Although my cold process soap making tutorials are of a tutorial nature, they are intended for people who have a good understanding of making cold process soap. The information given is based on what works for me, however, there are lots of variables associated with cold process soap making and I therefore, take no responsibility for the results achieved when using the techniques or methods explained in these tutorials. Cold process soap involves the necessary use of sodium Hydroxide (lye) which is a very dangerous substance. Before attempting and cold process soap making you should ensure you are fully aware of the lye safety procedures and always wear the correct safety equipment when making soap.

Hi Everyone. It's time for another 'You Can Make This Soap' video. I always try to take these back a step so they include more detail of the preparation, mixing stage, which I don't tend to include in most of my videos, so this one is slightly longer than usual. I love a mini drop swirl, it's such a lovely pour. I hope, if you're a soap making that you have a go at this soap if you haven't tried it before. Thanks for watching everyone, and I hope you have a lovely weekend.
Hi, Good afternoon...
How many is the weight of each Soap?
The woman who does magic with soap. I love it and love your job. My best soapmaker ever. 😍😍😍😍
AW, that's so kind of you, thanks so much Cris
Jaw dropping techniques!
Every single video I would say …. O M G
Thank you for this lesson on the “drop swirl.”. You are such a natural and a great teacher💚💜💚
You are so welcome, so pleased you liked it and found it helpful
I do not dare underestimate the pleasure of watching soap being made as well as using it. Just love it 💖 thanks for sharing my friend 😀
Thanks so much 😊
I love to see you being able to finally be more free with your design, colors and artistic ability!🤗🤗😍 You're incredibly beautiful lady inside and out and lovely brilliant soap and tips!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, it's really appreciated
I love that you are always mentioning how things can be used again and again!! I find that very important and I believe you are doing a wonderful job on spreading awareness 🧡🧡
Thank you so much, yes I find that really important, especially when one of the reasons quite a lot of people like cold process soap is to try to reduce single use plastic, so to me it really important to make sure I cut down on that as much as possible when I make soap
My squeeze bottles are larger at 16oz. But it’s what I could get. I’ve been lining them with bag liners so technically I’m using a smaller space. And clean up is easy 😉 I just have to remove the bag and then wash the lid and pipette.
Love this series, making amazing soaps accessible to everyone. You're so generous with your knowledge! Thanks for sharing! Hope you're well. 😊
Thanks so much Beck, yes we are all very well thanks. Hope you are too :-)
The grey looks almost like the shadow of the drop. Genius. Love it. And besides you give a lot of useful information in between. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much atinemassare, that's very kind of you.
I've watched dozens & dozens of soap tutorials before happening upon yours. Idk how I missed you but wish I'd found you earlier. Your calm, practical way of showing how new and beautiful designs are made makes them feel like they're within everyone's reach, not just those who've been making soap for decades. Thank you for sharing your approach, your techniques and your wonderful creations. You make me believe anything is possible when you take the time to enjoy the journey. That sounds a bit corny but nevertheless still true.
These are so lovely! They remind me of spring time rain because of the happy colors 🥰
Would you ever consider doing a video about different colorants, like micas, neons and ultramarines? I think that would super interesting to learn more about!
Thanks so much kate, yes it's certainly something I could do. I will add it to my list :-)
I love this technique! Also, the black tape is also called electrical tape in the US.
Thanks Sheila, and thank you for confirming that, it's good to know
Just wanted to thank you for all your helpful videos!
After watching your videos, I finally made a successful batch of soap yesterday. My soap batter would always get too thick and I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong until I watched your videos and I can't wait to check out the soap today. I mixed the batter, did not bring it to trace, added my colors and it poured so easily that I am just so happy. Thank you so much for helping us soaper's.
Thank you for this wonderful series
Glad you enjoy it, thank you so much Jamie
Beautiful work as usual!
Thank you so much 😀
That’s friggin gorgeous! I have to try this out.
Ooh yes I hope you do :-)
Magical !!!
