  • Drafting is really hard. Here are some examples of draft profiles and scouting reports that players redefined in their AFL careers.

    Bont is the most talented player since Judd

    Lizard may be the first?? The age old saying is if you can't make it as a forward go back and flourish 😂

      Many have done it but I cant think of any 'key forwards' that have become running defenders. Majority turn into key backs or interceptors. Lizard is one of a kind.

    Bont is a fantastic player but he is NOT ''lightning fast''

    Scouts aren't wrong when they rate players AT THE TIME that they do it. Bont did have deficencies at the start and he improved on them. Other players had less deficencies but didnt improve as much.
    Unless a scout says that a player would never amount to anything and does they aren't wrong.

    lol at the scouting report in Bont calling him a bust.
    He was great in his first year and a legit Brownlow contender by his second.
    I know you won’t always get it right but that scout was pretty daft.

    • @devilwarr1or
      @devilwarr1or 9 місяців тому +1

      legit contender in his second year? in 2015 he had 13 votes when fyfe won it with 31.....
      2016 he had 20 when dangerfield won it with 35
      runner up in 2021 and 2023 his 8th and 10 seasons were the only times he was a legit contender.

      @@devilwarr1or 13 votes is excellent, wdym?
      Only three players get votes per game, so if you play well but not among the umpires’ top 3, tough luck.
      But Bont was easily BOG without being properly credited for ages. Another common theme with Brownlows is umpires often ignore new players for a year or two.

      @devilwarr1or 9 місяців тому +1

      @HorizonOfHope you said he was contending by year 2, he was not. He never has barring 2 years where he was exceptionally close well into his career.
      You said it's hard for 1st and 2nd year players to get votes....jhf got 16 this year in his second year.
      And Nick daicos was runner up in his second year after missing the final few games due to injury and would have likely won it had he not been injured...
      So the excuses only apply to bont?

    • @HorizonOfHope
      @HorizonOfHope 9 місяців тому

      @@devilwarr1or Did you watch him play or just read his Brownlow stats? When you saw him play, it was obvious. He was the best player on field.
      A bit like saying Jeremy Cameron wasn't the best player on Geelong cos he didn't get the most Brownlow votes - he was their best player in his prime and it wasn't close.

    • @devilwarr1or
      @devilwarr1or 9 місяців тому +1

      @@HorizonOfHope@HorizonOfHope yes I did watch him, he was good,but the best on ground? No and it's reflected in the voting in not only the brownlow but also the bulldogs club themselves!
      He's won their bnf in 2016,2017,2019 2021 and 2023..... won best young player in 2014 and 2015 but once again WAS NOT a contender for the brownlow in his early year.
      So so far not only am I wrong, but the league, the bulldogs.... and you as well when you said "young players don't get votes" when jhf and Nick daicos prove that wrong.
      Just stop dude, facts don't care with your feelings.

    Connor Macdonald is following almost an identical path to Zac Bailey. Similar draft profile, but looks more like a crafty half forward than a midfielder once in the AFL.

    I like your content mate. Just a heads up. Never consider what a West Australian scout says about a draftee. They are paid to compare them to the most current Eagle in recent history because that sells papers. Chad Warner played for East Freo with Luke Jackson, Trent Rivers, Trey Ruscoe and Jeremy Sharp. They were all compared to West Coast players except the 'unicorn' Luke Jackson who still had Dean Cox murmuring happening 😂😂
