart was free and all you paid was a 5 bucks shipping fee. I was really surprised when they actually arrived ^^

Hi Toby, just had a look at their site. Most likely drop-shipped (or something similar). Saw those exact designs when I was looking on Alibaba yesterday (albeit with worse glass). Absolutely overpriced too, I'd say avoid mate

Dropshipping feeds into social attitudes of recent years. Buy a no brand watch for €3....sell it for €20 and no one wants a "cheap" watch. Say its exclusive, microbrand etc and charge €60 for it and people will buy it. Bonkers situation.

This is also rampant on Twitter. I own one of these wristwatches. It is super cheap and only looks good in pictures. Sucks I fell for it, but ever since I report the accounts who keep posting the scam links. Every single one I see.

I have a mvmt watch and a few of the chinese watches. I do see a quality improvement with mvmt over the logo less versions, but compared to my seiko, timex, vario, it doesnt compare. I am seeing more unique designs out mvmt, do you think they're moving up in value?
Hi Kevin, I imagine there might be a slight improvement as a result of the Movado takeover. That being said, unfortunately the price keeps going up also, meaning MVMT are likely to never be truly good value (in my opinion). Have you seen their original Indiegogo where they listed their watches for $59? I reckon that would be a more fair price

Good video. Agree on most things BUT 316L is a huge step up from the 2 dollar watches if its the case not just the case back.
This is my bottom line never a chromed sintered case which is basically srandard on all cheap watches.

I feel like "genuine leather" is an awfully misleading name. "Genuine" makes it sound like it's the best quality leather possible, while in reality, it's the exact opposite. One thing to add to your list of things to watch out for, as far as dropshipping is concerned, would be suspiciously long shipping/delivery times. If you live anywhere outside of Asia, the shipping will likely exceed two weeks. That would be a very long delivery time from a European/NA storehouse, so it virtually always indicates that the product is being shipped directly from China and very clearly not from Italy.
I buy the same type of watches for about $7.98 and then I search for the most affordable metal mesh watch bands that I can get for bulk cost and now I can turn a bunch of low priced basic minimalist miyota quartz watches and turn them into $1,000.00 designer watches.
Lol I went to china street markets in shenghai that sell fakes, and saw a bunch of watches; what surprised me is that a lot of the watches are mvmt or DW watches lol; bought for $5 and didn't look back

Problem with this is that there are SO MANY doing it now, those profits will be massively eaten into by low sales and much higher marketing costs than before. Why would any big creator wear one of your shitty watches over a DW paying 50x as much for the same promotion? You'll be stuck with 3000 follower creators which will get you like 1 sale per promotion.

I agree with almost everything you said here, but you're dead wrong that a 316l steel case is a warning sign of poor quality.
Almost all high end steel watches are made of 316l. Rolex is the notable exception, but even they used 316l until relatively recently.
The fact that a watch case is made of 316l steel is a sign that it is at least reasonably decent quality.
Poor quality watch cases are generally made of base metal (usually a die cast zinc alloy) that has been plated.
The warning words to look out for are "alloy case".
Guess whats even better?buying similar watches from chinese sellers paying a fraction of price for exact same watch.example, buying the mvmt from AliExpress (with different logo ofcourse) for 20$ instead of paying 200$ for mvmt print.mvmt and dw may be worst buy for 200$ but worth every penny if u pay just 20-30$!
Some extra marketing slogans of drop shipped watches: eco-friendly, ethical, vegan. Yes, even these concepts are used to scam people these days.

Maybe so, but it's a different ball game. At least with many Rolex models, you can get a decent return on your investment in the long run; whereas with these watches, they instantly lose 10x value. You'd be lucky to sell one at all