I don’t know if it will help anyone, but when I use a pipette to measure any type of EO or FO, I just turn it upside down (hole facing the top of the bottle) and I use a bit of tape to wrap around the pipette and secure it to the bottle. (Wrap clear tape around your bottle 1st, so you don’t tear your label when taking the tape off to re-use the pipette)And I just take a tiny piece of tape and cover the open end so it doesn’t let any dust or debris in. It doesn’t add and bulk to the bottle and storing is easy and way less plastic to end up possibly in the ocean! (Or anywhere an animal might suffer from contact with it)
Such a lovely delicate soap Lisa, love it, thank you 🌈💐
Thanks so much Tracey😊
Oh I love it so much!
That's so kind of you to say Kim , thank you so much 😊

Love it. Love your great explanations. Hi from Puerto Rico.
c'est vraiment sublime!!!

Thanks so much Teresa 😊
Hi Lisa, This is such a wonderful video. Very helpful tips for the new soapmaker. Indeed as Cris below says, "you do magic with soap". Thank you.
AW, thanks so much Linda
As I have said before, it is utterly mesmerising watching you soap, Lisa! I am very fond of this drop design and have done once before, so I might give it a go. What a beautiful soap and lovely colours. Also thank you for all the tips and a great video, my own soap can only get better this time around🙏❤️
Thank you so much Mag, mini drops are lovely I agree, ooh I hope you make a lovely soap, I'm sure you will
you doing wonders
That's so kind of you to say Bonsile Thabile Mnisi, thank you so much 😊
Love it! My next experiment has been chosen 😬
Ooh excellent news, I hope it goes really well.
As a new soap maker, I really, really enjoy your videos. I dream about doing these incredible techniques someday. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing talent with us!
You are so welcome, thank you so much for your lovely comment
I cant make soaps myself (never had smell lol), but I love watching your videos 💕 Seeing how simple ingrediens set up so nicely and your voice is great to listen to. Another beautiful batch today 💕
Thank you so much, such a lovely comment
I don't know if I will ever make soap, but your instructions are really good. Very clear and I like how you explain why you are doing something. The end result was very pretty!
Thank you so much!
Some excellent tips! Love the one about the pipettes. I always wash mine and reuse them. I have reused the same dozen+ for several years. I only throw out when they are damaged and can't be washed.
Nice drops! Cheers 💕
Thanks so much Cheryl, I'm so pleased you're another wash and re-user. I'm like you, I don't like the idea of 'disposable' things
Very cool getting 2 colours in the dribbles like that
Hi Karen. always lovely to see you, they're my favourite bits :-) Thanks so much
Always beautiful.
Thank you! 😊
Cuanto te he echado de menos ...
Como siempre tienes mi agradecimiento por tus clases magistrales y mi like
Muchas gracias, estoy tan contenta de que te gusten mis videos.
Sencillamente hermoso 💚 😍
very nice design
Hi Denise thank you so much for your very kind comment 😊
Too cute 😍😍😍
That's so kind of you to say @biggonnaturalbeauty8114, thank you so much 😊
Since seeing your video on soda ash and using a water discount, I’ve always used a deep water discount and haven’t had soda ash again! Thanks for all the great information!!
That's excellent news, so pleased
Oh dear. I’m one of those people who bash their soap into trace. I made 6 batches of soap yesterday - and one moved into thick trace very fast. That meant changing my idea for a 4 colour swirl into a 4 layer soap. It’s still very pretty - but It would have been better had I known to let it just sit and move into trace on its own!!
Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment. Yes I definitely find a difference between getting to emulsion and then waiting a little while and blending right to trace. I hope it makes a difference for you too
I did most error that you had mention during colouring my soap and funny thing does happend :)
learnt it the funny annoying way.
Thankyou for your video.
Yes, funny things can happen with colours, thanks for leaving a comment :-)
Lesson for today. Good things come to those who wait. 😊
Hi again, thanks for another comment - and yes I agree, but sometimes it is difficult isn't it :-)
97% humidity!!! Yikes! I live in BC, Canada, where we just came off a massive heat wave. Record breaking temperatures in Lytton BC, literally hotter than the Sahara!
Of course, lovely soap as always Lisa!
HI Emily, always lovely to see you, ooh that does sound too hot!!
