    Just found your channel! Amen to everything you say. I’m 69 years old been playing since I was a kid. Golf kDigest recently finished a report that they do not like to publish…….The average score for the average golfer is still 100! With all the amazing improvements in technology, balls, shafts, clubs. Nothing has changed!!!!! Still the same scores!
    We would probably all be better off if there were absolutely no golf instructions allowed except for here is a ball here are some clubs figure out how to swing it yourself

    Best advice I ever received was in 1966 I was 18 and the Pro where I had worked at the
    GC since I was 7yrs old. He said don't change your swing. I didn"t listen and now you
    know the rest of the story. Good advice Bill.

      Hey Ray, I know it seems at this point I may sound as if I’m talking out of both sides of my mouth to some. When I get through, and it may take a while, I’m sure they will understand what I’m trying to get across. Your advice was spot on and I was told the same at the age of 12 by my coach. 60 years later I know why he said it and 10 years ago the advice was the same but in different content. There are mechanics in golf and there is motion as well, but to teach one without the other as we have been taught, only gives us 1/2 of the information we are seeking to play the best we can play. I don’t know of any teachers today that combine both motion and mechanics in their teachings. More light on this subject coming soon. Thanks and have a great week!!

    Very true Bill, I have just begun the process of finding myself also. I'm 68 and enjoying for the first time in my 40 years of golf. It's amazing to finally be able to hit a 5 iron and up with solid contact and direction with swinging to your on DNA.

    To prove this video's point, which is excellent, tell me ANY and I mean ANY PGA teaching pro who would teach someone either Lee Trevino or Jim Furyk's swings? There isn't one on the planet. And last I checked they did quite well for themselves playing against the best in the world.

      My point exactly knight which you so elegantly gave examples. Those two and others used what was the motion they found that worked for them. There have been many dig it out of the dirt other than Hogan. Many mechanics we use screw up our motions, as well many motions we attempt messes up the mechanics. An understanding of both is needed to actually find YOU. This is what is missing with golf instruction, one who knows both sides of the record and can articulate how to put the two together and produce the purest motion for their students. Hard to explain as I said in the video but I will attempt to in the next video I post. Thanks for the comment hope all read it, because of the point you make. Have a great last part of the week!!!

    So True .. Each one of us has the "Key" .. a Good Instructors show us the Door Lock where the Key will fit. It is up to us to unlock that door.

      The best teacher in my mind would understand how we move naturally Pat then apply the mechanics that allows for that natural movement. Very few if any approach teaching others this way. Thanks buddy!!

    Hi Bill. Enjoy all your vids as usual. And agree with you so much, about finding yourself and stuff. For years we’ve talked about following your DNA.
    BUT, you still have to have a path of discovery or a journey of hard work and setbacks to learn I feel, don’t you? And you find cool people (instructors) that are relatable and who appear to be good at their craft and they give you a place to start and you go from there, finding your own path. Some things appear to work and some don’t. So, slowly, you find yourself. I do believe tho that all the solid old school fundaments DO WORK. But they only work if you have no other swing faults that throws a wrench into the motion. Then that old school fundamental doesn’t work.
    It’s an aggravating and fun journey. Golf is just hard.
    I do feel tho that I have found my motion. It’s not perfect but I’m overall consistent.
    Now if I could just be 30 yards longer and never 3 putt! 😂

      Morning Craig. Would agree with everything you said that’s for sure. I have found in my journey something very simple, there is motion we all possess to do a task and there are mechanics required along with the motion to complete the task correctly. Example: screwing a wood screw onto a piece of wood. The mechanics, place screwdriver head into the head of the screw, must match of course, Phillips head or straight head. The motion, turn handle of driver clockwise to allow screw point to penetrate wood. Repeat the motion until screw head is flush with wood surface. If you use the wrong mechanics the head doesn’t fit the design of the tool, and if you use the wrong motion you may have the mechanics right but the screw won’t go into the wood correctly. I think you get the point. The motion required to do the task must match up with the mechanics that allow the correct motion to happen. That way of thinking is what has been overlooked in golf instruction, you can’t have success without the combination of both motion and mechanical requirements. Thanks and great to hear from you again, pray all is well!!!

      @@Wooduck Yesss! I agree. I’ve often thought that anyone can learn to play golf decent without any instruction whatsoever. I’ll try to explain.
      Find a golf swing motion that feels comfortable and powerful and is so natural that you can repeat that same swing every single cotton picking time! And if you can hear that SWOOSH sound while doing so, all the better.
      NOW, experiment by putting the ball down in DIFFERENT positions until that swing you developed sends the ball to your intended target. AND like magic, you’re playing golf. 😂

      @@craigguthrie3400 yes sir…..it’s that simple, but who does it???? And a better question why not? Answer: they don’t do the work that explains why it works. Once you UNDERSTAND why, then it becomes an AUTOMATIC DO. The human mind is a complicated invisible force that is constantly seeking perfection, that’s why it doesn’t trust the DO , which could be better. So the search continues!!!!

    Its about making solid contact with the ball; when you understand what makes that happen, you will become a good golfer.

    • @Wooduck
      @Wooduck  7 місяців тому

      That’s my point teddy, people don’t understand what makes that happen. They have always been taught mechanics to accomplish the task . Understanding the laws of motion along with the mechanics gives you the understanding of what makes it happen.

    DNA is the key.how you are built

    • @Wooduck
      @Wooduck  7 місяців тому +1

      That’s true Van and some of the mechanics we have been taught hinder the natural motion which is in or DNA. Matching the mechanics to the motion can and only will enhance the pure motion we are seeking. That is what is missing in golf instruction in my opinion. One who has a complete understanding of how the body moves will see without any doubt the mechanics that it also takes to create the motion. After this series the light should be bright for those who are following. Many vids will be needed to get you there which I completely understand. Thanks