ΥΠΕΡΟΧΑ!!!
Σε ευχαριστώ πάρα πολύ
Thanks 😊
You're welcome!
Thank you for the ideas and your techniques!! I am going to try this soap. I don't have any pipettes, but I am a glassblower. Making my own tips will work, I believe. Also, I'm thinking of trying various tip designs to see what effects I can produce. Maybe a clover shape or a multi-tip to get equi-distant drops. Let the fun begin!!
Ooh that sounds so interesting, I did once put 2 thin rubber tubes next to each other and had them coming out of a squeeze bottle, it produced lovely hearts (they were upside down, but that OK, I quite often make soap upside down to get a design I want) I wonder if something like that would work?
@@IDreamInSoap I bet it would. That rubber tube idea gives me food for thought! I work with multi-bore tubing and I have a technique where I can adjust the inner diameter of all the bores at any given spot, all at the same time. If I could rig squeeze bottles together to a glass multi-bore tube, I can maybe do something with different colors. One of the products I make has 8 tubes, one inside the other, all concentric. I bet I could make something like that with separate squeeze bottles supplying soap to each tube. I don't know what will happen if I open these doors!! LOL
Striking!
That's so kind of you to say @brightchange6065, thank you so much 😊
I’m loving yr videos and knowledge, I’ve only been making soap for the last 3 months, still in the testing stage, I won’t be giving up my day job lol! Just wondering if you can recommend a tall and skinny mold here in the uk, I’ve seen one on Amazon and not good reviews 😯
Most beautiful ❤❤❤❤👌🇯🇲
That's so kind of you to say Georgiana , thank you so much 😊
Hermoso jabón.
Hi I love your videos, thank you for sharing 😊 where do you buy those big jugs with the spout. I have some of the small ones, but I have not found the large ones
Hola..felicitaciones!! Una pregunta a mi me gana la ansiedad y corto los jabones a las 6 horas de hechos o a las 12 horas..no aguanto de esperar 24hs..esto afecta ? O sea no se logra la saponificacion si lo corto antes? Mil gracias
Beautifully made soap, Lisa. I was wondering if there’s something you could come up with for recycling scraps so soap, or even for rebatching soap.
Hi Sunita, thanks so much, I never tend to do rebatch or recycled soaps as here in the UK they are illegal to sell
Perfectly done Lisa. Such a pretty soap and definitely doable for someone like me because of your video instructions. Thank you so much for sharing.
Quick question... do you think adding milk in the recipe will still keep it fairly fluid, even with all your tips and tricks? My normal batter is a nice slow moving one but I do love adding milk
Hi Michelle, thanks so much. If your recipe is nice and slow moving, you should be able to add milk as long as you start cool and don't mix too much. you actually don't want the recipe to be too runny, so as long as it doesn't get too thick and you move fairly quickly, so make sure you have all of your colours prepared etc you should be ok
This is so cool! May I ask how/when you clean the squeeze bottles?
Hi Mariola, I have a whole video showing how I clean everything after making soap
Reminds me of wisteria 🥰
Ooh yes, I can totally see that now you have said
LOVE all your videos!! You are such an excellent soap maker & teacher!!
One question- what brand is your stick blender? Or where can I purchase one?
Thanks so much!!!
Thanks so much Ann, ooh my stick blender, it was quite an investment, but I love it. It's a Waring Bolt, warning - it's not cheap, but it makes me smile every time :-)
@@IDreamInSoap Thank you so much!!
Hi Lisa, this looks gorgeous! Where did you get those super tiny spatulas from?!! I need some!
Thanks Tanya, ooh I'm pretty sure they from Amazon, they're make up spatulas, designed for getting the last bits out of make up bottles
The little polka dots are cute and pretty~~
That's so kind of you to say 행복바램 Soap, thank you so much 😊
Where do you buy those squeeze bottles? And the soap cutter? Im in Scotland.
Hey gorgeous! Beautiful soap! You're still my hero 🙃🥰 Did I ever ask you how long you've been making soap? Are you guys back to normal life post pandemic? Stay safe my friend!! Diane
Hey there, lovely to see you again. Hmm how long, not that long in the grand scheme of things, a few years. We are about to be released from all restriction on 19th July, but so many people are still working from home etc and I think a lot of businesses are actually changing the way they work to allow that to continue for a lot of people. I think they've see that people can function well at home and it saves them buying huge expensive offices
Very beautiful I love watching you make soap why do you cut your oven on 170 and put the soap in the oven overnight I heard of two people that does that and I never knew the reason why because when I make myself I never do that and it comes out perfectly so that's why I'm asking does that make a difference
Hi Caverena, I do that to force gel in my soap. You may find that your soap goes through gel on it's own, or your soap may not gel. I do quite a big water discount in my soap, less water mean the soap is less likely to go through gel phase, so I CPOP it to make sure that gel phase happens and to make sure I never get a partial gel (the ring in the middle of the soap). Gel phase tends to give brighter colours in your soap
Have been having a terrible time lately, I look forward for Friday and when you post; this video was exactly the length I was craving ☺️
AW that's not good Victoria, I hope things pick up for you very soon. I'm so pleased I can add something nice to your day
I’m looking for the scraper you used to clean out the squeeze bottles, do you have a link? Or the name? Thanks!
Hi Mary Ruth, it's called a 'mini supoon' from Dreamfarm, it's brilliant :-)
how does your soap not start forming already while you're doing this? minuets hard almost immediately :( is it because Im just using melt and pour soup?
Yes, melt and pour soap will start to set up as soon as it starts to cool. Cold process will stay fluid much longer (depending on your recipe)
does your method of keeping the batter fluid, stay fluid for your specific recipe or for soap recipes in general?
HI, the techniques I use will help with all recipes
@@IDreamInSoapThank youuu (: i will certainly give this a try!
How do I make a soap that fits the face, is it the same way as the body soap? What is the difference between them? Can you provide me with the information please? I need it
You can use body soap on your face, it will just depend how gentle it is and how sensitive your face is, if you want something very sensitive make sure you use a recipe with no coconut oil and minimise colours and fragrance
❤
Thank you 😊
Thank you Lisa. The last time I tried to do this, it failed and looked terrible. How would I go about adding an embed to the top? I want to use this design with some rose embeds I have.
AW I hope you have more success if you try again. To add an embed to the top you will just need to wait until the top sets up enough so that the embed won't sink and then you can put it on
@@IDreamInSoap I'm going to try following your directions tonight. I'm waiting for the lye to cool enough.
@@moiraesfate1 Excellent news, good luck
@@IDreamInSoap Yeah, that didn't work. I don't know whats causing it but this is the third soap since summer started that accelerated on me so fast I could only glop it into the mold and stir. I don't know what's going on. I'm going to try making a very small unscented uncolored batch with no additives and see what happens.
😍🤩👌
Hi Ιώ Αμαδρυάς thank you so much for your very kind comment 😊
Hey Lis, beautiful, Gorgeous, on the tall and skinny which I'm going to change to. What is the dimensions for
Each bar, oh and I am doing the Soap challenge and I have some questions, what's the best way to get in touch? I had to do yours of course...🤗😉
HI, not really sure what you're question is here, think it posted before it was complete
Hello. Neon,it's Natural?
Hi Christine, no, typically neons are not a natural colourant
@@IDreamInSoap merci de votre reponse
What is the reason for putting it in the oven?
Hi Kayla, it forces the soap to go through gel phase, which makes the colours nice and bright
@@IDreamInSoap Oh ok thank you. If gel phase is achieved on its own will the colors be as bright?
@@kayla-rae4770 Hi Kayla, yes, it doesn't matter how you achieve gel. If you live in a warm environment and maybe just wrap a towel over your soap to make sure it gels it will have the same effect, you don't need the oven, it's just useful if your room temperatures aren't that warm to force the soap into gel phase
@@IDreamInSoap Oh I live in a hot climate so I guess I wont need to do that unless it is needed. Thank you very much. Do you have any videos or tips to prevent soda ash?
@@kayla-rae4770 A water discount will really help, also cover your soap with plastic wrap and leave it covered. If you get bad soda ash leave it for 2 days without uncovering (I know it's hard)
